I've read some reviews and all i can say is you all went before the hotel had a revamp.BAD POINTS-Hotel is on a hill so you have to be fit to leave the grounds, and the lift can only take two people with luggage at one time. GOOD POINTS- you are met by friendly helpfull staff that can't do enough for you. The rooms are very clean, the towels look like table cloths but do a far better job than the thick ones. The airconditioning comes on at seven pm like clockwork.the food is excellent although i dont like sea or lake fish, they will always insist that you are found an alternative. The waitresses cant do enough for you and are on the ball with what ever you need and all the while they can't stop smiling. you get 5* treatment. Would i go again? OH YES! Julie Adams cardiff uk

Room Tip: if there is a queue for the lift and you are on the 1st floor and are able to carry your bags up you...

We stayed here for 5 nights, the room was nice but airconditioning did not work, we were over the main road, but not to bad with bathroom door shut.
Dining room staff were brilliant, watch out for Claudia she was especially good and seemed to be team leader.
Food was very good and plentiful, although breakfast was a standard cotinental, you can't do a lot with that, bar was OK with good entertainment on the friday night.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back should be quieter.

We stayed in this hotel for a night. We chose it because it was close to our destination in our road trip. We thought that it was a four star hotel but the reality is that they have a very good photographer since the rooms are not as they are shown in the pictures. The hotel and the rooms are old, it looks like a residence. Smells bad. No towels, just cloths. No restaurants around. The personal doesnt speak English, very poor breakfast. The Wifi connection was not working and the day we checked out the terminal was not working either. It finally worked but we got three charges of the hotel in our visa!
Under no circumstances this is a four star hotel, avoid it!

We travelled with Archers/Cosmos as part of a tour. When we got to our room we found that the air conditioning didn't work. We were promised that it would be fixed by "tomorrow at the latest". Having seen previous reviews we were sceptical about this and spent a horrible night with no sleep. We had to open the bedroom windows to try to cool down but the room was still hot and there was traffic going past all night. Luckily our tour guide managed to get us transferred to the Hotel Moderno the next day, which was a much nicer hotel, even though both hotels were supposed to be 4 star. The air conditioning in the Alexander Palme never got fixed and I would be surprised if it ever works again!

We were placed in this hotel by Newmarket holidays whilst on their 7 cities tour. Neither of our hotels were what was advertised. This one is supposed to be 4 star but it does not merit that rating. It is fairly clean, but very run down and shabby. Two couples in our group had broken air conditioning. The girls in the dining room were lovely, but their friendliness could not distract from the appallingly poor food. On one evening the main course was a slab of mozzarella cheese on a piece of toast and on another evening vegetable pie turned out to be a hard pastry case stuffed with stewed spinach! I would never choose to stay here again. A word of warning if you do - don't accept a room at the front. You will get no sleep with the traffic thundering past half the night.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the front facing the main road.

We stayed at this hotel with Newmarket Holidays the only plus sign it has is the dinning room girls where very friendly and helpfull. The rest of staff couldnt crack a smile. Bar staff (what bar staff) always had to go looking for someone. All areas where dirty even your room. The hotel is very old. We had a shared balcony, would have been nice if that could have had a mop this year. Would never stay here again or tell anyone else to.

Newmarket Travel placed us here with no opportunity to change. This hotel was supposed to be a 4 star; I would rate it as a 1 star for accommodation and perhaps a 3 star for food. The air conditioning in our room did not work. The furnishings were old, worn and very primitive. The exterior of the hotel looked dilapidated. There was one scruffy small ancient lift for the whole hotel that carried up to four people. Our balcony was very small, the timber access doors were rotted, the metal work corroded and the side panels were cracked and holed. I find it difficult to believe anyone would stay here by choice; but with Newmarket travel you have no choice. The only consolation is the staff were very good and did their best to make us happy.
No wonder Newmarket Travel was rated bottom of the pile in the recent Which report.

Room Tip: No recommendation
