I stayed in the B&B which was lovely and from my room you could enter the beautiful Historic Garden where I could listen to the birds every morning while sipping my espresso. This place is an absolute treasure in the middle of old Lecce. Nikos, the manager was extremely helpful. He not only made sure everything was perfect but helped me with my travels around the Puglia area. I was fortunate enough to stay for 10 days while attending the Awaiting Table cooking school. Breakfast was always a treat and very generous. I really can't say enough about Palazzo Bernardini and Nikos, it was just the most wonderful place to stay and if you get a chance and they have room don't look any further. I would love to return one day and hope Nikos will be there to greet me. It would be like seeing an old friend again. What wonderful memories of such a grand place. Grazie

Room Tip: There is not a swimming pool but I could not get the dots removed. I think all the rooms are lovely...

We stayed in one of their beautiful two bedroom apartments for two nights. The accommodations were fantastic. We have never before had barrel vaulted ceilings in our bedroom! We even had a private garden area that was accessible from both bedrooms. A lovely breakfast was delivered to our room at the time we specified each morning. We were also pleasantly surprised by finding the refrigerator stocked with free water and other reasonably priced beverages. The Palazzo is located in a lovely part of the old city center with excellent restaurants a short stroll away. Nikos, our host, greeted us warmly and gave us maps and tips on where to go and what to do. He was also extremely helpful in sending us driving directions into the center before we left home. If you have never been to Lecce, we strongly advise that you get those before you venture into those small, winding one-way streets. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Lecce, we will definitely stay at the Palazzo Bernardini!

to experience the wings of history when staying at the Palazzo Bernadini, situated in right in the middle of Lecce's old town - the majestic baroque city is just outside your doorstep.
We were warmly greeted by Nikos who, after showing us the "room" - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, dining room with fridge and microwave and a beautiful private garden, gave us valuable info about the city, wrote a map and told us where to find the highlights of the city.
On Nikos recommendations, we had a nice lunch at Doppiozero, fantastic icecream at Natale's and finally a great dinner at Vico dei Sotteranei.
We felt pampered and were served a delicious breakfast in our suite. At check-out, Nikos offered us to have look at some of the private rooms of the Palazzo, explaining about the rooms filled with paintings and antiques. It was truly amazing, almost like a fairy-tale.
We will definitly go back to Lecce - just to get the opportunity to stay at the Palazzo Bernadini.

A stay at the Palazzo Bernardini is to take pictures from history. The hotel is steeped in the baroque theme of the old city of Lecce; some of the grand rooms of the palazzo have frescoes from the 16th century. The rooms are clean and quiet; the area is safe. The hotel is superbly located for access to the rest of the city. Nikos Popozoulou, our concierge, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He made us feel welcome.

The proprietor is a retired university professor and has a library worthy of an Oxford don. Nikos is heading a project to preserve a dialect of Greek that is still being spoken in Puglia. His friend Afanasio has a studio in the Palazzo where he does exquisite reproductions of icons.

If you rare coming to Lecce for its art, architecture or history, then staying at Palazzo Bernardini will be right down your alley.

Thank you! Indeed the origins of Palazzo Bernardini date back to the renaissance and its architecture features vaults and frescoes that are unique. More importantly, we are very glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and wish to see you again in Lecce

Palazzo Bernadini! An Unpretentious and cultured slice of the beautiful city of Lecce. We had only three days, but wanted to stay longer. A large suite, with a beautiful private walled garden, in the centre of the old city.
We felt like honoured Guests, rather than tourist clients. Nico gave up his busy morning to retrieve our towed hire car, and paid the fees on our behalf after we departed. This saved us a valuable day. Astonishing hospitality. Book it!

Thank you for your stay. It is rewarding to read that you enjoyed our hospitality, and I am so glad to read that you did not feel like an anonimous tourist. Indeed our goal is providing personalised assistance to our guests. We like to believe that that is one of the main reasons why people decide to stay with us and not in an anonimous big hotel

Take the time to print out directions and follow them to the door of this terrific B & B; you won't be sorry. In the heart of the old city, our suite of rooms was huge, beautifully decorated, and opened onto the garden terrace. A large shower, jacuzzi bath, and the incredible service provided by the manager made us feel as though we were in a glamorous hotel suite. Breakfast is delivered to the room and parking is provided, either in the courtyard or just out the door.
Wow! Would not hesitate to return to Lecce, especially during Holy Week when all the churches are open. Wish more B & B's were like this!

Room Tip: Check the photos and amenities. Some rooms have kitchens and others just microwave.

Thank you so much. Our objective was to make you feeling better than at the Grand Hotel with a personalised service and a warm ambiance. Apparently we achieved our goal! We look forward to see you again.
There is more than the Holy Week as big event down here! We are actually preparing for a week end that will see all gardens of the Lecce' Palazzos - including ours - open to the public. It is 25 and 26 May. There will be art exhibitions and concerts all over the old town.

We just returned from a month-long visit to Lecce.....staying in Palazzo Bernardini's "Terrace Apartment". The location in the heart of the centro storico was perfect for reaching everything we needed in Lecce within a 5 or 10 minute walk. We arrived on a cold, rainy night to a warm welcome from Nikos. He gave us maps and tons of advice about how to make ourselves at home in Lecce and the surrounding region. He gave us a parking permit and allowed us to park within the palazzo gates, which was a huge asset. He offered us bikes, which made for fun trips and picnics to the Sea. Any time we had a concern, Nikos came through with flying colors within minutes of our request! We enjoyed many good meals in Lecce and highly recommend L'Arte dei Sapori Ristorante, La Torre di Merlino, and Angelino's (where you can enjoy very inexpensive and authentic pasta). Our favorite pizza shops are Pizza Company for the good value and warm greeting and service.....and Il Pizzicotto for it's amazing crust!! We tried to enjoy a coffee at every cafe, but it was impossible....even a month did not allow enough time! Our favorites are Caffe' della Lupa (where I met my new friend Angela) Doppiozero - OO - for it's warm community feel, Avio and the Cin Cin Bar at Living Cafe. Locals love Natale for gelato, however, our favorite was definitely Crem.
The Terrace Apartment is on the 3rd floor of the palazzo and is clean and very well epuipped for a long-term stay. We were able to keep the apartment toasty warm and cozy, which was a huge bonus. We've rented apartments throughout Europe other winters and could never seem to get warm. The kitchen is very tiny, but has the necessary utensils to cook simple meals. Friends from the US visited us for one of our weeks, and their suite on the ground floor was very spacious with nicer furnishings and bath, and the suite was maintained a bit better than the apartment. Even for a long-term stay, I'd choose to stay in the beautiful suite instead of the apartment.......unless you must have a kitchen.
We recommend staying at Palazzo Bernardini without reservation!

Room Tip: If you don't need a kitchen and washing machine, choose a suite.

Thank you for recommending us, it is so nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and yes, we certainly try to keep apartments warm in winter and cool in summer by giving the oportunity to our guest to choose the temperature autonomously.

And yes we are there to help you anytime. We have plenty of other restaurants and bars to suggest, if you will like to come back. And the surroundings of our town have a lot to offer too, including beaches and natural parks.
