We loved the Hotel Al Pescador in Lazise. It was advertised as a two star but worth three stars, in my opinion.
The staff were friendly, they speak Italian, German and a little English. It's genuinely family-run and the majority of guests are German, many of whom have driven to Italy and make use of the large car park.
Our room was large and en-suite with a balcony. Note that it does have air-conditioning; although a fan was provided, it could be a little stuffy. It was smartly decorated with comfy beds, hair-dryer, TV with satellite although the only English station is CNN.
Breakfast was a self-service continental buffet with plenty of choice of breads, cereal, jams, eggs, cheese, hot drinks, etc. Just a shame the juice was squash, not fresh juice, and the fruit salad was sometimes tinned.
The best part of the hotel is the large garden, swimming pool, and hot tubs (three of them!). There are always sun loungers to spare!
The only major disadvantage is the fact that for non-drivers, the Pescador is located 10 minutes outside Lazise on a busy road. It can be a bit of a trek in the hot sun with cars whizzing past. However, the hotel itself cannot be faulted, it was a really lovely stay. The point was made when we were checking out, the people in front of us were also checking out and we overheard them saying "Thanks AGAIN! See you next year!".
