“We are going to really miss those lunches!”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

This is an excellent hotel. We stayed for two weeks, all inclusive, and were delighted with the accommodation. The main pool is huge and, as you would expect, cleaned every night. The food is excellent and we enjoyed a variety of Italian regional dishes throughout our stay. The drinks were all of good quality. All staff were always keen to help, but special thanks to Paulo, Franco, Filippo, Pietro, Angelo and Rosario for their attentive service.

The hotel cannot change the fact that the beach is a couple of km away, but, in my opinion, they make every effort to overcome it with a regular shuttle bus service. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes when we chose to go to and from the beach, and they had staff at the beach during the day to help if you needed it. If it got really busy they even used two extra minibuses to speed things up.

Other reviewers have mentioned the local bus service and its really easy to travel to Taormina, which has lots to offer and explore. From there you can also catch a bus up to Castelmola, which is a hidden gem, or a cable car down to Isola Bella. There are so many stunning views to enjoy. On several occasions we caught the buses around 9 in the morning, headed to Taormina, explored somewhere and then caught the bus back in time for the excellent lunches which were offered.

Mount Etna is always in the background and it was erupting whilst we were there. Apparently it is quite normal, but to see the lava running down the volcano at night was quite amazing, and you could hear and see it really clearly from the hotel. We decided to take the Thomson arranged trip to the summit. At 92 euros each it might seem expensive, but the trip involves a coach trip to 1900m, a cable car to approx. 2500m, a 4x4 unimog to 2900m, and then a guide to take you further on foot. What an experience! Other guests we spoke to had very positive opinions about other trips they had been on.

The majority of the guests were Italian, but there were quite a few Brits, along with Belgians and a wide range of other European nationalities. We prefer to stay in places with a mix of people, everyone seemed to get on really well and there was always a good atmosphere. All in all, we had a fabulous holiday and it was great value for money too. Thank you Hotel Caesar Palace!

Room Tip: We paid extra for a balcony but didn't really use it.

Just got back from a two week all inclusive booked with Thomson. We were a little hesitant about booking as some of the reivews were a bit negative. In our opinion nothing could be further from the truth - we've had a fantastic experience.. First let's be clear. The location is edge of town in a mixed residential area with some shops nearby on the main road out of town. It is in no way semi-industrail so don't be put off. In fact the out of centre location means it is quiet at night once the entertainment finishes. We enjoyed the painist enormously and it was wonderful to watch couples doing the chacha rumba and alike. (The pianist even researched a song he didn't know and played it for me the next night - ask for Lullaby of Birdland by George Shearing). Out of the hotel we enjoyed wandering around a part of town not dedicated to tourism but had normal supermarkets and shops. Secondly some have been unimpressed by the food - my family totally disagrees. If you want chips and chicken nuggets you'll be disappointed. If you want succulent meat and fish dishes, excellent pastas with genuinely good salads then you'll be fine. Desserts are a bit limited but there's plenty of fruit and gorgeous ice cream of numerous flavours. I tucked into tuna steaks, paella, seafood risotto, seafood linguni, and the occasional steak or gammon. Pizza at lunchtime was excellent too (served freshly made in the outside restaurant). Don't be afraid to ask for one big one to share amongst the family or families - we've made some new friends through the kids playing together in the pool. In the evening the big restaurant can be very noisy especially at the weekend. The smaller restaurant is quieter and had a calmer feel as a result with no queues for food and attentive staff for wine orders etc. The wine in bottles rather than on tap is better- just ask the waiters and there are plenty in the all inclusive deal to choose from.
Now on to the service. All excellent from our experience. I don't expect all staff to be multilingual but enough are good at English and they will be very supportive if you try a few a bit of Italian.
Swimming pool - big, cleaned every night and never too crowded. You can always get a sunbed.
Entertainment - for adults it's the pianist around the pool. For children its the kids/teen club shows after dark. Some might be disappointed there are not more shows for adults but it's not that sort of place which suited us fine.
Shuttle bus service to beach is good but the beach is a bit disappointing. We found some smaller patches of public beach which were informal and not regimented with rows of loungers.Plus these nicer bits are only 10/15 minute walk.
Good places to visit nearby like Taormina (by local bus from outside the hotel) and you've got to visit Etna which is erupting and can be seen froom the 3rd and 4th floor balcony. Also it was good to be in a hotel with so many different nationalities and reassuring to see so mnay Italians visiting too.
Now an 'even better if'. The fourth floor where we watched the volcano would make a great planetarium so how aboout a few loungers?
All in all the best inclusive we have stayed in and outstanding value for money so book in confidence and enjoy the wait for a relaxing holiday in a great hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room away from the entertainment you'll need to be away from the pool side...

