“Amazing boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

The reviews are superb and well deserved. What a great hotel. Constant smiling service.
Breakfast is just wonderful with a spread that I would say is the best I have ever had.
The standard of food for lunch is also great and delicious.
A nice touch, free afternoon tea and lots of other things. Great pool and gardens.
Would definitely return!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

We have stayed many times at this small hotel over the past 10 years despite the rooms being rather cramped. It has been extended by the addition of some extra rooms and suites which means this quiet hotel has become rather busier than it used to be. However the standards of housekeeping are still extremely high and all the staff are most helpful and polite. The buffet breakfast is excellent and lunches too are delicious. Sometimes the hotel seems to be over run with children and babies - this is a pity as the hotel is in a quiet location with limited space available which does mean that it can be disturbing for those people who have gone there for a quiet rest. The pool and gardens are delightful but there are insufficient umbrellas around the pool area and also in the gardens to cope with all the guests wanting shade from the hot sun a matter which I did take up with the owners of the hotel whilst I was there and they said that they were unaware of this until I had brought it to their attention. The deck chairs and directors chairs around the pool are most uncomfortable for relaxing in and more sun loungers are required . The local beaches have become very expensive and this has resulted in guests choosing to stay and relax around the pool area . The owners Beatrice and Elena are aware of the changing needs of the outside space and have promised to remedy this soon. The busy pool area becomes quite messy during the day as there is no pool attendant on hand to clear up after the guests coming and going.

Room Tip: All the rooms are small in this hotel with the exception of the suites.

Dear Mrs eny_13,

first of all we would like to thank you for the appreciations you have expressed regarding our Villa.
Our main objectives are fulfilled when we can see that our guests enjoy our villa year after year.
It is our guests toghether with our friendly staff, the exclusive location and the peaceful garden that we are able to create this unique atmosphere.
As for the pool area, it is generally never crowded, since most of our guests often decide to spend their day by the beach. Though we have now provided, as requested, more umbrellas, we decided to mantain the director chairs which are in harmony with the style, history and the true essence of Forte dei Marmi.
Anyway we will be pleased to welcome you in our villa next year, with the usual friendly service to assist you in anything you need.

Our kindest regards,

Elena and Beatrice

I stayed at this hotel based on reviews and it's ranking in the area. But, I was not prepared to enjoy my stay quite as much as I did. Where do I begin...

The service was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely relaxed and taken care of. The staff: incredible. Everyone there was immediately available to do anything you needed. Fabrizia and Aliza were two ladies that helped make our stay so nice. It was like being at a spa.

The breakfast spread is out of this world. Amazing fruit, cheese and meats, pastries, salmon, yogurt, cereal, eggs etc if requested. We were completely spoiled. Just when we thought we were spoiled at breakfast... We came back from an afternoon/evening out and ordered a glass of wine. To our surprise, they brought out a plate of appetizers! We were actually a bit hungry because we made a poor choice for dinner (no fault of anyone at VRI). They completely saved the evening. The peaceful grounds, the bird watching, just lovely.

Most of the guests go to the beach or out on the town during the day (who knows why- the beaches cost between €50-200 per day). So we mostly stayed at the pool area. It was very nice and relaxing. And still throughout the day Fabrizia and Aliza were there to offer us whatever we needed.

The area of Forte dei Marmi was just ok in my opinion. It's nice that biking is so easy (which there is a charge per day to rent bikes). The shops were nice, but the best part was the hotel. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I can't wait to return!

This really is a lovely place to stay - great rooms, great staff and wonderful pool area. It also has one of the best breakfasts I have experienced. The only small grumble would be the potential for a bit of noise - it's rather easy to hear what is going in the corridor outside the room, although this did not really affect our stay because our neighbours went to bed and woke at similar times. Strongly recommended.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise try and get them to put you in the right room - its arguably too easy...

This is simply home away from home. The hotel is more of a big villa than a hotel. The rooms are in top shape and very clean, also well maintained. The pool looks amazing and is heated. The breakfast is really top quality, but I think it can use more variety, but really can't complain. The staff treat you in a very friendly way, always with a smile and not a fake one. I would defiantly recommend this place, and I will always return here.

Forte Dei Marmi is an upmarket beach resort that has lately been infiltrated by the rich Russian oligarchs and the high class shops of Prada, Miu Miu, Gucci etc reflect this in the range of shops that display their wares for sale on the main high street which is only a short walk from the beautifully manicured beaches with their deck chairs, sun shades and beach changing hits. August and weekends is when Forte is busiest and the Italians love nothing better than promenading down the high street in their finery.

The hotel is situated on a small side road about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town and is owned by two ladies who have tastefully decorated the hotel throughout in the colours of coffee and cream. Added touches are shell tassels on the curtain cords and parchment lampshades. Even the reception ladies are clothed in the same coffee and cream colours made from the curtain material.

This is a 4 star hotel charging 5 star prices. Forte has always been expensive and this hotel is no exception, but you do get excellent service, great breakfasts and all the comforts of a 5 star establishment.

The rooms are on the small side, most with balconies that have a table and 2 chairs to relax on. There are safes in the rooms although the one in room 24 is so small you could not even fit an
i- pad into it. The barhrooms are also small but have all the accessories such a slippers and bathrobes and a good selection of quality creams and gels. Towels are changed twice a day and there is also a turn down facitlity.

The breakfast area is comfortable under a fabric awning and is open to the pretty gardens. Freshly squeezed orange juice and home made jams can accopany a cooked breakfast if required.

A pretty swimming pool and comfortable sun loungers are surrounded by the 2 person four poster beds which are on the surrounding grass areas make the pool a pleasant and relaxing environment. We were unlucky as there was some building work going on nearby and the sound of drilling and road drills disturbed the peace and solitude of the pool.

The hotel does not have its own private beaches but you can go on the a couple of beaches that the hitel have an agreement with subject to paying their charges. The whole area of Forte Dei Marmi is flat and perfect for cycling and bicycles are available from the hotel and are sometimes charged for by the hotel, but be careful and the front brakes on mine did not work and some have o lights for nighttime riding.

If you want some great food and more individual shops, take a 10 minute drive to Pietrasanta where you will find art galleries and excellent restaurants at prices that are much more acceptable to the pocket.

All in all and excellent hotel, but you have to pay the high price to get it.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the pool side
