We liked this hotel from the start. It is in a beautiful location. It smelled really nice and checkin was easy. Our room was clean and bigger than other rooms we had in Italy. We had not planned to eat dinner at the hotel but we were attracted by the old grand hotel, one serving dinner, at a reasonable price. Generally the food was good to very good. Overall our stay here was bordering on excellent but missed the mark in one simple area: desk service. I wanted to talk to the desk people about setting up our sightseeing day but there was no one around when I went looking for them. We ended up doing our own sightseeing without local recommendations. Also we had to catch an early flight so I cashed out the night before. The desk clerk said he would have some coffee for us in the morning but when morning came there was no clerk and no coffee. We would stay here again but I would like to see more available and committed desk service. This hotel almost received a special award but just missed the mark.
