A fish restaurant in Cortina may sound odd ? Don't worry, just go and enjoy their specialities from the Adriatic sea, the charme of the place and the kindness of the passionate owner. Will surely go back.
Ps: very good value for money!

During a recent visit to Cortina, I learned why Nero di seppia is the top-ranked restaurant in Cortina. It is simply wonderful.
The entire dining experience was marvelous, starting with the owner explaining his recommendations, in Italian. Although we understood nary a word, his passion was manifest and we were gratified when we let him choose our meals.
Each course and each dish in each course was fresh, delicious and marvelous. By the end of the starters, we were nearly sated but managed to muster for the main courses.
My only concern was the end of the meal, when the conto was due, and I was pleasantly surprised that the feast was only 50 euros each. My kind of surprise.
By all means, if in Cortina, eat at Nero di seppia but reserve early because it does fill up.

It was not a long stay in Cortina, but I'm glad we've chosen Nero di Sepiia for a dinner. This is a fish and seafood restaurant, very small (not to say tiny), with its owner talking to you and discussing the choice of food and wine. What we ordered for dinner was his choice of typical Veneto dishes perfectly cooked with excellent wine followed by good grappa. The only negative moment was that it was too much food, but this could not be a reason not to come. And besides - the value for money ratio is excellent.
If you are in Cortina - try Nero di Seppia

The most troublesome thing about this place is getting there. Once you have found it, you'll be surrounded by a constant and chatty presence of its charming owner. Have your translator handy, because he speaks all the languages, as long as it's Italian. He'll tell you, he is from Venice and serves a typical cuisine of the region. I recommend you succumb fully to his enthusiasm and go for a degustation ride whether you understand what you'll be served or not. The food is excellent in its seeming simplicity; all flavors designed to bring the best in the produce of the Venitian lagoon of which some species (like a 'dragon-fly of the sea') I had never seen before, and even less so, eaten. The crowning dish of the evening was a bean soup with shrimp which velvety texture and deep flavors stay with you for a long while. Great place!

I and my boyfriend had decided to spend our last night in Cortina having a dinner at Nero di Seppia. First of all, the service was rather slow, but we did not let that bother us. Otherwise everything went okay until we received our bill. Actually it was not even a bill, but a print from a calculator. When we checked the bill, we noticed that almost everything was rounded up in it. Only the prices of grilled vegetables, water and espresso were correct, so we asked the waiter to bring us the menu in order to make a price check (the differences were not that huge, but we were more annoyed by the fact that the waiter was clearly trying to charge us some extra).

Until the payment, the waiter had spoken English quite fluently, but when the problem occurred, he stopped collaborating with us. We had to ask a random Italian restaurant guest to act as an interpreter between us and the waiter. After a 20-minute negotiation, we managed to get the correct bill and got to leave the restaurant. All in all, it really did not give us a great picture of this restaurant and the way how (some) Italians act in general. The food was okay, but not brilliant.
