One of the best dinner we have had in Italy after a road trip of 10 days
Traditional dinner and maybe we were the only tourists in the restaurant
Try fillet and of course pizza

“Superb Neapolitan dining in an authentic setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

How to find the superlatives for C'e' Posto Per Te? Surely one of the best meals I've ever eaten in Italy, scoring tops both on the cuisine as well as the value for EUR equation. And where, you might ask, is this paragon of traditional Italian dining found? Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Gulf of Naples? On a lovely 18th-centry boulevard? No, not at all. You gotta have balls to find this place but you will dine very well indeed and at local pricing.

if you are reading this, you perhaps already familiar with Castellamare di Stabia and its peculiar shortcomings as a tourist destination. Squalor is the word that springs to mind: a crazy hodgepodge of overbuilt narrow streets and alleyways, dirty, congested, noisy. An insanely perilous place to drive, lacking any identifiable central area, navigating around here is like beingthrust into a demented video game: "Stake Your Life". But, if you can manage to get your GPS to locate this place (more on this to follow) you will be well-rewarded indeed. Do not be put off by the seemingly impossible streetscape of drab soviet-style apartment blocks on which this epicurean delight is located, as far as I can tell it'd the only business on the street. But perserve! C'e' Posto Per Te has (miracle!) a capacious parking lot, an amenity almost unheard of in Castellamare.

Once inside everything changes, you will forget the squalid world outside. This is the real Italian fine dining at its best, no fusion, top-tier ingredients, impeccable preparation, generous almost, gargantuan portions and genial service. Although there are many Trip Adviser reviews posted, this place remains basically "undiscovered", catering to a local and demanding clientele. During our visit we saw no other tourist diners, English is not spoken and menu items are generally not translated. But fear not, you will be superbly fed and everyone will make an effort to serve you in fine Italian family style.

So what did we eat? A superb local mozzarella (actually a Flort di Latte) served with "crudo" (meaning prosciutto) at (if I remember) at a grand total of 6 EUR. An antipasto items of three grilled vegetables which have permanently raised the bar for grilled veggies as far as I am concerned, just the very best possible treatment of a dish of classic simplicity. Did I mention the bread? Spectacular traditional Neapolitan bread, crusty, baked to perfection, the bread that nourished Caesar's legions!

Assuming from the very modest prices that the dishes would be small, we ordered "Primi" (pasta courses). These were brought forth and easily would have served as an entire and generous meal. We had rigatoni Sicilian style, which was a superb rigatoni in cream of mushroom sauce, that is if Escoffier made "Cream of Mushroom". Wonderful, the rigatoni perfectly al dente and the mushroom based sauce to die for. Our other pasta course involved paccheri with frutti di mare and by this I don't mean the usual handful of under-sized and possibly frozen assorted shellfish, I mean an immense assortment of red gamberini and vongole with cherry tomatoes and a wonderful mild red sauce.

By the time our "main":courses arrived we were stuffed. But who could resist the perfection of the giant platter of red gamberi or the tasty beefsteak "nationale" we had ordered far too ambitiously. I will post a photo of the gamberi to let you know how spectacular the offerings are.

Foodies, there are no coulis on hand, no speckled on the platters, no oddball menu items requiring a recitation of every ingredient and its source, just impeccably sourced, cooked and priced dinners. If you must have speckles, day-boat scallops and raw duck breast, this isn't for you. If you want a real exposure to the best of Campanian home-style cooking, eat here.

So how do you find this place on GPS? The trick is that the Via Venezia makes a 90-degree turn and changes its name halfway don the block to become the Traversa Cantieri Metallurgici italiani. This street name is apparently misidentified both on some GPS devices and on Google maps, if not elsewhere. if you look at the maps and see the Via Venezia as it parallels the shoreline, you will find C'e' Posto Per Te about midway down the length of the street.

Don't come much before 8:00, the help doesn't really arrive until at least 7:30. By the way, the house wine is sound and inexpensive but there is a very large wine list for the enthusiast. So if you find yourself in Castellamare, do not hesitate to seek this place out.

“Very nice restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

We ate here twice during our visit. We had pastas the first time and steak the second and all were very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is in an out of the way location so be sure the driver knows the way if you take a cab.

“Where the locals eat...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2013 via mobile

This is definitely a locals restaurant. We arrived around 8.30pm on a Friday evening and it wasn't very busy. Then a large birthday party arrived and the place started to buzz. I get the feeling that this is where the locals eat as we were the only tourists. The restaurant has a feel of a church hall about it but don't be put off as the food is great, the service fast and friendly and the bill will be less than you anticipated! We went for the steaks and they were huge - too much for me but very tasty. They also do great pizzas at very reasonable prices. Good value wines and beers. A fun night out and somewhere we would definitely go back to despite it being out of town. We were staying at the marina and they even ran us back to our boat!
