Booked here as part of a self-directed cycling tour. Nice bed with good pillows. Free wireless internet (get a password at the front desk). Reasonable breakfast- make sure you ask for your cappuccino; they have coffee and warm milk out on the buffet. Baked goods better than average. The front desk couldn't have been more helpful- booking taxi's for us and helping with sorting through travel options when we were leaving.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2006 for 6 nights. In the posted reviews I haven't seen mention of the "dependance", so thought this might be a useful addition. We wanted to stay in the hotel but when we booked it was full so they offered us the apartment next door to the hotel. This is called "the dependance" (no idea why). Anyway the apartment is about half the price of a regular room (about 85 euros per night). It is quite spacious with living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Also a small outdoor balcony that looks over the rear of the hotel with a spectacular view. Bed is comfortable but the rest of the furniture is fairly cheap and utilitarian. There is a sofa bed for extra guests that doubles as a sofa for watching the TV. It is like sitting on rocks! But if you don't watch much TV it's not a terrible thing. We ended up sitting on cushions and pillows when we used the sofa!
We were able to use all the facilities of the hotel and for me the availablility of free wireless internet was great. We were able to use our laptop on the balcony outside the apartment..great! But new terrorist laws in Italy make internet use somewhat cumbersome and bureaucratic.
We used the kitchen a couple of times for making dinners and several times for tea, so it was quite useful.
Breakfast in the hotel is very good provided you get there early before the good stuff is taken. The replenishment service is a bit slow and the tea/coffee is fair. Front desk staff are very helpful with excellent english (or Irish as the case may be).
Parking is behind the hotel and access in and out is best negotiated with a small car and a prayer!
Castellina (as other reviews say) is a lovely town with access to many other beautiful Tuscan towns just a few kilometers away. Several really good restaurants within walking distance.
One restaurant recommendation: Le Vigne just outside Radda: Spectacular food in a typical relaxed Tuscan outdoor setting.
So in summary, the "dependance" is a really good value if you don't mind a little less luxury than the hotel itself.

We had a fantastic time at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms clean and stylish and the hotel has bright and tidy common areas, including a lovely sitting room. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak fine English. The breakfasts were great, more than enough and with a good variety. Overall, good value for money.

The town is nice, with some lovely restaurants and in the middle of some of the most pleasing scenery in Europe.

One night stay in this hotel recently- it is fabulous. Just what you imagine a tuscan boutique hotel to be. Stylish/traditional interior, good breakfast, central location, great value for money considering other prices in the area, nice pool with wonderful views over the vineyards. I had a medical emergency and the staff were absolutely excellent. If in Tuscany again I will go back for sure.

Just what you would hope for when staying in Tuscany, charming, with amenities. We stayed in superior room with a wonderful expansive view of the surrounding countryside. lovely and qiuet, comfortable firm bed, (although rather noisy airconditioning) . Hotel very convenient , centrally located within quaint villiage and local restaurants, the hotel staff recommended a Michelin star restaurant just behind the hotel which was also wonderful. Breakfast was simple but reasonable.
