“2 Weeks at Piani Di Clodia July 2012”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

Our 2 families (4 adults 4 kids aged 8,8,5,4) spent 2 week camping at Piani Di Clodia from 22nd July to 4th Aug 2012. We arrived at lunch time (Sunday) and were lucky enough to get 2 premier camping pitches together close to the Lake and Swimming Pool. Overall this site is excellent value for money, with great facilities, 2 separate pool areas with slides, a supermarket on site that is well priced and has everything you could need, plus good restaurants and takeaways. There are 2 cash points on the site also. The site is probably 80% Dutch, with the rest made up from Germany, Belgium, Swiss and not many Brits. This was not an issue with us and we found our fellow Europeans to be friendly. There is evening entertainment spoken in English and Dutch, which the kids enjoyed. On an evening there is a free bus from the site which take you to nearby Lazise from 6.00pm and the last bus returning at 11.00pm. Lazise is a great town to visit with plenty of shops and restaurants. We also took a ferry from Lazise to visit Simione (well worth a visit) and Peschiera, cost was 64e for 2 adults and 2 children. We also drove to Malcesine (about 1 hour) and took the cable car up Mount Baldo (suggest you get there early as the queue was long at 11.00am) which is worth a visit and the town of Malcesine is stunning. The site is close to Gardaland, we went one evening (6.00pm to 11.00pm), the cost was 64e for 2 adults and 2 children and which was less busy and not as hot.
Would we return? definitely to this campsite, plenty of facilities and we felt safe, not sure about the drive from UK (Yorkshire) we travelled through Belgium, Germany (inc stopover) and Austria which was without any holdups going. Busy leaving Italy heading back to Austria.

Enormous and popular site. Well run to cope with the 900+ pitches. Very popular with families (some noisier than others). Pools were excellent – swimming lanes for those not wanting to scream and splash.
Sites feel very cramped in towards the lake, but with a bit of a walk up the slope much more space and privacy can be found.
Good on site facilities – bars, restaurants etc. which were fine for pizza / pasta / salad etc. (not amazing, not bad). Great little bus which runs into the town (lazise) – that was really good and thorough recommended to get out of the site.
We thought it was expensive to stay – to be fair it has a clear pricing structure and obviously popular but will probably try elsewhere next time.

Spent 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom bungalow (F3) with hubby and 2 kids (14 & 8). We arrived very late due to flight problems and reception was closed, But the security men were very helpful giving us the key and taking us down to our bungalow in a gold buggy as no cars were allowed in due to the late hour. Bungalow was very clean and quite spacious. Good outdoor space with table, chairs, loungers and umbrella.

The supermarket is quite well stocked, although you have to be there very very early to get the plain crossaints fresh in the morning! It is well priced with a good range of food. There is a lidl nearby but this was very cramped and very busy. You couldn't get 2 trolleys side by side in the aisles! Threre is a huge famalia supermarket about 4kms away in Pescheria which was fantastic. Massive selection of everything,

The campsite itself it very good. Excellent pools huge choice of slides and shutes. There wasn't the mad rush for sunbeds in the morning as we have experienced at Bella Italia, although most are taken by 11 am. Life gaurds are really good and stand no nonense from anyone, from toddlers to teenagers, they all got a whistle if required!

The restuarants are a mixed bunch. We ate in the formal restaurant twice and the food and service were great. We had the misfortune to eat in La terraze. AVOID at all costs, rude staff especially the waiter called Nicola!!!!! extremely busy and the Food was appalling. Worst meal I have ever had in Italy and I only had a pizza!

Lots of Dutch, German, Italian and a scattering of other europeans, Not very many english speaking. The Dutch are very rude and unfortunately you have to really stand up to them or you never get served.

Beware the courtesy bus to lazise, runs frequently and is an excellent service, but you have to hold your ground and shout to get yourselves on!!!

Overall Piani di Clodia is lovely and I would go back, but if you are looking for your kids to make lots of friends it;s not the place for you.

