“Too expensive for what it offers.”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

It is obvious that this hotel is of minimum expectations. The bed mattresses are too old and you can actually feel the springs. No breakfast available (thank god you can find something to eat at the train station across the road). The worse part: worn off towels with holes. I hate when this happens! How difficult and expensive is it to replace them before they look like rugs?! It's really convenient that is situated 1 min walk from the train station... but I would rather walk more or take a taxi to stay in a more decent place.

Okay - not a five star and lacking in so many ways. But if you want to be close to either the train station or ferries, this would be a good choice. It's on the cheaper side of things, no amenities and anything that stands out. But for our purposes, it was a good compromise. At least the staff was pretty friendly.

Room Tip: No noise from the train station - mind you our view was facing away from there. Location-wise from...

First the bottom line: do not stay at this hotel unless 1) you only other choice is to sleep in the train station; 2) you arrive late in the evening and your depart by train very early the next morning and you only want a place to sleep; or 3) you want the experience of a hostel without the stigma of low cost (you do get a private bathroom to be fair). This last point was based on an observation my daughter made which was “this is like the hostels I stay in but with less comfortable beds”. We had two rooms and stayed 3 nights so we were able to validate the consistency of mediocrity.

Second, let me list the advantages: it is a 3 minute walk from the train station and the rooms appear to be clean (I say “appear” as we spotted ants on the bedding and the bathroom floor).

Third, here is what else should you know. With unlimited time and money, you could not design a more uncomfortable bed. The mattress springs were barely held back by the fabric and the beds did not have box springs. Our double bed had two single mattresses pushed together which in combination with the springs ensured a maximum lack of comfort. Towels are about the thickness of a paper towel. There are no rugs anywhere in the room.

The night we arrived the hotel had lost power – all adjacent buildings were lit up and had power so this was specific to the hotel. The front desk person was in a panic and the situation was not handled well. Power was restored a few hours later.

Also note that ONLY cash is accepted -- no credit cards.

There are far better choices in the town -- spend the extra money.

This is quite a basic hotel but cheap. The towels had seen better days (probably several years ago!) and there is no shampoo or body wash provided (soap bars only).

For a quick cheap stop over it did the job but I would look for a better quality hotel if staying longer
