“Great food in a lovely setting”
Reviewed August 28, 2012 via mobile

We had a really good lunch here eg starter of aubergine, porcini mushrooms and truffle shavings followed by beautifully cooked venison fillet. The restaurant has a shady terrace with pretty views over Tuscan hills. Service was good. Highly recommended.

“Outstanding Food”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

We came upon this fabulously located restaurant in the Tuscan hills. Beautiful location, scrumptious food made with local produce and great service. Of all the restaurants we visited, this was the best.

“Great Food and great view”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

This, like so many of the authentic restaurants in Italy are wonderful. They know what they do and gives great recommendation.
view is amazing with the rolling vineyards next to restaurant.

I had the porcini crepe with creme and it was delicious while my boyfriend had a fresh pasta with wild boar Ragu. It was good service and they recommended us to some Mazzei, one of the leading vineyard for tasting.
We went for a late lunch so there was plenty to sit and a really pretty restaurant.

There is a wine shop behind the restaurant but it was close when we visited but worth to walk and check it out.

Highly recommended.

“Off The Beaten Track - But Worth A Look!”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

Not easy to get to if you don't have a car but worth the trip if you do. About 10 minutes outside Castellina, the Osteria Alla Piazza is set on a bend in a country lane with a large dining garden and lots of spaces inside too. Good menu with lots of regional dishes and an extensive wine list. Staff speak quite good English but one or two look a bit "sniffy" as if they think a Michelin star is in the offing - it's not! Good food well cooked is the hallmark of Tuscan cuisine and that should be reward enough for a small local restaurant - and it should satisfy the staff here because they do it very well! Waited nearly 30 minutes for our dessert and got to the point of complaining when the waiter smoothed over the glitch with a winning smile and a story of the local 90 year-old olive grower who thinks that 50-something olive pickers are "old people"! Charming end to a meal - and a 10% discount for the delayed service too!!
