I've stayed here several times on business with my young family and love it. As a family run hotel it understands the needs and expectations of such visitors but don;t expect a great deal of space in the rooms - instead enjoy the outside; the pool and the views facing along the northern coastline over Cattolica and up towards Rimini...a great place to base oneself for tours of Urbino and Gradera - or the vineyards..but the piece de resistance is the restaurant...on the top floor the views are stunning - we have never ever actually ordered ourselves; the Maitre'd has always chosen from whatever the chef recommends for each of the five courses and the wine...unless a guest at the hotel it is incredibly difficult to get a seat to eat here as the rich and famous often fly in to the nearby airport so if you are lucky you might recognise a politician from Roma or a footballer from Milano travelling incognito...thankfully it makes no difference everyone is treated with the same respect and everyone is there for the same culinary reason !

Room Tip: all sea facing - if you like the pool ask for the ground floor...if you like the views be up higher...

This is lovely hotel, with very warm friendly service.

The rooms are clean and tidy with balconies facing out over a lovely view of the pool and sea. Our room was a little on the small side, which was ok for a long weekend but probably not any longer. The bed was short. The en suite bathrooms are compact and oddly arranged, so you sit on the loo with your feet in the shower stall.

The pool area was very nice with plenty of beds, we went in low season so it wasn't always staffed for drinks and towels, although I'm sure we could have asked at main reception. The pool is closed overnight and until roughly after breakfast which ensures that guests aren't disturbed by people splashing around, although there did seem to be one guest who stalwartly ignored this early every morning during our stay.

Breakfasts at the hotel are very good with a wide selection of food on offer. The main restaurant is superb, excellent food and service and well worth a visit.

There are a handful of bars and restaurants up in Gabicce Mare, the big pizzeria in the square does great pizzas and pasta. Le marche is a great region for food and wine, quite a lot to do and see.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are directly beneath the restaurant area, and it can be noisy during meal tim...

We spent 5 days at Posillipo last week and the whole experience was fantabulous, from the views to the excellent service and general all round comfort. We travel a lot and like things to be just so and we have no complaints about this hotel at all. As soon as I saw the photo's on the website of the fantastic views down the coast and read the positive reviews I knew I wanted to stay here. I wouldn't choose to stay at Gabicce Mare as that didn't look up our street at all but if I wasn't staying here I would stay in Cattolica which is quite charming in comparison with some excellent restaurants.
So the location is the starring asset of this hotel. Gabicce Monte is a quaint little village on top of a hill that looks right down the coast past Rimini and over to San Marino. I think all the rooms have balconys so to sit there on an evening and watch the sunset with a glass of prosecco is a treat indeed. We were at the end of the season so we didn't attempt a swim in the pool but we saw other brave souls in there and the outside areas are lovely too. The rooms aren't enormous but they have all you want from big fluffy dressing gowns to slippers and even (which is unusual in Italy) tea and coffee making facilities (you might want to take a few extras if you like your cuppa as there is only one coffee sachet and one milk per person each day (and some teabags). There was only a shower in our room rather than a bath but it was perfectly fine. The bed was comfortable which is an important factor for us.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but the breakfasts were just lovely and included in the very reasonable price (which also included free parking and wi-fi). The food was of an excellent quality and fresher than fresh and they made you cappuccino or whatever you wanted and as many as you wanted. The pastries were delicious. The breakfast staff are friendly too.

I must also mention the reception woman who really went out of her way to help me when I was there - from finding me a British conversion plug to phoning the pharmacy to order me anti-biotics when I had a toothache - I was very impressed. As we didn't really like Gabicce Mare we ate at the top of the hill every night, trying Dalla Giaconda and Zennero Zafferano at the posher end of the scale (about 90 euros without desserts but with wine) to the cheaper but really rather good Bel Sit. They all have fantastic views. Our friends picked us up and took us into Cattolica one night which is only a 10 minute drive if someone doesn't mind not drinking and we had a great seafood meal at La Puracia and then entertaining desserts at the michelin starred locanda liuzzi. Finally, there are some fantastic places to visit round and about - so many that we didn't even do all that we wanted as that balcony was just too tempting, but we went to Urbino and Gradara and Montefiore Conca and some other lovely little villages. We will have to go back to go to San Marino! It is also not far to Bologna, Ravenna and Ferrara but we had visited those places at the beginning of the week and stayed in hotels there. We are not beachy type people but you really don't have to be at this hotel - there is so much to discover in this part of Italy.

