In March 2013 four of us booked and paid for 2 rooms to be used in September 2013. We made our decision to stay here based on the good reviews we read. When we arrived we were told by the manager that they didn't have rooms available for us. They had taken in a tour bus and opted to give them our rooms. They made arrangements for us to stay in another hotel in town that was a much lower quality and lacked the amenities we had paid for. We had to go back to the Alexander and complain. They just shrugged their shoulders and said they were sorry. After wasting half the afternoon arguing with them they finally put us in a better hotel. I thought that when you made and paid for a reservation that it would be guaranteed. I guess it was more important to them to get more money for a greater number of people than it was to honor it's original commitment. For that reason I would not recommend this hotel. I don't feel they can be trusted.

Room Tip: The Hotel Excelsior in the same town was very nice and I would recommend it over the Alexander Palme.

The hotel staff in general were most attentive and friendly, but the restaurant staff were exceptional. To help our group join in celebrating our wedding anniversary, the chef and staff produced an exquisite multi-course dinner that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Overall, a great overnight experience!

Stayed here at the beginning of a recent tour of Italy. This was by far the best hotel we stayed in. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff helpful, courteous and obviously interested in making sure we had a good experience, which wasn't always the case at other Italian hotels. The food was excellent. In fact the food and service was the best we had in Italy. Overall a very good experience.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on a tour of Italy and was treated by the hotel to a fabulous 7 course meal. The food was excellent. The wait staff were very polite, helpful and they spoke various languages, so communication was not a problem. The rooms were clean. The location and setting were just charming.

We stayed in 5 different hotels on our 10-day tour with Educational Opportunities and we're still talking about our dinner and stay at the Alexander Palme! They set up our group of 15 in a separate dining area and served us a 6 course meal. The food just kept coming! They brought both red & white wine with dinner and a fabulous strawberry sparkling wine with dessert. I took a pic of the label and will look for it in TN! We chose to have pre-dinner wine at a table on the lovely front patio as the evening began. The saff was so gracious and kind that they made us feel like family. I would love to stay here again!

Room Tip: The windows open to allow a magnificent breeze to pass through, so I would choose a room on a higher floor with a view.