This was our first time in Sicily and most certainly won't be our last!
The hotel was one of the best all inclusive places we have stayed in.
Food. We dined in the smaller of the two restaurants available most nights and we're never disappointed , in fact we never had a bad meal. There were pastas salads meats vegetables and the best gelato ever . Breakfast lunch and dinner were all yummy !
Drinks no spirits til after 6pm but that was ok all top brands and beer good.
Staff everyone went out of their way to help us they were all really friendly .
Rooms we had a family room and it was plenty big enough for us with ample storage and a balcony. Bathroom was big too.
All in all we had a lovely holiday really relaxing the pool was big and great to cool off in. We loved the vibe round the pool. Quite a lot of Italians stay here which in our view says quite a lot about an Italian hotel. Wi-fi was ok we bought it for the week it cost 15 euros or it was 7 euros per day .
Can't wait to return we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Balcony room was good on 4th floor

let me start by saying that this one of the best hotels we ever stayed in. we stayed for 4 nights on half board basis. breakfast was grand with everything you can imagine. dinner was grander! food was different everyday, serving from fish to pizza. dessert was mouthwatering, our favourite were the cannoli siciliani.

our room had a view of a very pretty garden, preferred it to the pool area as it could be noisy. our room had an electric kettle, hardryer and fridge... the pool was magnificent, lovely place!

receptionist were very helpful, they printed out bus schedules for catania for us although the main station was about 10 mins walk. bus for taormina however was just outisde the hotel, very efficient for taking the bus up to toarmina at night, enjoying the magic in the air. also the hotel has a shuttle to a part of the giardini naxos beach which it owns. was very comfortable.

we would return to this hotel in a heartbeat and would recomment it everyone.

This place is a massive resort-style hotel with swimming pools, shuttle to the beach, resort card to pay for extras, and a kids club program similar to Club Med. It was crowded with families with children (school holiday time) when I stayed and it got a bit noisy and rowdy at times. The evening program can go quite late (karaoke and other concerts) and is loud, so don't plan for an early night.
Nice rooms (mine had a little balcony) and clean bathroom except for a dirty and chipped toilet seat. The shower sprayed a mist of alternating warm and cold water, but the pressure was good. The freestanding sink provided no bench space for toiletries.
The buffet breakfast and dinner provided a good choice of local food with lots of eggplant, zucchini, potato, tomato and pasta dishes. The variety changed a little each night providing enough to choose different things. (Hint - get to the self-serve ice cream before the kids).
Pay as you use wi-fi, the in-room safe (key from reception) that could be lifted out of the floor so I didn't bother, and the old fashioned golf ball sized solid brass room keyring with tassel didn't score any points with me.
Supermarket within 5 mins walk but not much else nearby.
Would recommend for families.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room away from the Kid's Club booming music at their nighttime performances.

Dear Terry,

thank you for your review. We're sorry for your overall experience of crowdiness. As you said this hotel caters more for families, thanks to the all-inclusive basis. You can find a hotel that maybe is more suitable to your needs in our Hotel Ariston, in Taormina. Give it a try.