Room Tip: I think the higher rooms would be slightly better for the view rather than the ones at pool level.

The hotel is located at the top of Gabicce Monte in the Le Marche region and each room has a view of the beach below. It's a good quality hotel with nice rooms. They keep it very clean and the pool is a definite bonus because otherwise you have to go all the way back down the mountain to get to the sea.

I'd say it's a very good hotel because I have stayed at excellent hotels for about the same price. If you want a great view, excellent location, good service and clean rooms than you can't go wrong here but depending on the time of year you will have to pay for it. We paid €155 for a room on a Tuesday.

Room Tip: anything above the 2nd floor will give you a good view.

I visited the restaurant in the Hotel Posillipo in September 2011 and found the food quite stunning. Now this is really saying something as generally the food throughout Gabicce and Cattoloca is of an exceptionally high standard but the Posillipo rates at the very top for quality and service. It can certainly be somewhat pricey when compared to what else is on offer in the area but the whole experience is quite exceptional. This was my third visit to the restaurant over the last three years and if anything the food has improved over the period. As a bonus you can also enjoy some of the most amazing scenery and views from the restaurant along the coast - all in all a brilliant experience!

This is the nicest 4 star hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms are beautiful and bright, all seem to have their own balcony, and the beds are extremely comfortable.

At no point were we disappointed, the staff were friendly, pleasant and accommodating, even though the season had not quite started they did everything they could to look after us. The pool was fabulously quiet, so a choice of beds during the day & fabulous views the whole time.

Breakfasts were wonderful, I suspect all of the food comes from the restaurant kitchens - in which Berlusconi has eaten - inspite of his many issues, his taste in restaurants is superb. The restaurant seems to be busy every night with people there very late, the majority of whom are Italian. It is not cheap, but it is very good.

There are a few other restaurants around the hotel, we sampled the cheaper ones the other evenings we were there and they were all exceptionally good with beautiful fresh food - heading down the hill there is a blue building on the left with a roof terrace, the food there was wonderful, and there is a small hillside cafe/restaurant to the right which was also superb.

I would also recommend visiting Gradara castle, there's a little train that you can catch if you don't have a car, the castle is very impressive and gives you a real view of what it would have been like to walk around the walls when it was fully functioning and the views as always are breathtaking.

We were quite suprised with this hotel and after walking past many hotels in Gabbice Mare we realized we made the best choice. Hotel Posillipo is on Gabbicce Mont, a small hilltop village above Gabbicce Mare which meant it was quiet and classy but still close to the action of Gabbice Mare.

We checked in and the gave us the Morroccan room which had a very comfy double and bunk beds for our girls and a balcony with side sea views. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was a real treat for all of us, fresh watermelon and the most delicious cakes combined with a stunning sea view - amazing. We had dinner once in the hotel (book in time as its very popular) and it was expensive but amazing. We were a bit skint (we stayed here at the end of our holiday) so did not order starters or dessert but the waiter brought us something small anyway - how cool is that?

The pool was great - sparkling clean and quiet (until we got there). My girls (and I eventually) were the only ones brave enough to swim (refreshing in May) and although the other adult guest shooshed them once we still had a great time. They are just kids having fun and why shouldn't they.

The beach in Gabbicce Mare were great for the kids - play areas, buckets and spades and lovely sea with hermit crabs and shells to collect - this was the real Italian holiday.

We love being there and would reccommend this hotel.
