Hotel Alexander Palme
Ranked #37 of 81 Hotels in Chianciano Terme

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, and changed rooms immediately after finding an ants nest.
The second room was better, but was not that clean! the bed was comfortable though.
The dinning room had loads of flies flying around (need some EFK), but the girls were friendly and helpful.
The food was not that special, and only ate 2 nights out of the 3.
I would not class this hotel as a 4 star more like a 2 star.
It was quite old fashioned, but they are trying to modernise it.
Its all down to personal taste, I for one would not stay here again!

I spent 5 nights here as a part of a Cosmos Tour of Tuscany. The hotel is a little fade grandeur - and the lack of heating in the rooms during a cold May wasn't perfect! But the hotel is good, lots of character and very clean.

However - the staff in the hotel were WONDERFUL - it is worth visiting just to experience the warmth and welcoming ladies in the restaurant with special reference to Claudia and Betty! Whether at breakfast or at dinner time - their smiling faces and little practical jokes made everyone feel so welcomed.

The food was good - with 5 course each night (plus they give you champagne on your 1st and last nights) - and they made a special effort to provide me with a vegetarian option.

We stayed for 3 nights as part of Newmarket Holidays 7 Cities Tour. An excellent choice of hotel, old and quirky - yes, BUT warm and welcoming from the staff. Claudia and her girls were excellent.
We both enjoyed the food, 4 courses with limited choices but very hot and tasty and a salad buffet. Breakfasts were buffet style with unlimited filter coffee and tea.
This hotel is on a steep hill which did not lend itself to easily walking around but as we were not there for long periods it did not matter.
The rooms were spotless and the shower excellent although floor slippery when wet.
Please read my review of NEWMARKET HOLIDAYS as this did not equal the quality of the hotel.

Just returned from 7 cities of Rome tour and stayed 3 nights here, dinner bed and breakfast.

We felt really welcome from the moment we arrived , Claudia and her staff went that extra mile and were funny, friendly and cheerful at all times.

Food was delicious, with more than enough to eat and catered for vegetarians and meat eaters.

The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable.

I would love to stay here again and would recommend a stay in this hotel.

Well where do I start, It was quite an experience staying here on a very hectic trip. BUT it was a real treat the food was so delicious 5 courses Champagne from the owner when we first ate & again on our last evening meal. I could do with a couple of recipes from here as I loved it so much. the staff were so very friendly & Claudia was a character all of her own. I wasnt well on one of my days & she was so very kind. and the rest of my stay she kept an eye on me asking me if I was ok & then just an odd wink. she played a few tricks on some of the guests that was so funny. Very welcoming lovely Bar & Lounge. The rooms were very clean with a fridge a bonus for me. would recommend everyone experience this lovely hotel Food MMMmmmmmm. 1st class we were very spoilt.

Excellent welcome on arrival , Claudia and her staff provided excellent service very friendly and cheerful.
Food was also excellent, more than enough to eat and good variety for vegetarians and meat eaters.
The room was very clean, little basic but very clean. The only fault as found with other hotels in Italy is that there are no tea making facilities in the hotel room

We have just got back from Newmarkets 7 Cities of Italy Tour. This is ideal as a taster to see whether you wish to have longer stays in Italy. Very tiring and without enough consideration to comfort stops and opportunities to get food during the very long days out. This needs seriously looking at by Newmarket as it was a problem. No food was allowed on the coach and 10 - 15 minute comfort stops en route did not allow time to buy food or drink at all. 6am was the normal time for breakfast with departure at 7 am.! However we thought this holiday was extremely good value and certainly makes us want to return to Italy in the future but we will certainly look harder at the details before booking!

This hotel was a delight after our awful stay at La Perle at Riva del Garda. The welcome we ,received was lovely, champagne from Claudia and her staff with dinner both on arrival and departure. Lovely large room, very clean and the shower etc. was also very good. The bar is very nicely furnished with white leather sofas and the barman having a style all of his own - you will have to go to find out what I mean - great fun. Yes the outside does look a little jaded and it is a walk down to any shops but after a busy, noisy and long day out it was lovely to return. Would go here again but only as part of a touring holiday for a few nights.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main house and not in what looks like a 60's addition.
