Lets face it, central Grosseto is a bit of a dump full of unattractive dining options, mostly of the fast food variety.

This little place is great though. Only about a dozen tables, family run and specialises in fish (although plenty of other delicious sounding options on the menu).

Very accommodating, the chef even came up with a custom menu for our table ...with the main feature being some fresh local caught lobsters he wanted to show off as some of the best of local produce, he even went to the kitchen to fetch and to show us they were still alive and healthy !

Booking is ESSENTIAL, especially on Friday or Weekends. We went there during the week unannounced as a first visit, got a table without reservation.... but we wanted to go back again for one last time before leaving the area, we didn't book and it was full until 10pm.... so make sure you book to avoid disappointment !

My husband and I found this restaurant by chance after arriving in the town somewhat late in the evening. Our meal was incredible especially the steak and the picci. The owner, his wife and the staff were delightful to talk with and gave us many tips on places to see in the area. The time they spent with us really added to our enjoyment of the evening and of the entire trip. The local wine was a perfect complement to the meal and the local appertivo was a nice touch. I would recommend it to anyone visiting this region.

We had been with a group of 14 persons in this restaurant and eated a la carte. The warm welcome of the owner of the restaurant was very much appreciated. The staff in the service is like the chief - charming and helpfull. The variety of the dishes was estonishable and the efficiency of the kitchen great to serve such a large group without any problems. The regional products from sea and agriculture were celebrated in an excellent way. As friends of wines we loved the winelist and could choose from many out of the region.Everybody felt happy at the end of the evening and will come back at any time when we will be in the region.

Kind staff, excellent food (try the selection of raw fish which I found exquisite) and a nice location make this restaurant a must go when in Grosseto. Great value for the money too.

I went to 'L'Uva e il Malto' restaurant after a surgical conference in Grosseto.
The restaurant staff are very friendly and explain all the typical italian delicatessens as you were a food industry professional.
At Malto and UVA the options are so many and well prepared that you'd take some time to decide what to eat and even longer to make your mind up to what is nicer.

The passion for high quality food and service transpires through their skin and the result is that you feel very well looked after.
If you are lucky enough Moreno will take you to the kitchen and show you step by step all the tricks for a delicious Carbonara.
Unmissable.
