“Clean, comfortable and convenient”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights in room with lake view. Hotel is really easy to find, just follow signs once into Iseo! Room was great - spacious, nice sized bathroom, everything we needed for sleeping and showering. We were in Iseo for a wedding but this hotel gave us a great base for exploring the town and the lake. Just a couple of minutes walk and you're onto the promenade by the lake. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, fuelled us well for our busy days! Next time we're in the area we would not hesitate to stay here again! Don't forget your swimming stuff (we forgot ours) pool looked lovely!

Couple of things to point out - 1. Best to lock your door when in the room, not sure the cleaners notice if you put the no entry light on - even at 8am... 2. If you need a taxi anywhere then ask with plenty of time as we were told a 50 minute wait just to get 4km up the road! (Obviously through no fault of the hotel, but just useful to know)

New building with nice big rooms. Very quiet, don't worry about the hotel being close to the Railway - there ar fel trains passing, none at night. Good, rich breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff - englishspeaking.

Stayed in this new hotel for 2 nights in a superior room with balcony. The rooms are impressively large, well-equipped (including a safe), have lots of storage space and very efficient air conditioning. We had paid the extra supplement for a lake view - the hotel isn't actually next to the lake but we had a good view of the lake. The balconies are very small with no room to sit down - there are more expensive rooms with large terraces if this is important. The bathroom was massive but had a very small shower cubicle, no storage and no box of tissues. Car parking is free outside and a hefty €15 per night underground - as we were travelling by motorcycle underground secure parking was free, very good! Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and individually made hot drinks rather than a self-help machine. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is a short easy walk to the very pleasant lake-side and old town, a very nice place to spend a couple of days. We'd certainly go back to Iseo and stay at the International.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a room with a lake view and terrace rather than just a balcony.

We stayed one night in July - room for 4 with balcony. Fairly big room, nice sized balcony (table & chairs). Small pool. Not really a lake view, but very convenient location, free parking, air con and a fabulous buffet breakfast - hot & cold, cereals, ham, cheese, cakes. My teenagers enjoyed it here & we'd stay again. Agree that staff were variable though!

Arrival and location:
We had some difficulties with finding the place, as during our arrival, a Sunday market was being held, with some streets closed for traffic, but those were exactly the streets our satnav wanted to guide us through. It might not be a problem on other days.
The hotel is located some 5 walking minutes from the north end of the lake promenade in Iseo. The walk to the town centre and ferry piers takes 15-20 minutes.

Parking:
The hotel has free uncovered parking and underground parking for an additional fee.

Check in:
This was probably the most unfriendly and uninterested welcome to a hotel that I have ever experienced. Mega-grumpy receptionist – who did not speak any English. Be not fooled by the hotel's name: If you don't speak Italian, consider very carefully if you want to stay here, as none of the staff members can speak enough English (or German) to address issues beyond check in or check out situations.

The Room:
The room was advertised as superior twin room with large balcony or terrace, lake view, and a large bathroom.
There was a terrace, but it was a shared terrace, with only some green plant dividers, but there was no audio-visual privacy whatsoever, and one could have freely walked from one room to the other. And from that terrace, all you could see were basically other houses and buildings, and through a gap catch some glimpses of some water. “Lake view” IMHO is something else. I would call it very partial water views (see photo). This would probably also apply to most of the other hotel rooms except maybe for the ones on the top floor.
The room itself was reasonably sized and furnished in a typical way. There was a minibar/fridge, a safe deposit box large enough to store tablet computers and some camera equipment. Wifi was available everywhere at no cost, but there was no security enabled (open network). The signal was reliable. The aircon system got the room cold enough (at outside temperatures up to 35°C), but was noisy, and more annoyingly, stopped and restarted every 30 seconds once the set temperature was reached. The curtains did not block out daylight. Noise from the outside and from the corridor where tolerable (with the aircon on, that is).
There is not a single power point in the room that occupants can use. If you want to connect or charge any of your devices, you have to unplug either the tv or one of the bedside lights.

Bathroom:
The bathroom was not small, but the space had not been utilized well, so most of it was dead space. For example, the shower cabin was placed right next to the door and therefore had to be so small, that a normally grown male can hardly turn around inside. Another big issue was that the bathroom window (going out onto the terrace) was clear glass and screened with only a thin transparent curtain. This might provide some privacy during the day, but definitely not at night with the bathroom lights on (see photo). So after sunset you either don't care, or you use the bathroom in the dark.

Another issue was that housekeeping staff were using the terrace as a shortcut from one room to the other – and for hidden cigarette breaks – thus constantly invading the privacy of room occupants. I once was using the WC (which is directly at the window), when suddenly two housekeeping staff members appeared right in front of the window, basically some 75 cm away from me, happily chatting and smoking....
Trying to discuss this with management failed due to language barriers.

Breakfast:
The breakfast area next to the lobby was large enough to avoid waiting for a table, but very noisy. Staff seemed determined to do whatever they had to do with the maximum noise levels possible...
The buffet choices were ok for a three star establishment, but there were hardly any fresh fruit. There was only percolated coffee from a can – as far as I could see.

Other:
Has an indoor pool which we did not use.

Summary: We didn't hate it, but would not stay there again. It has a long way to go to become an “International Hotel”

Room Tip: Try to get the top level rooms with terrace.

The hotel is in a great location, only 3 minutes walk to the lake. The rooms are all a good size with decent furniture. There aren't tea and coffee making facilities but there is a mini bar in the room. There's a free car park which is fantastic as Iseo can get very crowded with cars and there's a pool which I never got chance to use. My only negative comment would be that housekeeping chatted to one another very loudly outside my room both mornings which woke me up!

In November the hotel was nearly empty and the stay was really comfortable. Quiet and spacious rooms, very clean, the staff is very kind and helpful, the breakfast buffet is generous and offers a good variety. Everything at a very affordable price, however in summertime the price is bound to increase during the touristic peak season.
The staff does not speak english but I bet this is not a problem anyway.
Truely recommendable.
