“Nice Campsite (although on the large size) with great staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

Stayed at this campsite for our two-week summer holiday. Main views:

Good: Italian staff were excellent - all staff that we met were extremely friendly and helpful, could not be faulted
Bad: Not really a campsite for a family with older children, as we were, but it looked an excellent site for families with younger children. Nearby playgound had a basketball court but no one seemed to know it was there.
Good: The campsite restaurant provided excellent meals, although food would come as it was cooked (one evening my starter can after my main meal) but we ate there on several evenings as it was so good.
Bad: All facilities were at one end of the site and it was a bit of a walk to go from one end (where we were to shop / bar / pool etc
Good: Beach was surprisingly good and we spent much more time on the beach than we originally intended. Nice beach bar.
Bad: Eurocamp staff were clueless and could not answer even the most basic of questions about the site or how to get to Venice - however, the campsites Customer Care staff were able to answer all our questions.
Good: Great shop that provided for all our needs - and at reasonable prices.

There was also excellent links to Venice and the surrounding Islands. Some really good, basic restaurants in Ca Savio and slightly further afield. We hired a car but you don't really need one. You will notice not a mention of mosquitos. The site seemed to manage the problem really well and they weren't too much of a problem for us. Outside the campsite, this was not the case - and was a bit of annoyance.

the accommodation was villa grand deluxe 3 bedroom 2 bathroom with keycamp
the trip advisor reports i had read had stated how dirty there accommodation was on arrival . we found the accommodation very clean
the accommodation inside was lovely and spacious
the rep was helpful he later found us and extra fan which made the difference as it was very hot and humid at night
we flew out to marco polo on 20th aug and returned 31st aug
the shores of which we had 2 were spacious however we had a problem with the en suite shower as the sand from outside had clogged the outflow pipes and the water raN AWAY VERY SLOwly and by end of holiday had blocked completely but as this was our last day we just used the other shower and later when we left reported the shower problem
the accommodation at casavio did not have aircon and this i feel is a must as it was oh so humid when we stayed the sweat dripped off and technically we would have only had one fan had the nice rep not have found us another
you needed the fans in the bedrooms at night in order to sleep
we later acquired a 3rd faN WHICH WE WENT AND BOUGHT as we were 6 adults
the other gripe i had was that there was no decking on the deluxe accommodation
this meant that we trapsed in sand every time we went into the accommodation and we permanently had black sandy feet hence why i think the shopper blocked
later we acquired a large sheet of plastic which we laid down outside and the difference this simple sheet of plastic made was incredible
also the trees outside were pine trees so the sap dripped down it didn't drip onto us or our washing but sap traipsed into the accommodation from our foot wear so the floor was not only sandy n black but had sap marks which when we left were a pain to get off the floor i used a scourer as i didn't want to leave accommodation dirty for others
the kitchen was equipped for what we needed
the site was good
no noise issues we have never experienced noise issues here
the grown up children and there partners used the pools every day and were impressed with the pool areas
beware though as i found the tiles around the main pool very slippy i didn't actually slip but be careful
if you arrive on a satureday the reception can be very busy and we were warned thAT THERE can be a queue of 2 hours to check in then you then have to go to the keycap reception after the main reception check in.
we didn't have a long what as we arrived on a sunday. there was a locked room at main reception for which we left our luggage until the 3pm keycap check in
valuables you can leave these at cashiers office they don't charge for this service and the stuff is secure we have left our valuables here every time we have visited passports money bank cards
and its easy to retrieve things as you only need to give them your valuables list and the camping caRD THAT YOU REGISTEREED the valuables under and they give back what you need or have asked for
its a brilliant service and its free.
customer services near maIN RECEPTION ARE VERY HELPFUL AND IF YOU ARE GOING TO AQUALANDA THERE is a bus that picks you up just outside the campsite on a monday and wednesday the bus fair is 3 euros it leaves around 9.30 and leaVES AQUALANDA 6.15PM
AS A TRIPADVISOPR HAD POSTED YOU ASK CUSTOMER SERVICES FOR THE LITTLE PACK THAT has the details of the bus and in the pack is a card that gets you each 4 euros off entry fee
you pay 24 euros instead of 28 the 3 euro bus fair is paid on the aqualda bus when you get on it
the shop as trip advisors have see is adequately stocked but you can buyt cheaper up in the A and o supermarket up in town we used our suitcases as shopping bags to bring our first big shop back
alcohol is cheaper in the big supermarket

fruit and veg as trip advisors have posted there is a little stall just up the road from the camp site its next to the al fungetto restaurant

