When I was there a couple was literally attacked because they politely complained about another couple children being too nosy.

There were insulted and threatened by thugs while the staff were laughing. They asked to talk to the supervisor and director and they both refused to even talk to them or even apologize.

Later they started harassing a woman.

The couple had to flee after the confrontation was getting violent and the 2 thugs claimed they were the owner's friends and they go there every day, they could do as they pleased.

2 other women were forced to leave the place on that day.

This place is now under criminal investigation.

It's really dangerous for women.

Visited Castello di Casiglio in Erba, Northern Italy, over a weekend stay at the beginning of October as a group of 14 celebrating father’s 80th birthday.

The reservation process which extended over 5 months (family ‘activation’ & decision time) went very smoothly, with prompt information and flexibility from the hotel, clear prices that didn’t change, good counselling re festive dinner menu and very accommodating service from reception staff.

We were offered several dinner options to choose from and adapt to our needs, thus being able to reduce some dishes and build our own menu, which was great for the whole family. So, a couple of weeks before the event all was planned and set; calling back for a final reassuring answer that nothing had changed some days prior to our arrival - all was good and there were no misunderstandings.

Re rooms: we were also able to choose to be accommodated in the same building, Villa Elena, with all the elders on one floor and the younger over different floors, all rooms renovated and nice.

The reception staff (Valentina and Alyssa, I think) was very friendly, spoke good English and showed perfect attitude all during our stay making us feel very welcome. They also helped book a restaurant in Erba outside the property for the first evening, as we wanted to experience a less formal and more authentic local cuisine (which also was a blast!).

The birthday dinner was a success, the waiting staff very friendly and non-intrusive, but always there when you needed them, also allowing for short speeches and pauses between courses. They even organized a presentation screen and additional cable extension on the spot for our funny ppt-quiz.

The four-course meal was great, very well cooked and in appropriate size, with local dishes and accompanied by house wine (here I would advise you to try before you have several bottles opened, we might have chosen a different one than the one offered, but this is a very minor issue) followed by different kinds of desert. Wonderful! The medieval salon with fire place we were seated in was reserved for our party only, it was cosy and elegant, the festive table setting fitting the anniversary dinner perfectly.

What else? We spent some nice late summer sunny hours in the garden behind the villa that features tables and chairs in a gazebo-like place. The pool beneath was not heated but could still be used although pretty fresh at this time of year.
All in all: the perfect spot for a lovely celebration with a good ‘quality-of-goods/price’-balance.

Thank you all who made this short vacation a time to remember for our family, we warmly recommend this hotel to any party wanting to spend leisurely moments not far from very busy Como.

stayed here on a business trip, the castle is stunning as are the grounds and the pool area, it was a bit of a shake down at times. no iron in the room and you general iron area so staff do it and charge you a laundry, bar man over charged us by 100 euro on a bill. id like to think this was just a genuine mistake but he didn't seem surprised or say sorry when it was pointed out. i would be back though lovely setting in the Italian hills.

18 of us stayed in Castello on a business trip, the rooms are excellent as the castle dates back to the 12th century.
The grounds are beautiful and the pool area is excellent.
Breakfast could be a bit better.

Location of this hotel not that far from Como, only 12 km, but traffic in the area is so bad that it can take more than 40 min. The staff at the reception is very, that is the only positive about this hotel. At the beginning we got a room in a second building on a 3rd floor. The room has no windows and A/C turned off because of September. In 4* hotel?!
We ask for a different room and they moved us to the main building. We could open windows, that was nice, but then we got mosquitoes at night. The was so tiny that we could barely moved. Tiny closet, we could squeeze our close in. WI-FI didn't work in our room, both days, so to connect we should go to the lobby. The breakfast was a joke for a 4* hotel, in 2* you can get much better breakfast. So avoid this hotel!
