GRAND HOTEL SAVOIA, CORTINA D' AMPEZZO, is NOT in the Tyrol/south Tyrol area, which is further west. Some reviewers have thought that Cortina d'Ampezzo is an Italian-German speaking town, but not so, nor was it in the late seventies when I first came here to ski.
The Staff of Grand Hotel Savoia speak Italian, while many speak English and other languages, so help is available in a variety of tongues. The Staff are most helpful whenever possible.
Internet can be very good but there may be difficulties so this time I bought a Sim as I was bringing two(2) devices with me. The plan plus Sim wasn't expensive at all.
The breakfast buffet is not only a delicious and substantial start to a day of action and adventure but also an opportunity to enjoy the many culinary delights which are enticingly presented for people from all walks of life. The service is excellent.
All meals and Service are further enhanced by the 5★ view!

We stayed for one night at this classy hotel and loved it. The rooms are very well appointed, the hotel is well positioned in Cortina, the breakfast was great and the staff were mostly very helpful. Our one disappointment, which prevents me from rating this hotel excellent, was a reception staff member being rather rude to a German speaking member of our group. This staff member clearly understood German but refused to speak it, and judging by the reaction of the other staff, this is a regular occurrence. This is unacceptable behavior for a luxury hotel in a dual language area where at least a third of the hotel's clientele would be German speaking.

Dear Michelle, first of all thank you very much for the nice comments but I am really astonished about the review title and comment about one staff member.
We are not in a duel language area as we are not in Tyrol area. Cortina d'Ampezzo is located in Veneto region and we speak Italian. We have staff speaking German and at the reception one staff member is bilingual italian-german. I really do not understand what you mean and I think it has been a wrong feeling or a misunderstanding.
Warm regards

Stayed overnight on a Südtirol trip because outside and location are quite nice.
However all communications with staff were quite unsatisfactory. There are quite
A lot of people but nobody seemed to know what they are doing or just wanted to be the boss.
Reception is not competent and does not speak german in a duel language area of Italy
Where locals switch between german and Italien instantly.
The hotel is ok but definitely not worth the price and I think you better move a bit out
Of Cortina d'Ampezzo to get better value for money.

Dear Luxury6,
It is unacceptable to receive such a review from two walk-in guests, checked-in late afternoon and checked-out in the next morning. In any case we reply to you.
First of all we are not in a duel language area as we are not in Tyrol area. Cortina d'Ampezzo is located in Veneto region and we speak Italian. We have staff speaking German but probably due to your short visit you did not meet them. As many others five star hotels we have some students who always wear the badge "stage" on the jacket and they are joined to the staff.
Finally reviewing the Hotel in this way without having tried our services is not very close to luxury travelers.

Stayed here while taking part in the Cortina Skyrace.
Arrived late at night so the scenery was in darkness. On opening the curtains in the morning - WOW - what amazing and beautiful views.
The hotel is in a great location, within a couple of minutes walk from the centre of town.
Great breakfast. Good wifi. Nice, spacious rooms. Staff very friendly.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: rooms to the rear of the hotel look out towards the mountains - lovely
