“Pre-cruise Comfort.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

I selected Miramare for it's location, using Google Maps, and the hotel was exactly what we were looking for.
Location, surroundings, comfort, cleanliness and service. It may not have a "bar", as such, but all is available and the facilities are enhanced by not having a "pub noise". Plenty of scope for beer and wine, which we enjoyed in the restaurant area. Delicious food, good menu.
I gave it 10/10.
Maureen was happy. No further recommendation required!
Thank you, Dario.
Cheers, Mike Evans. (Lotus Jim)

Room Tip: Top floor, overlooking the harbour.

We stayed at this hotel the night before we joined a Celebrity cruise and found it to be excellent. The rooms were very large and comfortable although a bit basic. There was no bar which was disappointing as we tend to like to stay in the hotel to drink but there were plenty of other options nearby. We did eat in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent and reasonably priced, as was the wine. Service was very friendly and a shuttle service was offered for transportation to the cruise ship for a small fee of 5 euros per person.

Would definitely stay there again should we need to stay another time.

We stayed one night prior to a cruise with Celebrity. We were surprised at the very poor reception area and the entrance to the accommodation. Breakfast was very basic and consisted of pre-packaged products although cofee was good. The bedrooms were clean but the beds very hard, the bathroom had a strange smell and could do with upgrading.

The best point about the stay was the view from the balcony and it's location to the train station and port. We walked to the entrance of the port where free shuttles will take you into the port.Overall okay for a one night stay although at the cost of 100 euros per night is quite high for the standard provided.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

We stayed one night in October, 2011 prior to boarding a Royal Caribbean cruiseship. Our
room was comfortable and clean and looked very much like the pictures advertised for the
hotel. Our room had a queen bed (very firm bed), hardwood or laminate floor, bedside tables, small fridge,a desk and chair, and a closet. We were on the second floor, which we reached via a tiny elevator (only room for 2 with luggage). The room boasted a very small balcony but the view of the ocean was lovely. We arrived at about 3pm and were very hungry, but at 4pm most places were closed. The Gran Caffe, a short walk away was one of the few open restaurants. They make a great anchovy pizza - very reasonably priced. Hotel Miramare is a very short walk from the train station, but we chose a hotel arranged pick-up from the Rome airport. It is expensive for 2 passengers, but through the cruise critic message board, we found another couple to share. Apparently, taking the train in from the Rome airport is very cheap ( I think about 10 euros each) but we did not want to struggle with all our luggage. The Rome airport van pickup was efficient and painless. The bathroom was very small and clean with a toilet, bidet and small shower- adequate for an overnight stay. The hotel is a modest one, and is also modestly priced . Our overnight stay was on a Saturday, and there was a wedding either at our attached restaurant, or very nearby. It was noisy until 1am, but fellow cruisers who were 1 floor higher claimed they had no noise issues.Breakfast was a cold buffet with breads, rolls, cakes, cheese, cold meats, yoghurt, coffee and juice - very adequate . Walking to the cruiseship transfer pick-up is possible from Hotel Miramare- we saw lots of people walking with suitcases (a 10-15 minute walk) but the taxi was only 5 euros each (8 passengers in the van) and the taxi deposited us very near to the cruiseship porters. If you walk to the cruiseship bus pickup, you have to load your luggage on the bus, and unload it. I chose convenience. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. On check-in, the front desk asks for your passport to input information. Overall, except for the noisy wedding guests, we had a very good stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise if there is a wedding party in progrss.

I stayed here in May 2011.... I stayed overnight before joining a cruise ship.
The port is only a 10 minute walk or 5 min taxi ride to the ships. The rooms are very large. Although corridor and lift are small. It's very clean and well looked after. Suitable for a longer stay or overnight. Continental breakfast is tasty and overall, it's value for money. Would reccommend friends to stay here.

Room Tip: Corner room.... although worth a seaview.

We booked the Hotel Miramare based on tripadvisor ratings, and it's first class! Using the Hotel for a 1 night stayover to a Celebrity Equinox cruise, we were VERY pleasantly surprised. The staff, very nice and helpful, a GREAT room with a balcony overlooking the ocean, very good breakfast, with the best Italian coffee of our trip, served by a lovely, nice breakfast host. If you are looking for a bargain for a stopover, Hotel Miramare is the one! Also we enquired about nearby Hotel San Giorgio repeatedly and got NO RESPONSES , so we chose Hotel Miramare, and for less than half the price of San GIorgio, got an EXCELLENT room!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, for a ocean view

We just returned from our cruise, and we had booked this hotel prior to leaving the States. Since we were pickpocketed in the Roma metro, by the time we got to our hotel, we were both overtired, hungry and grumpy. We were not expecting this hotel to be anything more than just a bed to get us through the night, so that we could really start our vacation the next day when we boarded the ship. We were delighted to get to our room, open the French doors onto the balcony, and there was the ocean with gentle waves lapping the shore. (Our room was number 11) We will return to this hotel in the future - cruise or no!! The bath was clean and modern and the bed was so comfy we slept until checkout time!! Hotel is a very short walk from the train station, and the walk to the port is do-able (we are in our early 60s, and had fully packed Rick Steves backpacks!)

Room Tip: Room 11 balcony overlooks the ocean.
