“SPECTACULAR”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

The scenery is breathtaking. It is very relaxing, calm and quiet. Idle for families with small children and for those stressed out with work!

“Wonderful place for a holiday”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

At the end of August 2012, I enjoyed two weeks of glorious sunshine and relaxation. Stayed in Torri del Benaco which is not too busy. Lots of ferries from nearby Garda but I was happy to go to Maderno one day and Riva another. Torri has a good market on Mondays - lots of fruit for picnics. Enjoyed going to Verona on the local bus - lots to see. Really enjoyable trips to Padua, Mantova and Sigurta also. On a previous holiday also saw the Dolomites, the Sud Tirol and Venice - so much to see in the surrounding area. But the simple things to do at lake Garda are the best of all - early morning walks along the shore when it is cool and quiet; sitting under the shade of a tree listening to the lapping of the waves and watching the changing light; strolling and seeing beauty everywhere; a long siesta; watching the sunset before dinner; the friendliness of the hotel staff; sipping a chilled Prosecco - no drunkenness here; wonderful shops especially the Italian lady who designs her own Asian inspired clothes (shop in Torri); spoiled for choice with nighttime music spots; art exhibitions by local artists; trying out a few words of Italian.

“Lago di garda e perfetto”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Every lake town has something different to offer. The water to the lake comes from the mts. but in the summer the water is warm and fresh. The shores are rocky and not sandy in parts, but they are lovely regardless. In Sirmione there are a lot of swans to take pictures and beautiful castle but all over the lake it is beautiful.

“Lake Garda and Verona”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Lake Garda has many facets, and over it's considerable length( of some 50 km) it's character alters dramatically from chic and charming Mediterranean to distinctly Alpine at the top of the Lake. Noteable towns at the top would be Riva, which if your a wind surfer, you'll never be short of a breeze...Rocky crags, and steep cravasses make a stunning backdrop to the lake.
Heading down the lake, the scenery softens, and cultivated terraces appear..Towns of particular note are Limone, and Sirmione which has a healing charm, with evidence of ancient palaces, and gardens.
The whole lake can be best enjoyed by a coach trip leaving you free to gaze, the roads are quite narrow in parts, and parking and vantage points are limited. For me I recommend visiting in May or maybe June, or later say September or October. Avoid the Disneyland atmosphere of July and August, where swarms of tourists engulf the area...You must as a priority visit Verona just at the bottom of the Lake. The place is absolutely steeped in history and is beautifully restored. The atmosphere is with you all day long but at nightfall the town is magical. The Arena is an absolute must if you can obtain a ticket for the world famous Opera's. For me the spine tingling event, raises the hair on your back. What a sensation. Other must see 's Castel San Pedro suites the whole family, and Piaza dei Signori just a very special place particularly at night, very romantic. On that note see the Home of Juliet..all a bit cheesy, but charming.
