“Spotless with lovely staff”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Very clean rooms and communal areas. Cleaners smiley and polite and evening restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating. The food is fine - lots of courses ensured that there was something for everyone each evening. It is a canteen style dinning room but as they are catering for coach parties eating all at the same time I think this is acceptable and well organised. Take a proper hairdryer if you have to style your hair as the ones provided are only useful for drying off short hair. Also a travel kettle, adaptor plug, cup and teabags are essential items to pack as there are no facilities in the rooms.
We travelled with Shearings - the journey there is FAR LONGER than you can possibly imagine. It is seriously quicker to travel to Australia! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRIP FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY OR CIRCULATION PROBLEMS. You spend MANY hours on the coach across the trip ( at least 87 hours if you live in Northern England) and several passengers had very swollen legs and joint pain and most places visited have very steep hills, including Chianciano itself. There is a toilet on board the coach and regular comfort stops. The only place we visited with no public toilets was Sant Antimo.

Room Tip: The single supplement does not give you a double room or a balcony. You can pay this and still be in...

Stayed at this hotel as part of a shearings holiday. the hotel was clean and tidy, unfortunatley the dining room was like a school canteen and the food was even worse! do not stay here if you are expecting a nice italian dining experience, powered soup and powered mash!. my other complaint being the location of the hotel at the top of a very steep hill and no mention of this in the brochure. people should be forworned this is no good for the elderly or people with walking difficulties definatley would not stay here again!.

Stayed here with Shearings The hotel was well maintained with comfy lounges & spotlessly clean corridors. The swimming pool & sun lounges, at the rear of hotel, were also lovely.

The only failure with the hotel was with regard to the dining arrangements :- Upon entry the large atmospheric dining room was disappointing. Breakfasts were good & plentiful apart from absolutely tasteless fruit juice and tea making facilities that were limited meaning we rarely obtained a lovely hot cup of tea. The main dining disaster was with the evening meal. There were 5 courses and the first 2 courses soup & pasta were always good. The buffet salad was plentiful but we were let down by the main meal and deserts. For example one night the main course was 'beef stew' which upon being served we found consisted of 2 'lumps' of beef with one portion of green beans and a minute spoonful of gravy, the majority of the large plate being completely empty.
The deserts were uninspiring, whole fresh fruit a couple of nights and blancmange type deserts on a couple of nights.

Room Tip: Try & get rooms at front of hotel, rooms at back facing directly onto back rooms of another hote...

Had very nice stay at this location, but if not on a coach tour beware its all hills. We were on a Leger Tour so no need to walk anywhere but in n out of hotel. The location in the hills of Tuscany is great with fab views in n out.The hotel itself is very good with good staff etc.The food was well cooked and plenty of it,dinner was:- soup, then pasta, then salad, then main, then sweet, not bad for 3 star. The room we had was quite large and had views over to hills.overall a good hotel.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, the rooms where cleaned everyday, I think the dining room let the hotel down it looked like a canteen, it had no atmosphere at all. I could not fault the breakfast, apart from the juice, which was like water. The evening meal left a lot to be desired, one night we had 'mashed potatoes' which we all agreed was 'smash', & I don't call a bowl of fruit dessert. Although the town was beautiful the climb back to the hotel was torture.

Stayed here as part of a Shearings coach holiday, the rooms were cleaned daily, although one of the cleaning staff threw away part of a medical device I was using halfway through the week, the other staff had left it alone, needless to say I was not pleased and complained to management about it! The hotel itself was very nice and tidy and on a main bus route so getting about wasn't a problem. The meals however were another story! The Restaurant staff were ok but rushed you between courses, the soup & pasta were, as a general rule, ok and the salad as previously commented on was a bit of a rugby scrum! The main meals however were very poor, and, other than the salmon & fish, were inedible. The portions were ludicrously small and of very poor quality, veal which was like no veal I've ever tasted, vegetable pie with spinach, courgettes and a crust so thick you could build a house on it and various mystery meats which you could use as shoe leather quite easily! I realise this is a 3 star hotel however I do expect that the food is edible and of reasonable quantity. It was so bad that on the final night we went to a local restaurant and had a beautiful meal. I cannot see how this hotel can advertise that it serves traditional Tuscan food as it is far from it.

Very nice rooms with Marble floors. Spotlessly clean with comfortable beds, large bathrooms, in room safe, minibar and air conditioning. Balcony a little on the small side however. The hotel is in a very quiet area, which might well be for you, however I thought it lacked severely in atmosphere. The restaurant staff however let the place down. They were very abrubt, storming around with scowls on their faces like wanting to eat a meal in the hotel was a massive inconveniene to them. The food was above average, althought the breakfast selection was extrememly limited compared to many italian hotels I have stayed in. It was quite clear they were doing whatever possible to cut costs, for example the orange juice provided with breakfast was watered down to the point it was more like extremely weak orange squash than juice. There was barely any taste to it.

The salad selection at dinner was also extremely limited and was exactly the same each day. I can't say I ever really enjoyed a meal as such, but I didn't go hungry. They also offered no flexiblity at all. On the first day we had not been able to select our meals as we were not there for breakfast. The main was pork, with no fish or vegetarian option. One family staying there do not eat pork and they were not offered an alternative so they had to settle for a plate of chips.

One waitress was also quite rude, walking from table to table shouting "PEAS!", in the end not even asking and just putting things on peoples plates regardless.

They seemed to rush you between courses, they would put the salad course out and then start serving the main whilst people were still eating salad from their plates. One night in particular one lady had just started eating a plateful of salad when the waitress starting bringing round the peas that accompanied the main course. Without even asking the waitress just spooned peas onto the guest's plate along with the salad.

Other than that it was quite a pleasant stay. Word of warning the hotel is located at the top of a VERY steep hill and as such if you have moblity difficulties it would be wise to consider alternatives. Also on that note, there is no ramp for wheelchair access to the hotel itself and the lifts are very small.
