“Little paradise in the vineyards”
Reviewed July 22, 2010

Just a week ago since we ever so much enjoyed our lovely stay in Azienda Agricola Trere. The last two days of our three week holidays in Italy we spent in Trere, and it was definitely a very good finale of our trip.
Because of the relaxed atmosphere, the space around the cool swimming pool surrounded by grapes after a warm visit to beautiful Ravenna and the Ceramic Museum in Faenza. Nothing better then finishing the day with a fantastic dinner "at Home" in the excellent restaurant, which is run by Trere. We specially enjoyed the home-made caramelised figs and the wines from the farm.
We felt very much at home, because of the helpful and friendly staff and owners, and we will certainly return somewhere in future.

This place was not what we expected. Normaly an agritourism is relaxed and easy goIng. Here there are rules an no hospitality. In the app was a brochure with an explenation of the agri. In the first 4 sentence is written 2 x 'this is not a hotel'.
Yes we know that, an agri is normaly better and easygoing than a hotel. But the receptionists here are not friendly.
The app was dirty but they told us 3 times that we need to clean the kitchen when we leave.
When we stay on a winefarm we want to taste the wines en want to experience te proces. Here you see nothing from te making of the wines and cellar or you have to pay for tasting.

The pool is only for guest who are staying the night BUT from friday till sunday evening whole familly of the owner (20 pers) and all the neighbours are there. No peace and quite but the whole day a lot of noise and no place near the pool for guest. The family makes more noise than the peacocs

The food in the restaurant is superb.

Just returned from a week long stay in a two bed apartment in Trere Agriturismo, just outside Faenza in Emilia Romagna.
Trere is a working vineyard with 6 apartments that they rent out to
holidaymakers
Went there with family of 5, three kids 10,8,6. The apartment was 2 bed, lovely, furnished in a very rustic home from home style.

Basic enough kitchen just microwave and two hobs, so for self catering home cooking whipping up some Spaghetti Bolognese is about as much as you can expect to achieve. The pool was fabulous and with only 6 apartments in total for much of the time you can have the pool to yourself .

The staff were efficient and friendly , and helpful when I was arranging local car rental with my limited Italian.

Property is convenient to all the major towns around Ravenna being about 30 mins drive, Bologna about 40 mins, and Florence about 1 hr, 45 mins, but better to go there by train from the nearest town Faenza ( 7 kms away), and do not to forget to visit Faenza itself it has a lovely centre square.

Faenza also has a big supermarket for all the basics.

My kids were the perfect age to enjoy this place so for any family with kids in the under 10 age bracket I would thoroughly recommend Trere, and would go back in an instant .

  • Liked — the home from home style decor , very non hotel style.
  • Disliked — nothing really

Where do I start...? My remit for a place to stay was "a farm, with a vinyard and somewhere to sit in the sun". Trere was all this and so, so much more. The staff are second to none, given my virtually none exsistent italian!! There is a pool with plenty of loungers and deck-chairs, they have even considered those not so keen on the sun and there is shaded areas.

The restaurant was ottimo!! A good menu with dishes to die for, a previous review did say "not a place to go if you are on a diet" and I whole heartedly agree, you just can't stop yourself eating.

The wines were fantastic, with superb prices, and well packaged if you by bottles as gifts.

There are peacocks, and yes they do make a noise, but they don't hide this fact if you look at the web site, and they are no comparison to the geese that live by my house so they didn't bother me at all.

All in all a brilliant short stay and I can't wait to go back. Already looking at flights!

  • Liked — it was in a nice rura area
  • Disliked — you do have to have a car, but I wanted rural so that's what you need to do

Pleasantly surprised by this agritourismo. The wine, of course, was superb, though we did not get the chance to visit the restaurant as it is closed during the week. Beautiful, spacious and tidy rooms. Be aware of the peacocks and their noisy habits! Highly recommend the wine tasting. Overall, 4 out of 5.

  • Liked — The wine
  • Disliked — The peacocks and the breakfast (did not consist of the peacocks!)

Bologna is a wonderful city but rooms can be pricey especially with kids in tow. So we decided to stay a few miles outside. 'Trere' is about a 20-minute drive from the city. A family-run farm-come-hotel with a splendid and popular restaurant serving local produce and excellent wines. Agritourismo is a great way of enjoying Italy - farms that do wonderful food and cheap rooms. Trere's a little more upmarket, offering quite stylish if small apartments (about 70-90 Euros a night) but well kitted-out and in beautiful surroundings. The big discovery for us was the wine. Emilia Romagna is the home of pasta but also the Sangiovese grape and like most Italian regions, keeps its best kept secrets to itself. For 5 Euros, Trere offered some striking bottles. Yes, bottles. And a stroll through Bologna is a gastronome's dream. Just don't bother if you're on a diet.
