“The worst hotel I have ever used”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

dirty room and bathroom
old furnitures
dirty carpet
The breakfast was ok (although limited variety)
Close to the port (about 500 m from the shuttle buses).
Too expensive for the services it offers.
The hotel needs an extensive renovation. At least they can paint the walls in the rooms which are very dirty.

After reading the reviews and looking at the photos I was afraid that we had made a BIG mistake in booking this hotel for one night prior to a cruise. Was I in for a surprise! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and overlooked the water. There was no balcony but the window opened and was large. The bedding was clean. The bathroom was clean and the only complaint I have is the showerhead comes right out of the ceiling and cannot be adjusted. We did not see any bugs at all. The area was nice and we went for a long walk after dinner. Breakfast was typical for Europe and tasted good. We would recommend this hotel for anyone needing to be near the port.

I have to say that all the people at the hotel were very polite, however the service not so good. Rooms would be acceptable if they were clean. One of the rooms we had a leak from the room above, hotel solution was to put a towel on the floor. We were there for only 2 nights so it was not worth waisting time for us. The town was pretty but it was only a night base for us. I would not go there again even if it was still a good price.

This hotel was digusting. Stairways, hallways and room in desperate need of updating. Shower was loaded with mould. The rooms are nothing like what they show on the website. They made us pay the night in advance. ......probably knew I would refuse to pay full amount after I spent the night. The only thing going for it is the location and view if you get if you have room in the front. The breakfast is adequate.
We landed up there as our original hotel was overbooked and this is where they brought us, therefore I never got to read reviews on it beforehand.

we booked online 4 days in this hotel and it was a very bad surprise. As soon as we get into the room, everything was at least 50 years old, without maintenance, the toilet and the shower were just awful, the moquette was dirty, many things broken. I sat on the bed and a cockroack (black beetle) run between my feet.
The day after I asked to move in a room without moquette and I bought the baygon spray to avoid other meeting with beetles.
also the new room was in the same bad condition and the bathroom was even worste.
A very poor breakfast completed the picture. The price for this minus than one star was very high and what they say on internet about modern and renovated hotel was true only for the reception hall.

We ended up in this hotel for one night after booking on-line and paying in advance. In a nutshell, the place is a mess – not taken care of, very dirty, with everything done minimally and on the cheap. The façade, lacking most of the name of the hotel, advertises well what to expect inside. On the way to the room we were given, we noticed that the walls were covered with black scuffs (from hauling luggage, or from the cleaners’ carts?) that must have accumulated over years without being cleaned or repainted. Everywhere, paint was chipping, and bits of wood edgework were coming loose. In our room, we found in addition to the usual mess a nice big footprint on the wall at about chest-level. We also found a dead bug that had been squashed against another wall slightly lower, perhaps by the same foot but evidently without the shoe because there was no print. In the accompanying photographs, check the spot circled in red by the lamp, and the blow-up. Based on all of the marks and the bugs (yes, plural: see below), the cleaning staff must be instructed to ignore the walls. When we complained about the awful state of our room, the front desk guy was nice enough to give us a room in the same price category that was wallpapered, without footprints on the wall, and with a view of the sea. But it was equally dilapidated, and also, remarkably, had another dead bug squished to a wall. We wondered if perhaps they do a weekly bug-scraping, and we were unlucky enough to come the day before. We also wondered why we were initially given a view of the parking lot, when a view of the sea was available at check in. Breakfast was worth paying to avoid: one kind of bread, a plate of ham and cheese slices that had ran out and not been replaced, coffee that wasn’t worth drinking (most places at least have a handy machine that can whip out different coffee drinks, done with a quality level of robotic dependability, independent of the quality of the establishment), one kind of milk, and a few oranges – we got the last two. 15 minutes later, as we were about leave, having sampled the coffee, bread, and oranges (of which, the latter were actually quite good, I can give them that), a grumpy lady materialized to pick up the long-empty ham and cheese tray. She disappeared into the kitchen, and reemerged after some time with a similar plate that was quickly picked-over by the protein-deprived guests. The oranges were never replenished. Overall, this hotel fails in every category, but receives spectacularly low marks on cleanliness.

Room Tip: The rooms are all terrible.

This hotel was a real contradiction. As we arrived at it and saw the peeling paint and the rusty balconies we started to get concerned. The reception area was nice so we were marginally relieved until we made the way down the passage to our room. The passages made you feel like you were in an absolute dump of a hotel, certainly not worthy of the supposed 3 stars. When we got to the rhe itself, it was OK with one redeeming feature: clean, crisp white sheets.

The place had also received some Michelin awards in previous years (the last being 2009), but the breakfast (which was included) was so substandard we did not even bother having any once we saw the pitiful display and went elsewhere.

We had ordered a quad room but what we got was clearly a regular double room with 2 extra single beds (one of which was terrible) squashed into it.

The view from the blacony was good as you can see the ocean but the balcony itself, very shabby. The bathroom was clean and OK but the toilet seat was loose.

The room had some form of aircon but no in-room controls (there was one but the controller was broken and just went round and round)so you couldnt make it any cooler and so with 4 of us inside it was like a small sweatbox at times in the heat of July.

Would I stay there again? Definitely not which is something I have never said about a hotel in all the reviews I have written thus far. There are loads of choices in this town catering for pre and post cruisers so I will look elsewhere next time should I find myself starting my cruise off from here.
