“Might skip this one next time there”
Reviewed October 3, 2013 via mobile

This wine bar serves food but on our visit there we weren't impressed by it. We both had pasta dishes but they didn't taste like the 'homemade' pasta available in most of the other restaurants in the town. The staff were good but we felt that maybe it's strength is in wine service rather than food.

“mediocre”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We ended up here as they are next door to a good pizza place, which was full. Overall the food is not so bad, but there are much better options in town. As noted by an other reviewer, the wild boar pasta is mainly pasta, with a very limited amount of meat. The taste was not bad though. Overall the prices are high for what you get.

“Worst food ever!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We visited this restaurant for lunch today. What a terrible mistake!! The only positive thing was that the waiter was somewhat cheerful and efficient.

For starter we ordred bruschetta pomodoro. It was totally tastless. The tagliatelle with wild-boar stew was almost completely without the wild-boar stew. And, of course, totally tastless.

The restaurant is a total disaster - stay away. Now you are warned.

“A fun place for people-watching”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The food is average as is the selection, but this is not meant to be gourmet food. Sitting out on the pedestrian street is all the entertainment you need to enjoy the experience. We had tasty crostini, acceptable crepes, reasonably priced.

“A welcoming place for a drink at reasonable prices, and as a place to people-watch”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Vincenzio runs a great and popular bar. Despite the small size of the kitchen they also produce some great snacks and meals which are well prepared and reasonable priced.
Il Cantuccio cafeteria and wine-bar is in the central part of the predominantly pedestrianised street within the town and is a great place for a drink or a coffee, or for a snack or even a more substantial meal. They serve a great range of beers, wines and spirits and the place is clearly popular with locals and tourists. We have used this bar for many years when visiting Tuscany. We love Castellina-in-Chianti and have used many of the restaurants, bars and shops in the town, but we always get great service with a welcoming smile from Vincenzio.
We would definitely recommend Il Cantuccio and will be back soon.