Our family of 5 (myself, husband and three sons - ages 13, 11 and 3) have just returned from a great holiday at Piani Di Clodia. It is an excellent campsite with lots to entertain various ages.

Pools/waterslides: These are its best selling points and theres something for everyone and although it was height of the season and the site was full it never felt over crowded. There were 7 pools to choose from and lots of deckchairs around the pools. For those who didn't want to be right on top of the pools there were other sunbathing areas and also shaded grassy areas with deckchairs set a bit further back. For those with babies/toddlers there were little rigid green plastic paddling pools dotted around the some of the pools which you could fill with water from pool them position near your deck chair so they wouldn't feel like they were missing out! Water slides were varied and there was something for young plus others. My boys loved the water slides and I believe there were about 13 slides dotted around the pools.

Organsied activities: There was football, volleyball, tennis and table tennis and games were organised for these activities at certain times of the day (some for different age groups) although you could use them freely outside of these times (apart from tennis where you had to pay to use court)
There was also canoeing and pedalo racing that took place in the lake 2-3 times a wk.

Playground: The playground for older children was well equipped and there was a sandipit plus there was a little playground for smaller babies/toddlers. There was also a small covered playground aimed at young children.

Accomodation: We stayed in a maxi caravan and it was basic but clean and adequate. Air con (which is included in price) was a lifesaver. The outside covered wooden veranda was useful as a dining areas as inside living area quite small.

Staff: Majority could speak english and were helpful.

Internet: There is WiFi access available at various locations on the site for 5 euros for 3 hrs. You purchase a card with login details and password from reception.

Shuttle bus: The free shuttle bus that runs to Lazise in the evenings (and also on a Weds morning - market day) was handy and runs roughly every 10 mins from 18.30 - 23.00.

Most of the holiday makers staying appeared to be either german or dutch so you can feel a little bit like an outsider and I would agree with the previous post that going here with friends would make this place even better.

Sorry if I've gone on but reason I've written so much is that prior to us going there were very few reviews to read so as to know what to expect so I hope this helps someone trying to decide on it.

Just back from a great holiday in Piani di Clodia. Our family ( 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 & 6 ) went out end of June 2010 for two weeks and we stayed in a fab bungalow ( with aircon ) with brilliant views of the lake. Have to say this was probably the best camspite we stayed at. The facilities were superb and the pools were fantastic. Its a great location to visit Garda land which we did in the first week as things got noticeably busier as you go into July. Not sure I would go in late July or August as its probably too busy and too hot. Because the weather was so good we spent most of the time at the campsite and lakeside beach but did the cable car trip to Malcesine which was well worth it. The towns at Lake Garda are simply beautiful, one nicer than the next. Unfortunately we didn't get to the likes of Limone, Riva or Salo this time. Eating out was reasonable and the food and wine were great too. We flew out to Milan Linate ( Aer Lingus ) and came back via Bergamo ( Ryanair ) -hired a car. Bergamo was only one hours drive away but Linate is not too much more. Bergamo old town also worth a visit. If I was to pick a negative it would be the lack of english speaking people. Seems to me that this site is not marketed in the UK or Ireland ( maybe the site doesn't want drunken Irish or English partying all night !!) . Mainly Dutch, German , Scandinavian etc. We were very lucky to meet another Irish family with similar kids ages which was a great help. Would definately like to go back here some day perhaps with some friends other family etc although I think the word seems to be getting around about this place. Most people seem to know only about Bella Italia but I think this site is considered a lot better .

Hope this review is hepful to anybody considering going.

We are just back from this Campsite and it was fantastic. Very professionally run with attention to detail everywhere. The pools (all 7) were very well supervised and the facilities at these were second to none. We have holidayed at El Delfin Verde in Girona for the last 5 years and took a change of venue this year. My kids (13 & 10) definitely got more out of this park than they would have had if we had gone back to EDV. Pizza on site was fab and great value for money - between €4 and €7 - depending on toppings. We booked a Mobile Home near the Lake which was lovely, my only complaint being the size of the room for the kids - it was a bit tight. However we will be going back.
