The location and charm of this facility cannot be beat. The staff were wonderful and bent over backwards to see that our stay was perfect. For those of you leary of hotel food please dine at least once in their dining room for dinner. The food was superb and the mussels were the best we had in Europe.

I booked this hotel for 1 night pre Cruise based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. I made the reservatioon directly with the Hotel who were offering a 20% discount for cruise passengers. My reservation was for 2 single rooms. The reservation was swift and efficient I later changed amended my booking to 2 double rooms for single occupancy at a small supplement. When I changed my reservation I also booked private car transfers from the Airport as well as transfer from the Hotel to our Ship the following morning.
During my correspondences with the Hotel I was in contact with Mette, Giovanni, and Paulo. They were friendly efficient and prompt with any correspondence I had with them. So much so that when I arrived at the San Giorgio I felt I already knew them.
On arrival at the Hotel I was greeted warmly by Mette and Giovanni and check in was swift and efficient and we were told both rooms had been upgraded to a sea view.
We were shown to our rooms which were a good size, clean, and had all the amenities I would expect in a Hotel of this standard.
My friend's room was larger as it was on a corner and had dual aspect so was very light.
The Hotel is elegant and looked exactly as I expected from their web site. It is set back from the main road which was busy but not noisy and we were able to sleep with the window and shutters open.
Following check in we ordered some coffee.. I had been told prior to my arrival that a 3 course dinner for euro 25 was available and we booked a table for 7pm. The Hotel had a complimentary cheese and wine tasting and we went along to this around 6pm.
We met 2 other couples there one of whom was on our Cruise. We decided to dine together and the waiters swiftly arranged a table for 6 in the dining room for us.
We dined on the Terrace and spent a very pleasant evening as a prelude to our cruise. The dinner was excellent and the service of a high standard.
The following morning we had an excellent buffet breakfast. Contrary to what I have read on other reviews there was extensive choice which met all our needs.
We departed the Hotel for our transfer to the Ship. Prior to this we decided to book the the Hotel transfer from our Ship to the Airport at the end of our Cruise. Taxi's are paid in cash directly to the Hotel.
The friendly efficient service at this Hotel with all aspects of my reservation and stay make this a firm favourite. I would most definately stay at the San Giorgio should I be in Civitavecchia at some later time.
Would I recommend this Hotel to others ABSOLUTELY!
WELL DONE!

Dear Mrs. Keele
what a wonderful review! Thanks so much, we have really enjoyed it.
As you have noticed all the Civitavecchia Trip Advisor readerson your review, we have tried on our website and our blog to describe the hotel just like it is, and we thank you for having confirmed this.
We are also pleased to read your appreciation for our team especially for the Front Desk which showed a very professional attitude on your behalf.
Our efforts to improve the buffet breakfasts have been recognized by you and other guests and we are happy to have achieved these positive results also thanks to reviews of other guests.
We hope to have the chance to accommodate you on your next Pre & Post Mediterranean Cruise starting from Civitavecchia.
All the Best!!

First, make sure you have a copy of your specifications for your reservation. They will give you something different that is of lower quality. The hotel is not very clean and the rooms show wear. Things are falling apart, ie bathroom grab bar was coming out of wall. Pretty dangerous.

DO NOT TAKE THEIR advice regarding going to a cruise ship. This is a hotel that caters to people who are pre-cruise. It's a five minute walk, not what they tell you. It's so easy and you have ramps to roll your luggage down.

Dear Mrs. Hunt

we did not expect this review from you, as we have not received any complaints during your stay in november, if that were the case we would certainly tried to solve, but we do not understand why you have choosen to communicate your dissatisfaction “only” on Tripadvisor.
You have booked a Deluxe Room with sea view and you have got the room 120, with these characteristics.
The quality is a must for us and we always try to ensure the best service to all our guests.

You give a very negative vision of the Hotel as decadent and dirty , which fortunately does not correspond to reality, We do not exclude that there may have been problems in the bedroom and if so we hope you will accept our apologies.