its local grown and fresh and the lady and gentleman that runs it aRE FREINDLY and lovely
the wine there is fantastic a litre is 1.80 euro 30 cents for a bottle if you don't have one its a plastic screw top bottle if you had 2 litres then they haVE EMPTY COKE BOTTLES WHICH THEY HAVE WASHED AND THESE BOTTLES ARE FREE BUT WE TRIED ALL THE WINES AND THEY WERE LOVLEY the fruit n veg are cheaper here than the on site shop
the fruit shop opens mornings then closes for a few hours then reopens i think at 4pm
the camp supermarket didn't close for the siesta they stayed open till 10.30 pm
we bought pizzas from the A and o supermarket they had a deal on 3 pizzas for just under 5 euros and they were pizzas that only needed about 10 mins or less in oven and they were fab nice thin base and we were a party of 6 adults so we had half a pizza each n sale from the nearby fruit seller
so we ate cheaply

transfer from the marco polo airport couldn't have been easier nor cheaper
i followed what a trip advisor had reported we got the bus you buy the tickets at the airport counter its well signposted we got a bus to lido di jesolo bus station it cost 3.50 euro plus you have to buy a ticket for luggage we paid 1.90 euro and that does 2 suitcases the bus stop is just outside the arrivals area and again its signposted and its clear where the stop is as its signposted the journey took us 30 mins from the airport

we arrived at lido di jesolo bus station there is huge screen with times and info where the bus stand is for punta sabbioni you have to buy a ticket at the bus staTION for the journey to casavio it was 1.60 euro each you didn't have to buy a ticket for luggage
this part of journey took 35 mins and just tell the bus driver you need camping casavio and he will put you down at stop. the campsite is a walk down the road from crossroads where the bus drops you off
there is a fish mongers shop neaR the corner
you go down that road which is a main shop street you will pass a school on your left and a small funfair on your right carry on straight down past the al fungertto restaurant and the market ingress thats the fruit n veg stall carry on down and almost at bottom entrance to campsite is on left
honestly the bus journey couldn't have been easier and it was cheap less than 30 euros for 6 adults and 6 suitcases from airport to lido di jesolo then 1.60 euro each from there to casavio

venice the cheapest was is by a new service from punta sabbioni its marco polo boats its 9 euro return i.e single is 4.50 euro they drop off only ion venice in the mornings and return in afternoons they have vARYING TIMES you can get boats they are REGULAR they are next to maIN FERRY STOP . FERRYS TO VENICE ARE 14 EURO RETURN SO YOU SAVE 5 EURO EACH

I have to start by saying this rating is more about our accommodation than the site. The site is a 3 star site, and there are better 4 star in the area (Union Lido & Marina de Venezia) for a similar price - but the site was ok (mozzies are the same all over the area) It's a very busy site I would advise you try to book a pitch away from the main road as the traffic is like being on the M25 from 7am to 11:30pm. The entertainment was ok, but the area by the stage was small for such a large site, there were no tables by the stage, few chairs and it was a dirt floor so it wasn't an option to sit on the floor. The site was clean and they did spray the mozzies once a week. The site staff were helpful and the beach was good - try the beach bar for a beer and snack, the guy behind the bar is better entertainment than the stage. The supermarket was reasonable for one on a site, good selection and reasonable prices. The pools were lovely, we tended to have a couple of hours on the beach and then have a rest and head for the pool - only issue is they close at 7. We had our car with us, and you really do need transport if you want to get anywhere. The ferry to Venice is 20 euro for a day pass which allows you to visit the islands and use the water buses, we paid 140 euro only to watch the Germans using one ticket for families of 5,6,etc they were passing the ticket across the barrier and reusing it - no one checks the tickets but I'd sooner not take the chance. If you haven't been to Vencie before get a map this will ensure you see everything rather than spending hours wandering around beautiful old streets getting nowhere. We had a meal with a couple of beers in a little restaurant down one of the side streets, 111euro for 7 - excellent value and delicious food. Now for the accommodation, we stayed with Keycamp having stayed with them on sites in Spain and France previously we believed the accommodation would be the same standard everywhere - wrong. The caravan was clean - that was the only good thing, the shower tray was cracked meaning we couldn't use it, the curtains were hanging off, the pation table was stained and had burn marks, there was a smell of damp (probably due to the cracked shower tray causing the water to rot the wooden supports under the shower) the exterior light was hanging off and the fridge socket was hanging off. We approached the reps and asked was a move possible to be advised the only other van they had available had a damp problem and was considered worse than the one we were in, they also advised all the other local sites were full. I have complained to Keycamp and they have assured me they are looking into this. We had to use the site shower facilities (which are excellent), not ideal when you've paid the extra for a caravan. The reps were young and although helpful enough when asked to do something specific seemed to have very little time for their guests - on other sites we've visited the reps have always made a point of calling past and having a quick chat to check you're ok. Overall we had a good holiday and I would return to the region but not to this site and not with Keycamp

