We went to dine at this new restaurant beginning of May 2013, looking for a less touristy place and authentic Sicilian food. Bingo!
The restaurant is right next to a shopping mall, I think the name was "I Gabbiani".
It is new and tastefully decorated, with soft lights, a relaxing lounge atmosphere and an outdoor garden section with palm trees and cosy candle lights.
The aubergine ravioli and the pizzas we had were very tasty and (finally!) we had generous portions for a very fair price (unlike most restaurants in Taormina and on the beaches). The chocolate fondant dessert was also delicious.
Waiters and restaurant owner were lovely and very patient with our naughty one-year old.
If you are looking for fairly priced and tasty Italian food in a cosy and friendly environment this is the place to go to. If you want to dine with a view on the sea, then you should go to Giardini Naxos beach.
I definitely recommend!