Not only is Sicily renown for the godfather films and of course The lady herself MT Etna.it is an island of beauty history and culture. We decided to stay on the Taormina side of the island as we thought this was the best side for what we had planned. We stayed at the Caesar palace hotel in Giardini Naxos .The hotel in our opinion was in a good location although not on the beach it has an excellent free shuttle bus to a wonderful private beach with free sun loungers and umbrellas.
The shuttle also goes in the evening so you can stroll along the promenade or take a drink. We stayed on an all inclusive basis with a good choice of food,a choice of where to dine ,and you could serve yourself with the wine etc,but we preferred a bottle on the table(when in Rome as they say).We had a wonderful room overlooking the pool with a massive balcony and we could just see the top of Mt Etna. There are two swimming pools ,smaller one for children and plenty of sunloungers. The excellent animation team are always about to make sure you have a good time if you have any children they are kept occupied, even on the beach and productions at night time in Italian but still very enjoyable. There was other entertainment on not to everyones choice but to have a drink and relax. As i said we like to go out and about ,so our first trip was on the local bus to Taormina bus stop right outside the hotel 3euros each return, you can get this ticket in the hotel.Taormina is a beautiful place to explore the ampitheatre 8euros entrance fee, or try the gardens witch are free and wonderful views of Mt Etna.Whilst you,re there take the next bus up for more spectacularviews to castlemolar 3euros each return.also try the cable car down to isolabella have a dink an chill on the beach(pebbly).3euros each each way but well worth it.We did book one trip with our tour operator to the Alcantara Gorge and Mt etna ,you will have to pay 5euros each to go down to the gorge but its amazing ,take your towel as you can wade into the gorge. It goes without saying the views on Mt etna are amazing you can pat extra to go right to the top but take a jacket can get cold. There's time for lunch up there but the hotel supplied an excellent packed lunch (order the day previous. We also wanted to go to mainland Italy so we got the local bus to the railway station (to far to walk)went to messina 8euros each return don't forget to validate your ticket ,two minute walk from the station to ferry port over to Reggio Calabria approx. 7euros each return had walk along lovely promenade for lunch at Pepys .returned to the hotel and back for 6 in time for G&t.Its also worth getting the train to Catania amazing Fish market and big market on Fridays.we also took a small boat trip from the private beach to the Grottos and Isolabella.15 euros for 2 hrs and a drink you get an discount with staying at the hotel. All in all we had a wonderful holiday well looked after by all the staff .And for the ladies there's an outlet shop with all designer bags. shoes and sports wear at reasonable prices(sorry guys. And one last thing please check that you will have to pay the 1.5 euro pppn hotel tax.We really did enjoy the cannelloni.

I should start this review by saying that I'm basing my opinions in comparison to pervious trips to 4* Hotels in Europe and beyond.
The pool is a good size and a very nice temperature, the gardens are pretty and the area clean. There are not always enough sun beds to cater for the demand and this seems worse at weekends when a lot of locals seem to descend on the hotel. It wasn't a big problem though.
What was a problem however was the incredibly load music the young entertainment team insisted on blasting out at regular intervals during the day making it very uncomfortable to relax or read anywhere around the pool area.
The rooms are quite spacious, we opted for a balcony room for an extra £80 which is not great value but had a welcome bottle of wine and fruit on arrival which is a nice touch. The room was clean apart from a lot of hair on the floor.
All inclusive is necessary because of the remote location and this has been the biggest disappointment for us.
Breakfast offers no fresh cut fruit and very limited cooked food. Some cereals are available but it mostly consists of cake and not particularly nice croissants.
Lunch is most peoples favourite meal at the hotel. Pizza, pasta and salads are available everyday but the dishes aren't labelled and the staff unable to understand requests to inform ingredients.
Dinner is repetitive to say the least, I ate the exact same pasta dish every night for a week. Desert consists of the same 3 or 4 cakes each evening and there is no obvious starter option other than salad.
The bar staff are one of the most miserable bunch I've ever encountered with some of them conducting entire orders without a single word throughout.
The wine is on draught and appalling, it appears to be carbonated and therefore gassy, not what you would expect in Italy and totally unacceptable. Bottled wine is available on request with meals but not from the bar.
Location of the hotel is not ideal with little around the hotel to do. Bus to Toarmino is good value and worth a visit but Naxos is disappointing.
Overall we are left feeling the whole experience could and should have been so much better. Many of the issues could be improved very easily with staff training and listening to feedback from customers but the management seem content to pay lip service only to them.
