“A lovely week!”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

I've just returned from The Hotel Europa in Castellammare di Stabia.

My family and I enjoyed our stay immensely; our very first impression helped immensely by the very warm welcome we received from the lovely Francesco and his family.

The room was big, cosy and warm. Breakfast was croissants and a lovely tart with coffee - yum!

Castellammare di Stabia itself is vibrant even in February, which, incidentally was very warm! Nice, if you come from England.

It's a great base for exploring Pompeii, Vesuvius, the Amalfi Coast and more.

Dear my valid guest,

Greetings (to all the splendid family..)from the beautiful (with the Terme and Stabiae rest as Villa Arianna Villa San Marco)..and vibrant Stabiae…!

...Stabie..Castellammare di Stabiae...it is really “a goal..for our guest”….because really it is a simple and great base…for exploring our area…Archeology Stabiae..and Ercolano, Vesuvio, Paestum, Salerno, Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello, Capri…

…and more without stress using our shuttle service to the center/train station and reach that important place in short time…and chip way…(no stress, no smog = only relax = with correct rate)…

Dear my special guest in February..it is nice to stay at Hotel Europa…as well in spring and summer…using our pool…our partner beach (umbrella and sun beds inclusive..) or our park to walk or running to stay in shape…..or using our tennis court…. or to order an excursion by our yacht to reach Capri or a wine tour or Amalfi tour with our driver...or a simple relaxing massage....

I would like to thank you..first.. for choosing to spend your “lovely week” at The Hotel Europa and secondly, taking the time..your special time to share such wonderful feedback following your stay….on the web…on TRIPADVISOR…..GRAZIE..

I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the Hotel Europa 3 star sup..., including the area, the big and cosy room and the quality of the breakfast and coffee.

It is always rewarding for me to be able to share positive comments with the team regarding the services offered and I was pleased to do so once again after receiving your kind review....

It is our sincere desire to provide memorable experiences to our valued guests and we were delighted to afford you with some experiences to cherish.

It really was a pleasure to meet your Family and yours children and I look forward to a future opportunity of welcoming you back to enjoy more of our Italian hospitality …again my famous hospitality...(Francesco always at your disposal…my warm welcome it is famous….AS WEEL IN MY PREVIUS JOB…LIKE HOTEL MANAGER 4/5 STAR..).but I say to all: WHY NOT..?

With best wishes from Stabiae..

Francesco Donnarumma / Owner

and staff of Hotel Europa 3 star sup.

The first night we arrived we had to stay in another hotel just up the road becuause the had a problem ? We went back the next day it was clean the staff did not speak much English which was not really a problem. We went out for a day no beds made when we came back the morning we left there was no hot water at all. The area is a lot to be desired it was like a war zone with a empty building along the drive way. Castellammare Di Stabia was busstling at night but no where to get a drink, train travel was cheap but had to get a taxi to the station, bus travel was free in certain area. We went all the way to Pompeii free which was excellent, train travel was inexpensive as well. The hotel I know we went on KGB deal but it was not any good if you wanted it to use as a base for your holiday it is too far away from the transport such as a train there was busses at the end of the drive but no time table to when they were available. The walk back to the hotel was up a very steep not very well lit hill which me and my daughter would not have tempeted. There is nothing in the vacinity of the hotel to look at or even have a drink. The staff were not that friendly and we felt we were being a nuisance for asking so many questions in English and a bit of Italian that we picked up. Spoke to a couple who said they stayed in Naples at a budget hotel and it sounded better than ours Sorry could not recommend this hotel for a stay in Italy.

I visited the hotel with my partner through a KGB deal so the value was great.

In terms of Naples Bay the hotel is in a quite good location, with Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento and Naples itself all easily accessible via the local trains. The complex itself is very nice, with a swimming pool, restaurant, bar and it was all in good shape. However, the area around the hotel definitely isn't the nicest - Castellamere Di Stabia didn't have a massive amount going on, and a hunt for a restaurant in the area for dinner on the first evening ended with a fair walk almost taking us to Pompeii. But if you're in the area, there's plenty easy enough to get to via a couple of stops on the train.

The food at the restaurant itself isn't half bad, there was a large group staying as well, but didn't impact on our service at all. The waiting staff were very nice and accommodating with allergies which is always a worry with my partner when travelling anywhere.

The train station is about a 10 minute walk away (at a fastish pace), and as I said before has great transport links. There's also a cable car there, but no idea where it goes as we didn't take it!

All in all, was great for visiting Pompeii and the surrounding area, but couldn't say I'd recommend Castelamere Di Stabia to anyone else... If you have the opportunity to go I wouldn't actively avoid the hotel, but there may be nicer areas elsewhere.

My wife & I (mature couple) booked this Hotel through a KGB Deal - It was excellent value.
Nestled in the mountains and walking distance to the Thermal Spa (Therme Di Stabia)
The Hotel Europa is situated about 15 minutes (walking) outside the main Town of Castelamarra Di Stabia.
From the Hotel - it is all downhill, so returning is all UP HILL.
The Town is very poor for Restaurants, but the meal we had at the Hotel was adequate - if not inspiring.
The local train station / funicular, is easy to access near the bandstand.Travel costs were inexpensive compared to the UK, and we travelled by train to Naples, Sorrento + Pompei .
From Naples Airport, the Curreri Coach (www.curreri.com) stops outside the Hotel & Spa, so it is very convenient.
