“Lovely seaside hotel”
Reviewed May 8, 2012

Excellent location with private beach. Helpful staff and first class restaurant. However, the beds are hard, pillows uncomfortable and parking is a long way from the hotel. Nevertheless an enjoyable stay.

The location of this hotel right on the beach is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Many have balconies over looking the sea which is lovely but sadly the beds were very hard and the air conditioning struggled. Unfortunately when booking in August or September it is not possible to book B & B only. Despite the hotels excellent reputation for seafood we had a poor dinners most evenings. The choice was very limited on the fixed menu for half pension guests with three choices for each course. If you didn't like the fish course which often did not stipulate what kind of fish it was you were either stuck with payard - a tough grilled piece of veal which you really would only order once, or forced to have the third option, which on one evening was two baked eggs covered in olive oil. On one occasion there was very good grilled lemon sole and another good seabass but these were highlights. It was very frustrating seeing excellent scampi or turbot and other seafod delicacies going out to the a la carte restaurant from which us half borders were segregated knowing we were not going to enjoy these tasty morsels ourselves unless we paid extra which many were loathed to do. What a great shame guests are restricted in this way. You go to Italy to indulge in the wonderful produce but alas at Hotel Miramare our gastronomic feasts were had outside the hotel not in it when we could no longer stand the limited menu.

The hotel is in a really good position, the service is perfect. But the best is the restaurant. It is rally rear to have such a good restaurant in the hotel. And this one is shurely within the best you can find in the maremma.

If you want to eat fresh fish with ocean view in Castiglione della Pescaia, this is THE place to be. You will find a great terrasse (accessible from the street and the beach) where you have a warm and welcoming service. The menu offers Italian cuisine with many delicious plates of fresh fish, seafood etc. Nevetheless, ask for the recommendation of the day to have the best dinner. The wine list also offers a wide range of possibilities. In summer time you can spend great evenings there on the terrasse...
Also in winter the restaurant in the inside is one of the nicest in Castiglione, same for the small bar with TV (for important sport events).
The hotel is simple, but every body is friendly and the familiy managing the hotel is really hospitable and welcoming
