“grand lives up to name”

This little piece of heaven is 4 mjnutes from railway station and is "grand". You dont hear the trains atvall so dont let being close to station deter you.

The welcome is wonderful and the front reception are is full of antique furniture....real or not doesnt matter. The breafast room and terrace by fhe pool make having breakfast each mornjng a delight. The swimming pool was bliss after the hot days.
The Reception staff speak very good English and welcomed me each afternoon using my name.
My room was a comfortable with big bed, fluffy white towels and heavy curtains to keep out the afternoon sun.
Thank you to Deborah and Giancarlo for making my stay so pleasant. Highly revommend

Room Tip: Lots of restaurants close in old city whivh is only 10 minute walk away.

This has got to be one of the nicest 'cheap' 4 star hotels in the area
Fabulous room, very friendly staff, decent breakfast
Stayed for 3 nights as we wanted to explore Lecce which is a very nice historic city, with plenty going on. Wished we could have stayed longer.
On site garage parking, 10 Euros per night.
Only one downside, the pool was closed

Great hospitality. This place has everything a Grand Hotel should have. Staff that is professional, yet not aloof.Willing to work with you to see that you are having a good yet educational time in the Lecce region.I stayed for 6 nights I had a fun time with the entire staff. I bargained for a lower nights price. It worked. The cleaning staff on the 2nd floor are a hoot. They answered my Italian language questions. Scarpe Larghe, BON giorno. Things are a little more loose after 6PM. The staff are willing to get you to were you have to go, be, or see.
The rooms are massive, all electric but green with your path being lit as walk down the halls. The bathroom all marble with a jacuzzi tub.
John

Room Tip: The area is pretty well deserted after 8PM. I don't think noise is a problem.

We stayed in this hotel from May 8th to May 10th, The first room they gave us: NICE but the TV was not working,
They gave us another room (small suite), but the major problem was with the bathroom, NO pressure and the water took a lot of time to get hot. (we even timed to see how long it would take to fill half a bathtub- 26 minutes,
The staff (very nice) are limited in numbers, there is a person at the desk, but it seems to be all. The patio and the pool are dirty, we could not even sit outside. There was NO bar service. We paid a lot for this hotel, but we OVERPAID, maybe 50% of what we had paid would have been enough. They claim it was a 4 star hotel, maybe a 2 star hotel would be more exact. Unless they upgrade

Room Tip: If you look at the photos, especially the pool area, you might be sold, before making a reservation...

I booked at Grand Hotel last minute - a day before my trip, and was very very glad to have found it. After a tiring train journey from Rome, I loved having the hotel just a few steps from the train station. A beautiful classically decorated lobby greeted me, along with smiling, courteous staff. Loved my room: even though I felt it was a bit overdone on the decoration, it was very comfortable, clean and quiet with a massive shiny bathroom complete with hot tub. The hotel is a ten to fifteen minute lovely walk from the center of town. The staff had helpful maps for me with lots of tips on places to eat, see and drink. Breakfast was lavish - like the breakfast room itself which had a pleasant outdoor garden. Free, fast wifi was included in the reasonable room rate. Check out was effortless. Lecce is a beautiful town, I loved visiting it, along with all the other smaller towns around it.

I stayed in room 103 for 1 night on 21 July 2012 (1 person) and paid EUR75 incl breakfast via Booking.com. This was a lovely spacious double room with small juliette balcony overlooking Viale Oronzo Quarta and huge marble bathroom. It was easy to find. Walk out of the train station, straight ahead 50m. Hotel on the right. Easy. The Lecce Duomo is a little tricky to find - with all the tall buildings it does not stand out as it does in some other towns - best get a map - it's about 15-20 min walk from the hotel.

Lecce is a beautiful, elegant, well-kept, clean town. Don't let it fool you - some of the streets are very quiet between the station and the Duomo but the town "goes off" on Saturday night around 11.30pm to midnight - hundreds of people between the Piazza Oronzo and the Duomo and the bars are full and overflowing. A pleasure to visit. I felt very safe walking around alone at midnight. Dinner prices were very reasonable were I ate and at places I looked at. (Great pizza at Carlo V Ristorante Pizzeria and lovely to sit in small outdoor piazza near the Duomo - open late - people still arriving at 11.30pm)

Main Points -
* There is a street light directly outside these street facing rooms which is bright orange and the heavy curtains did not block out the light but I slept through it. It was fine for me. I live on a highway.
*Good friendly checkin in English. Thank you. I wanted to practice my Italiano but appreciate the gesture.
* Room could use a coat of paint around the luggage rack - very scuffed. Carpet has seen better days.
* Bed was very hard like a plank with sheets but I slept well!
* Good quality fluffy towels. Small useless hairdryer (I bought my own so no problem). Hard to get the hot/cold water and water pressure just right - weird really. There is was a bath tub with spa jets - I should have used that!
* Beautiful sunny breakfast room. Really a highlight of the hotel - a joy to sit in and reminds you of an opulent bygone era - chandeliers, huge windows. Overlooks a small pool - really nice little garden area but the the garden around the pool has sadly gone to weeds and has not been maintained. Pity.
* I came down for breakfast at 9.30am Sunday - most of the food on the buffet was gone - it was peak time with only 1 waiter bringing coffee etc. Probably better to go earlier and miss the crowd. What was there could be better quality for a hotel of this standard. Nevermind, I went out and had delicious pastry and good coffee at the lovely Cin Cin Cafe in Piazza Oronzo (fantastic selection of cakes & pastries!)

For EUR75 (single) this was good value and I would stay again. It is so handy to the train station.

We stayed one night and travelling by train the hotel is very close to the station and on the way to the old town centre. We were given a very large room- but the beautiful bathroom was almost the same size! The hotel was very well kept and well lived up to its name. The room was also very clean, upto date and the free internet worked well.

We got good directions from reception and the buffet breakfast was very nice with excellent if discreet service.

Could not have asked for anything more.
