when we came with Newmarket Holidays last year we stopped at the hotel next door(which has now closed down)and the Montecarlo was much better.I think this is the standard of hotel you can expect from Newmarket the Moon Valley was such a suprise, just great. But this hotel did the job for the amount of time you spend there, being out all day on trips.Room ok,food ok,staff ok but the aircon was turned of for periods during the night and day and as we had temps of 30c+ this was unfortunate.I think the amount of visitors is going down and this is making hard for places to break even,Italy is getting more expensive each year. All in all a great holiday but you must go on all the trips out, some people took rest days and missed wonderful sights.

Just returned from our stay at this hotel
Hotel receptionist Laura fabulous (she's wasted on this hotel), made this place for us, (also our tour guide excellent too)
the rest, well in a bit of a state of delapidation (altho very clean)
Nice fresh towels everyday
Our shower room waste flooded every day, and gave off nasty smells, and erupted all sorts of dirty water, and worse, so had to use shower by the pool daily.
Deck chair/lounges on roof, mostly splitting, need replacements, infact hotel needs a bit of a overhaul, looks like not much been done since 1964 (building date??)
Pool lovely tho, altho roof top bathing area cordened off (maybe collapsed in part?)
Food a bit bland, and sorry a bit slop/ baby food - ish
Daily salad consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, grated carrot and also sweetcorn, served with every evening meal.(no variation, not even cucumber added!) plus the required balsamic/oil dressings.
No exciting food what so-ever, disappointed in the fact no Italian Ice Cream served, and seemingly shop bought desert cakes, of a low standard imo.
By the way , noticed the Italians staying full board at the hotel, got offered a better breakfast and evening meal than us (ie they were offered fresh croissants, while we all had to manage on long life sealed ones!) Their evening meals looked way more appestising too.
Only one small lift in the hotel,
very old /antiquated TV (altho not in Italy to watch it)
and Air Con only on for limited amount of time (I.e. switches off around 1.00 and doesn't come on until around 3 pm next day)
No Wi-Fi available.
As usual with Italian hotels of all standards, no tea and coffee facilities in room, altho hairdryer supplied, and some people did have baths, with a 'short' shower stem over it (no shower curtains tho)
On a plus point, nice location in small town, can walk to bars/shops etc.. and take a local bus.
With the exception of the receptionist, would have no reason to stay here again.

Atfer our previous hotel on the Newmarket tour this was a huge disappointment. The food was always cold when served and had obviously been standing for some time. The choice was poor and it was a good job there was salad each night. The rooms were clean and there was a change of towels each day, but I think the shower in our room 210 was for a midget !! They did leave us a packed breakfast for our early morning departure but it had obviously been standing in a warm room all night as all of our party threw the sandwiches away. The area was really nice and we had a great view from our room, it waas just a pity the food let it down .

This was the 2nd part of our Classic Italy Tour. The hotel is family run and they were very nice. Small hotel, clean, lovely views over the Tuscan countryside and there is a pool on the roof which was freezing but welcome after a hot day's sightseeing. Plenty of shops and bars in thae area and safe to walk. The only drawback again was the food - slightly bigger portions and choices but overcooked and uninspiring. Once more tea and coffee making equipment missing (maybe this is the norm in Italy) would recommend this as a budget hotel for a few days but you need to buy in some nibbles!!

Room Tip: Ask politely to change

Continental breakfast was good, dinner also with plenty of second helpings. Nothing too much trouble for staff who were cheerful and very helpful. Towels changed daily, room also cleaned daily, Svetlana did a fab job!

Room Tip: Rooms on reception side are quiet

We travelled with Newmarket Holidays Clasic Italy tour, last minute change to this hotel, the evening temps plunged and the heating didn' t work in our room, dispite asking the owner and the tour guide nothing was done to fix it. The radiator in the bathroom was controlled by the owner and was turned on for about an hour a day, hence when we arrived back late afternoon and wanted a shower the only way to get any heat was to turn on the hair drier. The food was dreadful, salad consisted of carrot, lettuce, sweetcorn and tomato every night, followed by pasta and one meat one veg. It was a pity they chose this miserable hotel because the tour was well organised and we were always going somwhere different.

First hotel Panorama Palace in Meta. Should have been the Moon Valley.Tour booked with Newmarket travel.
Montecarlo is the second of our rearranged hotels due to over booking. Met up with another Newmarket Travel group on one outing, they had stayed at the stated Moon Valley Hotel, but were also moved to another hotel than intended for the second half of the trip. Got the idea they too felt let down by the standard of accomodation.
The Montecarlo is of a higher specification in comparison with our first hotel.
Sadly, let down by a poor choice of food. Their offers of second helpings couldn't make up for the main meal quality.
Disappointed that it did not offer a more traditional Italian menu.
It would have enhanced the stay, in my opinion.
Family run business that tried, but could do better.
I think that everybody in the group was of the same opinion.
Superb party of people, that gelled and made the holiday so much more enjoyable.
A big thankyou to you all.

Hotel was clean, light and airey.
Rooftop pool and terrace looked inviting, superb views from here, sadly again only the hotel next door, for our view. Room was overlooked.
Situated in a much up market area, cafes, restaurants and high class shops nearby.
Live music and dancing available in the cafe's, but no rowdiness, just a nice atmosphere, with mainly local people enjoying their time, and eating gelate.
Nice to have looked into a different culture.
