“There are many hotels in Cortina and it is one of the good ones”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2011

We stayed for 4 nights in late July. The hotel is not in the town center but 10 minutes away on foot on the other side of the stream. It is an easy if scary walk to town as there is no sidewalk/pavement on Ronco St. The room where we stayed, and the whole first floor, maybe other floors too, was entirely redone with traditional wood paneling throughout, very well done - brand new bathroom - huge wardrobes - quality curtains - small balcony. Very comfortable and pleasant.

The hotel is efficiently run, with wi-fi and copious, if not very varied, breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a small wall safe in the room, nice touch.

All in all we were pleasantly surprised for an Italian 3 star, and would come again. Only issue was the choice of TV channels, more than 40 in all of which 37 Italian, CNN, France 24, RTL and one Austrian - a little basic for international visitors.

Room Tip: When driving in or out, take the detour via Ronco (not main road) and enjoy the side road and views

People who find this "the best hotel they ever stayed in" ; I don't think they ever stayed in another hotel. The hotel is VERY old-fashioned, the furniture is from a couple of century's back, Rooms are extremely small. Breakfast was OK. Some staff was OK, others were extremely UNfriendly, especially the man with glasses.

We stayed at Hotel Columbia using it as a base for our skiing trip to Cortina. First and foremost, the hotel is very well located for the main ski-slopes. There is ample parking. The ski-locker is very close to the car-park and is well equipped. The welcome is excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is absolutely spotless, and the rooms are clean, large and bright and are cleaned to the very highest of standards every day. There we plenty of hot water, and the bath and shower facilities were very good. Breakfast is of a classical continental nature, and perfectly adequate for providing you with sufficient energy for the mornings ski-ing. The hotel is reasonably priced and represents very good value for money in a very expensive and relatively exclusive part of Italy. We loved it and would recommend it to discerning travellers looking to stay in Cortina on a reasonable budget. We will be back!

Would come back again any time, lovely breakfast, very helpful and courteous staff, and well located for getting to Socrepes and 5 Torri ski areas, as well as easy access to center of Cortina

Good price, good location, walking distance to the town, parking, clean, pretty, quiet, good staff, nice breakfast, like 15 minutes drive to cinque torre mountains. This is a romantic. Hiking is outstanding.

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend and we both loved it. Late September is not the peak season and we got the best room with a fantastic view of the dolomites. Breakfast was very good and varied with different local cheeses, cured hams, as well as fresh pastries, etc.... Reception was very helpful in explaining us where to do nice treks, where to go for eating, etc.... Room had a perfect temperature, very clean, quiet, cute tyrol design, we had a great stay at Columbia! Generally speaking everybody knows that Cortina is an expensive place and I think this was real value for money!