We kindly remember you that we are in a city with the most important Mediterranean Cruise Ship Port and we are proud to welcome cruise ship passengers from around the world and try to make them feel good for both the pre and post-cruise.
We have never given wrong information other than the fact that the Harbour entrance is at about 500m from 'Hotel, but the platforms can also be a few kilometres away.
Our private transfer services ( at charge) to the Port are offered exclusively on the express request of customers wich want to go directly to the embarkation or disembarkation with the utmost comfort and do not want to load, transport and unload their luggage by themselves.
We are sincerely sorry that your experience with us, has not been up to your expectations, but we do not agree with your comment.
We remain at your disposal for any further clarification.
Sincerely.

Lovely and cheap (costs a third of this hotel) Hotel Miramar in the samme village were booked up so we (3 female swedes) choose Hotel San Giorgio that had large rooms for 3 adults. We arrived very late and were offered a large room for 200 Euro, ordinary price 250 Euro. However, we were shown a more spacy room than that we actually got and in spite of a beautiful furnishing it was not comfortable. The sound from the AC was very disturbing and it was not possible to turn of so we had a bad nights sleep. Breakfast was great.

Dear guests,
despite your comment is very unfavourable to us, we thank you anyway for your opinion.
We do not understand anyway how you can give a rating for an hotel where you haven't been in.
Regarding the prices we remind you that we are dealing with two completely different hotels: for types, categories and services and therefore this difference is fully justified.
As from your review, we confirm that you have visited our hotel in the afternoon and there was shown the room 107 (Category Dlx). Upon your arrival, after having applied a discounted rate of 20% you have been allocated in the room 114 (same category, same floor, same facilities) that was the only available room for 3 persons at that time.
As you said the room was elegant but uncomfortable (?!).. (the private bathroom and the beds are the same where all our guests have stayed and found themselves at ease, and where at present we haven’t received other complaints.
We are obviously sorry for your opinion, but without having a specific complaint it is difficult to give you a specific answer.
Regarding the Air Conditioners , after the summer we have been noticed from our clients regarding noises coming from some machines ( that are all less than 3 years old) and we have managed the problem by replacing all those that didn’t work properly. ( We take this opportunity to remember our future guest that all the rooms are provided with a remote control from where is possibleto adjust the internal temperature and of course turn the AC off.)
We are pleased that you enjoyed our buffet breakfast but we are really sorry for the inconvenience you had and clearly hope to have you again as our guest to make you fully appreciate our hotel.
We wish you all the best.

We stayed at the Hotel S. Giorgio the night before our cruise sailing as a last-minute decision. We had been planning to take the train from Rome the morning of embarkation but learned that the trains might be on strike. Our cruise company agents referred us directly to the owner of the S. Giorgio. She was not in when we called, but Giovanni readily made our reservation after speaking with her and offering us a reduced rate. (Thank you!) He also offered to have table ready for us at either lunch or dinner; we reserved for dinner but made our own plans for lunch. Giovanni greeted us when we arrived and gave us a lovely room in front overlooking the sea. The hotel is very old-style European, with a grand entrance and high ceilings. Its location on the lungomare is perfect. It was very stormy the day we arrived and we enjoyed watching the unusually large waves at the breakfront. Our room was spacious and well furnished, and the TV offers a selection of international channels and music. We usually like to dine at local restaurants rather than in a hotel, but we wanted to relax and not deal with the bad weather. I'm glad we decided to eat in the dining room. Though there were not many diners that night, the food and service were excellent. Note for train travelers and cruisers: the S. Giorgio is between the train station and the cruise ship port. It is a pretty easy walk from the station to the hotel. It can be difficult to get a taxi to the port, but the distance to the port shuttle area is walkable if you are reasonably fit. The S. Giorgio is between the train station and the port entrance. The hotel staff will arrange a car, for about 23 euros.

We had a most wonderful stay at the Hotel San Giorgio.

We had booked in for the night before picking up a cruise. We arranged transport with the hotel from the airport to Civitavecchia. As the plane landed early in the morning we had arranged storage of our bags at the Hotel whilst we toured Rome.

When we arrived at the Hotel, at about 9:00 AM, they offered us a complimentary breakfast and informed us that our room would be ready in about ten minutes. After 24 hours on planes and in airports that was wonderful news.

The room had beautiful views over the Med.

The train station was only 5 minutes away so it was easy to commute to Rome.

We had dinner in the Hotel and it was perfect. The wine service was excellent and the meal was very good.

All of the staff we met were helpful and courteous. It seemed that everthing we asked for was provided quickly and easily.

The room was a good size for us not to big and not to small.

We could not have imagined a better start to our holiday.