We had a marvelous Ca, Savio holiday with Eurocamp 3 generations, 8 of us in 2 mobile homes. The owners strived hard to keep the venue clean and tidy, the pools were spotless with attentive life guards. The shop was well stocked with fresh bread baked on site and you can take your own container for loose wine. It was near the beach and town. The beach is sandy with a shallow sea for the kids to paddle in. There was a high standard of behaviour on the site with now rowdy behaviour.
Most of the staff were polite and helpfull with the exception of one incident. On Saturday 25th August (firework night) we went into the restaurant with a jug of wine and assorted drinks we had purchased in the cafe (next door same building same bar same wine). A shaven headed man, presumable the manager rudely too the tray from my hands saying we could have back it when we left. Afterwards it had "dissapeared" but luckily another man (lightly bearded) replaced then free of charge and saved the day.
Just a small blot on otherwise a good holiday.

Me, my wife and children (6, 15, 17) stayed here at the end of August 2012, staying with Venue holidays. I did not expect a 5 star hotel, however we probably got the caravan which had the worst position! It was squashed into a corner between the eurocamp caravans, we had no outdoor space other than our decking. Furthermore, our decking was about 2 foot away from another caravans toilet window, which I'm sure was as off-putting for them as it was for us when we were eating our evening meal!! Also the cleanliness of the caravan, it appeared to be clean, however under the beds, cupboards etc it was filthy. A sharp contrast with the venue caravan we stayed in last year in France which was spotless! A positive of the Venue caravans was that they had air con which is a MUST!

The site is more for 'real' camping; there are no tarmac roads except for the main one, the pitches aren't arranged, just plopped wherever to fit between trees. Again, this is a contrast to France, which had pitches sectioned with plants and proper roads! I did not let this put me off though, as it gave more of a feel of really being outdoors.

The facilities at Ca Savio were ok. The pool was big, however it was a bit dated. It has lots of different sections which was great for our yougest child (especially the pirate ship) however they tended to be very busy with little room to swim! Of course this is to be expected of a campsite this size though! The only time the pool wasn't that busy was when it was cloudy. Also, no sunbeds around the pool, not really a problem as most days we went to the beach anyway.

The entertainment area was a bit naff, not in a nice position and again dated, with nowhere near enough chairs/tables for everyone watching. Instead, we usually went to the 'english pub' which was a nice area to sit out and relax, as our youngest child enjoyed playing in the fortress, which was brilliant for children! Happy hour was good, between 7 - 9!

The supermarket on site was quite expensive; it was a lot cheaper to walk into Ca Savio and use one of the supermarkets there. My wife enjoyed the cheap prosecco. We tried to take most of the essentials with us in our suitcases.

We ate at the site restaurant one night, the food was nice and service quick and we had a nice table overlooking the gardens, however we preferred the restuarant Villa Gentile in Ca Savio, and ended up eating there 3 times. The food was lovely and staff were pleasant. Would definitely reccomend it! Another bonus was that Villa Gentile showed premier league matches (we didn't want to miss the champions and their first game! :) ) There is another restaurant in Ca Savio, Al Funghetto, this is supposed to be nice however we did not try it. The rest of Ca Savio was quite small however it was a nice place to walk to in the evening, especially on a thursday when the market is on. Also, there is an amazing ice cream bar on the left as you walk towards Ca Savio. The flavours were delicious (mango, chocolate mousse and meringue), and that is saying something seeing as I don't normally like ice cream at home! Now I miss it!!

We did not hire a car for this holiday, it was not neccessary as the buses routes were good, with the bus stop being a 20 minute walk from the campsite. Staff at the information office were helpful, told you where to go as you got the tickets from them rather than on the bus. We got the bus to Aqualandia and it dropped us right outside. It was worth a visit, only downside was the queues were big but then this is to be expected!

One of the best things about Ca Savio is its location and how near it is to Venice! We got the bus to Punta Sabbioni and then a short ferry. Again we purchased tickets for this from the information office. In Venice we mainly wandered around, however we did go on a gondola. Pricey at 80 euros however was well worth it cruising up the grand canal! I was expecting Venice to be very dear but overall it wasn't too bad if you wanted a meal/snack/ice cream/drink etc (as long as you stay well away from St. Marks Square!!)

