“Best view in Cefalu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Our suite had two balconies overlooking the main piazza. Absolutely stunning views and right in the heart of Cefalu. We had a large lounge/kitchen area with satellite TV and wireless Internet. We bought breakfast from a patisserie in the square and ate it on the roof terrace. Undoubtedly the best views in Cefalu. The proprietor, Angelo, spoke great English and was an absolute gentleman. Although not a major destination in our guidebook, we found Cefalu to be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable towns on our tour of Sicily. Any town that looks good in the rain must be special.

Room Tip: Having a balcony overlooking the square is a real bonus (north side). The noise from the square was...

We really enjoyed the night spent in Cefalu, and loved staying at the Palazzo Maria right in the main square next to the Duomo. A great location with easy access to all the best stores and restaurants, and a short downhill walk to the sea.

The hosts speak perfect English and are very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious enough for 4 people, with a huge terrace and creative, colourful design. There were a lot of steps to climb, but one expects that when staying in a centuries-old building!

The only drawback of the hotel's location is that it is very difficult to reach by car. Parking is offsite, about a 15 minute walk away, near the sea. But once the car is parked, the city is very walkable!

the best location, but some things could be improved.
The problem with the parking is not exclusive of this hotel, but of the whole hotels in the old city.
In the hotel, there is no elevator, which is OK for young people...without babys, like us. Also the air conditioned was not working and the lights of the living room.
Despite this, it is a good place to go out also by night to have the dinner

Firstly, you cannot reach this hotel by car and we had to wheel our bags for 20 minutes from the car parking. We had no help whatsoever with the bags up the stairs when we arrived or downstairs when we left. We re in our sixties and I have an arthritic hip. I commented that I had difficulty walking. No reaction. The apartment we had called Joanna was painted acid bright orange throughout, (apparently traditional Sicilian decor - I wonder how they got hold of such a colour in days gone by?) The apartment also smelt stale and damp and we had to throw all the windows open. In short, the worst accommodation we had in Sicily.

We stayed here for d 1st week in August and got a room with a view of the square. The loveliness of the location lasted for the duration of 2 photos.....after this you come to the realisation that if it's a quiet relaxing holiday you were after you came to the wrong place. The fun starts at 7am in the square each morning and this can range from a strimmer gone nuts for about 2 hrs (there's no garden area in the square so this remains a mystery to me) or the friendly neighbourhood helicopter carting heavy items to the top of a mountain via the square for around 3 solid hours to a full on brass bands (our early morning wake up call today). Also, the bedroom doesn't have AC (it's in d sitting room) and its about 40 degrees out so u kind of have to leave the doors open... Not that they can block out the noise even when closed. Separate to the really fun noise issue the linens aren't changed all week.

The positives are- you're in the prettiest part of cefalu and it's a short walk to the beach. There's plenty of nice restaurants and ice cream shops close by and when you're ears have stopped ringing/ bleeding you can enjoy a coffee in the square

A very central location with great views over the main square. Very comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price.

We rented a square-view apartment here for 5 days and loved it. Francesco, Angelo and Stefano worked hard to ensure a smooth stay. Be aware that a room facing the piazza will mean a fair bit of noise, be it as in our case, speeches by political candidates, or festive music til late, from Thursday through Sunday. But thats OK, surely the raucous exhuberance was one of the reasons that you came to this popular beach-historical town. Eating an early morn breakfast with locals outside in that same square is so sympatico---try mandorla paste with yer croissant and cappucino! The view from the Palazzo Maria terrace was incontestably the best one we experienced during our month in Sicilia. The nearby Rocca hike is a must. Also ask the guys about the beaches in the flanking towns, such as Mazzoforno and Settefrati. Two insiders tips: a) consider a daytrip to Madonie Mountain Park's Petralia Soprano town (the real McKoy) b) buy some rare nespola (loqat) honey from Torrefazione Serio shop.
