“very dissapointing”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

just got back yesterday 31 August after a week at the piccolo hotel .And I am sorry to say that my daughter and I was made to feel very unwelcome by the owners daughter. She was very very rude to me and my daughter on many occasions. We went with great expectations after all the good reviews we had read. we have travelled to many places in the world but never have we met someone so rude she made are holiday so uncomfortable and we were glad when it was time to go home. Lake Garda is beautiful we went with the intension of booking some were for my daughters wedding but are experience at the piccolo hotel has left us with bad memories so I am sorry to say we will not be returning to lake Garda. The rooms are clean and basic position is great I think the owners should think about having a word with there daughter as I have already said she is very rude and it would put people of staying there We were so excited about staying in a family run hotel but were very disapointed

Famiglia Dorella

This hotel was as good as other reviews. Helpful staff, great food and a wonderful position practically on the lake and only a short walk to the ferry terminal and a shorter walk to the shops. Only downside was that we were there in a heat wave and the ceiling fans were not enough to cool us down.

We stayed at the Piccolo hotel for 7 nights and would come back again. The hotel is situated in the heart of Garda, just by the lake. The rooms are nice and clean, the Dorella family are friendly and nice. The restaurant offers large variety of food,we tried various pasta, antipasti and wines - all was delicious! The portions are huge, it was quite difficult to finish antipasti+pasta but it was worth it.

We loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly & the food amazing.
We had a room with a lake view (2 windows) on the 2nd floor, it was traditional & exceptionally clean. The shower was really good & the bathroom also a good size. There was also a hair dryer in the bathroom which worked fine. The room had plenty of wardrobe space with a free safe inside it. In the room there was also a dressing table with mirror, a couple of chairs, a tv, 2 bedside tables & we had 2 single beds together to make a double (very comfy). If you want to use your own hairdryer or hair straighteners I would say if they don't have a long cord to take a extension lead. (just my straighteners were fine but I did need to use the dryer in the bathroom as my lead was too short to go from the socket to the mirror at the dressing table). Also make sure your 2 pin plug adapter has thin round pins as some I had were a bit fat so I needed to get a new one at the supermarket. None of this was a problem just thought worth mentioning.
There was also a light / fan in the room which was great, it stayed on when you left the room & we left it on at setting 2 at night & could easily sleep through it. You didn't need to keep the light on to use it either (was remote controlled).
The fan & safe were free which is a excellent bonus.
We were half board & breakfast was a buffet with a lot of choice, ie various cereal, ham, cheese, salami, tomato, boiled eggs, various bread, cake, jams, choc spread, prunes, fruit, packet croissants, orange juice & then tea or coffee. You could have breakfast from 7 to 10am.
For the evening meal which was between 7 to 8pm you had a choice of 3 starters examples like, soup, a pasta of some type or something like tomato/mozzarella or salami or prawn cocktail. for main you had 2 choices ie things like sardines, various fish from the lake, omelette, pork done a different way a few times, steak. for dessert a choice of 3 ie fruit salad, a ice cream dish, or something like tiramisu, chocolate cake, apple strudel. Every meal we enjoyed & the pasta was totally amazing especially the lasagne & the Arrabbiata.
What we also loved was you could eat your meals outside & you dint share a table. Also you had a view of the lake & also sat with customers of the restaurant too.
For drinks you paid at the end of your holiday. We paid £12 euro for a litre of house wine & £3 euros for a large bottle of water. a large lager was £4.50.
At the end of your holiday you also paid your tourist tax (in cash) this was 50 cents a person a night.
You can pay for your drinks by card if you want too.
All the staff were very friendly & I cant say anything bad about this hotel.
yes I would of liked a balcony & yes I would of liked a pool but it just made us go out & explore Garda more & you can go to grass or a sort of beach at either side of the resort.
Garda itself is amazing. Straight behind the hotel is the cobbled streets of the old town & lots of wine bars, bars, shops, restaurants, ice cream shops etc. Along the front of Garda is all the lakeside restaurants which also allow you to just have a drink if you want. there was constantly singers on in different places too. We loved the atmosphere of Garda & will definitely return. It did go quiet about 12pm at Garda but if you did want a later drink there was a few bars at the back of the resort open until 4am so you could have it if you wanted.
The ferry stop was about 3 to 5 mins walk away & the hotel really is in an excellent location.
weather in August was in the 30's & 1 night we had 5 mins of rain & another 30 mins & that was it. was still warm on a night not to wear a cardigan etc (but I am from Newcastle !!)
If you do book here I am really sure you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: we liked paying the extra & having the shower/toilet in the room

As the title says, fantastic location, and first class food, to me the three most important factors in choosing a holiday. We had a 4 night break in this lovely little family run hotel in a great position in the main square on the lakeside of Garda, The quality of the food was exceptional, and the outside dining in the square made this a very enjoyable experience, much nicer than the usual inside dining rooms of the larger hotels.

Garda is a great place for a relaxing holiday, its compact and easy to get around, We visited Verona a lovely city, a 45 minute bus ride, it cost 8 Euro return on the local bus, a good tip is to take the little tourist train that does a 30 minute journey around the main attractions of Verona at a cost of 5 Euro

My husband and I stayed at this lovely little hotel for 2 weeks from 6th july. We had a basic room with a lovely little Juliet balcony, the private bathroom was just down the corridor which we found no problem with this. The meals were taken on the lake front which was lovely and the food was good. All the family and staff were very friendly and helpfull and I would not hesitate to stay here again. We stayed at this lovely hotel for a week between 3.07.13 and 10.07.13. in a basic room.
The extremely hard working family and staff were always on hand to help and advise in typical friendly Italian manner and the food was exceptional -we had to reduce from 3 courses to 2 after 4 days as the quantity of food was substantial on the half board option.
Stefano his sister and charming mother were a delight always courteous and friendly and we have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel for a stay in Lake Garda as it offers exceptional value for money in a lovely family run hotel.

Room Tip: if possible opt for an ensuite room