The beach was lovely, kept very clean. Ideal for young children with very shallow, warm water. You can hire pedaloes for 10 euros an hour, which we did twice. Also there was an ice cream seller who was very pleasant. There were a few beach sellers who walked up and down however they were nice and once you said no they did not bother you. You can also get a bargain from them; my daughter got a big beach towel for 10 euros.

I do not really understand people warning about the mosquitoes, my wife normally gets bitten to death, however after coming prepared we were fine. We used mosquito spray with 50% deet, a plug in repellant, citronella candles and citronella incense sticks. My wife and I were only bitten twice in 2 weeks. The mosquitoes definitely didn't ruin our holiday!

I may have sounded harsh on the campsite, but we really did have a great holiday. The beach compensates for the facilities of the campsite and the location and access to Venice was perfect. For the price we paid we had a very enjoyable holiday.

ps. My son and I chose to wear swim shorts, we were the minority, most people chose to wear lycra shorts or speedos! (Make sure you purchase your lycra!!)

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

Myself, my partner and 3 children (age 6, 13, 15) went to Ca Savio for ten nights in August 2012. We went with Eurocamp and stayed in a 3 bed challet.
I found reading the reviews really useful so hense am now writing one myself.
A few of the reviews did leave me a little anxious about the moisquitos and lack of air conditioning - I had NOTHING to worry about...
I usually get bitten alive by moisquittos but we went prepared - used a spray in the evenings and used one plug in - easy. I got 2 bites and so did my partner (but it was the night we forgot to spray!) The kids got no bites!
No air con - we booked it knowing this. Yes it was hot - but that's why we chose Italy! We had one fan and with the windows and doors open, it was fine. There is so much shade it in the parc it does help keep the challet cooler. After two days we had all adjusted to the hot temperature.
One piece of advise I did get from the reviews was about lilos. There are no sun loungers around the pools. Personally I loved the lack of sun lounge war! Last year in France we only managed to get loungers on 2 days anyway! We took 5 lilos with us (bought them for £2 each). We used them everyday and they were great.
The pools were lovely. I liked how all 8 ranged in depth. Two of the pools were huge and the kids pools had slides which we weren't expecting. The pools stayed open from 10am to 7pm and were closed for 3 hours once a week for cleaning. We prefered the smaller pool complex at Strada 13
Accomodation - very clean, smaller than our last holiday but had everything we needed. Good size fridge! Personally I wouldn't be without decking.
Kids camp - AMAZING - probably one of the highlights of the holiday. We used Leo's (almost every day) and base. The club leaders and thoughtful activities were great!
Parc facilities - the park is HUGE, at first daunting but it really is perfect. The parc has everything (even a doctor every morning, which we had to use)
Beach - 5 mins, warm shallow calm water - beautiful
Town - A little further than we hoped (a 20 min hot walk) - small but all you need. The parc is so big you don't need to leave!
Entertainment / activities - Again LOADS on offer - something for everyone and all free. Popular choices for our familiy was: aqua aerobics, water sports, zumba, kids disco
Food and drink - overall I thought good value for money. Super market is great. Loved the refill wine scheme for 2 euros. Loads of places to eat over the parc. Pizza 5 euros, ice cream 1 euro. Some resturants in the town too. We ended up eating out every night but one!
Day trips - must do Venice and easy to get to - hot but worth it! We planned to go to Aqualandi but the kids wanted to stay at the parc!
Transport to parc - We flew, and then took 2 different buses. The buses were cheap, air conditioned and easy to find. The problem was the first bus from the airport was full and we had to wait an hour for the next bus. We didn't want to risk full buses on our way back to the airport so took a taxi (100 euros) and was very pleasant!
Negatives - not many at all.
The main road through the parc is dangerous - 2 way traffic, walkers, kids on bikes/scooters - there must be accidents. I wish they had a pavement!
Very few lights at night - bring a torch and you'll be fine
Be fab if wifi was free!

We all had a wonderful holiday - would go back to Ca Savio and will certainly reccommend to other familys.

My wife and children came here for 8 days at the end of July, with a family friend who joined them for a shorter period of time. It was her 3rd time in a row at the site so obviously a good choice! Rave reports from all who went, facilities, site staff, pool, beach all rated highly.
Mossies are normally a problem for us as a family but they seemed to have left well alone this year, despite what others on here have said - and yes there are signs and announcements about spraying etc.... surely when travelling you research these things and be prepared, don't you?
Cheap but nice wine was a bonus ( bottle brought back to UK verified this!) and on site prices versus supermarket... Well, you shop around!
Only 2 downers to the stay were.... A) an issue with Eurocamp couriers (resolved) and B) coming home!

Thank you Ca Savio, on behalf of my family, for a lovely stay!
