Having been to Rome for my "biggy", we decided that we would do Lake Garda for my wife. We selected the Du Parc from the travel agents description and also off TA comments.

When we arrived our greating was curt, we were left to get to our room after depositing our passports with very little attention given to us. That first night was a revelation, there was a wedding on and we were given a table for dinner, extremely convenient for the car park. Service then, as ever was glacially slow, most of the attention was given to our European cousins as English was only spoken by one member of staff, so with Maggie's limited Italian fun was had!!

The only saving grace for this place was the food, which was good to very good, despite the service, which was terrible, however, the building is well past it's sell by date, needing a good coat of paint and redecoration, the bathroom came with it's own mould, not too bad but considering the prices charged not good enough.

Maggie liked the pool, the view from the room was excellent, but really the whole place is sad.

Then there is the room choices, we had a lake view so road noise was not a problem, however beware if you get a room by the road take your ear plugs, our problem was the room, which as all back rooms did, overlooked the restaraunt, which bought a whole new meaning to noise, one night it went on until well after 3am.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel, the best bit being the food but everything else is, well, pretty bad.

Room Tip: We had a lake view room which overlooked the restaraunt and was very noisy.

We had booked 16 rooms in this hotel for the guests of my daughter's wedding (which was being held in Torri Del Benaco) and after reading recent reviews I was wondering what problems we would find.

We had a mix up with one room, which the hotel emailed us about the week before arrival and Mario, the hotel manager could not have been more helpful in sorting this out for us. He was also exceptionally helpful during our stay, printing out speeches and readings for us and booking taxis etc.

The hotel location is stunning and probably the best on this part of the lake with the benefit of being only a 10 minute flat walk into Garda. The rooms are all very nice and generally very spacious. The air conditioning is a bit hit and miss but was working most of the time that we were there. There was one evening when it seemed to be off but after a couple of guests moaned it was turned back on again. We didn't find shower leakage any worse than most hotels of this grade. There was only one function on during our week and the live music for this finished at midnight. Fireworks were lit at 11.30 and it would have been nice if the hotel had warned us of this as a few of the children were probably woken, but other than that most people were not disturbed.

Some of the staff were good and helpful but others were a bit brusque. Breakfast was meant to finish at 10.00 but generally you could still get something to eat and coffee through to 10.30 which was helpful. Breakfast itself was a little limited but adequate. Some prepared fresh fruit rather than tinned fruit salad would have been nice. Also a better range of lunch snacks would have been nice, but I suspect that generally most people are out and about during the day so perhaps there is not normally the need.

As others have said, the bar would do well if a waiter occasionally went round the pool and gardens asking if anyone wanted a drink, however as you cannot charge any expenditure in the bar or the restaurant to your room, this could be problematic.

The general consensus of our group was that hotel, the views, the close location to town and the ability to lay on a sunbed or sit on the terrace in such lovely surroundings, outweighed the few problems that we had and personally I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: The lake views are stunning and worth the extra charge.

We stayed here for 2 nights after some confusion with our booking at another hotel nearby & was promised the same standards. The view, pool area & gardens were lovely & the location was ideal for wandering into the town. Some of the staff were good, but what an opportunity for someone to come in with some management & hospitality skills! Who ever heard of turning the air conditioning OFF at night in the middle of summer when guests are trying to sleep? Our room was like an oven & we may have got a nice evening breeze if we could have left our windows open but the road noise prohibited that! The bar staff were very slow & were obviously more interested in the functions & these guests rather than the hotel guests. We found out on leaving that they are run as 2 separate businesses & this explained a lot! It appeared that many of the bar staff, especially in the evenings were more concerned with standing around smoking & drinking with their guests/friends than serving hotel guests! The hotel, while perfectly situated (apart from the road noise) needed some cleaning & maintenance! WiFi was patchy unless you chose the right table on the terrace & air con useless! Don't advertise it if you can't provide it! A lovely spot spoiled by poor service!

We returned 5 days ago from a 2 week holiday in this hotel. It is beautifully situated, with delightful gardens and pool and the views are breathtaking. However, I have to agree with
Ron P as our shower also flooded the bathroom and for safety measures we had to continually put some of the towels down to mop up the water. We too, experienced long waiting times for our food, sometimes over an hour. Our superior room looked out over the lake but with the terrace below we hardly had any good nights' sleep as there was either music booming out just below our window, or loud talking and laughing. This went on until at least 1pm and sometimes well past.
During our holiday there were 3 weddings, an 18th birthday party, a private function and a live music night. We were not there at the same time as Ron P as he wrote his review while we were still there. We certainly felt that priority was given to the functions at the expense of the resident guests. We were fortunate in having excellent weather for the whole of our holiday, but as the temperatures reached high 20s and 30s and the humidity level was also high we would have loved to have opened our windows, but the sound penetrated even the closed windows. We asked if we could have the Air Conditioning turned on but were given a negative answer. We were led to believe that it was a regulation throughout the area. In the meantime we just had to endure the excessive heat in our room. The comfort of the guests was being completely ignored. Strangely, but oh so welcome, the Air Con came on half way through the second week.
(I later found out that other hotels in Garda had Air Con without restriction) It was difficult to ascertain who was in management control. During our first night, when we had to endure the loudest of wedding 'music' my husband got up twice to complain but could only find a waitress to speak to and was given no useful answers.

With the exception of one or two of the staff we felt that we were being ignored a lot of the time.
Breakfast food and staff were fine and the evening meals, when we got them, were nicely cooked and well presented.

We will not return which is sad because the environment of the hotel was so lovely and it should have been a peaceful and relaxing holiday, rather than a stressful, sleepless one.

...do not stay here. Rooms are smelly and humid. Aircondition had its last service shortly after it has been invented. but nevermind, it does not work anyway.
Staff's service with regard to solving problems, waiting for menue/food/check..., request for attractions or local shops/restaurants varies from very slow to non-existing to even unfriendly.
We attended a party - quality of dinner and drinks were very good though.
Hotel overall is no value for money.

We have just got back from this Hotel. It must be in the best location in Garda. We had a superior room, but the bathroom flooded everytime we had a shower and despite reporting this nothing was done and no apology was received. The food was limited the restuarant staff confused. The reception only open till 5.00pm. We waited for an hour and a half for our dinner one evening! While we were there ther was a Wedding, a Birthday party with booming music right outside our superior room on the Terrace and a dinner for some sort of club. We do not think this a holiday hotel and our nice quiet relaxing holiday turned into a disaster. We will never go there again and it is definitely not 4 star.

My husband and I were here from August 4th to the 15th, As most of the reviews were old or in German I was a little dubious about where we were going but I needn't have worried, the hotel was lovely, the staff were great, the restaurant served delicious food, the breakfast was typically European, bread, ham, eggs, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit and croissants among other things, Upon arriving we were given a room in the hotel but were told we had to move the following morning , this was a bit of a pain but we had a choice of rooms the next day and we chose a chalet which was great as it opened onto the gardens with our own private sitting area, my only complaint are the beds, the mattress was the hardest I have ever slept on, we even tried putting blankets under the sheet but it was still very hard. The pool area never got busy, would have been nice though to have had some kind of waiter service, instead you had to get dressed to walk up to the hotel to order a drink. The staff were all very nice. I think we were the only English couple there, mixture of German and Italian, they had weddings both Saturdays we were there but this caused no problems for us. The hotel is in a great position and only a 10 min walk into the centre of Garda. The views of the lake are stunning. I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again
