Having visited this restaurant on our second night in Castelleto, we were so taken with this beautiful restaurant that we returned twice more to eat before we left to return home to England. The view from the restaurant was fabulous and the ambience was welcoming and friendly. Luca and his staff of waiters and waitresses were helpful, courteous and accommodating. Although predominantly a fish restaurant, which my mother does not eat, they were happy to adjust the menu to help her. Although they spoke quite good English, on our initial visit we had a couple of mistakes with our order, due to mis communication. However, this was put right immediately with no fuss. The food was superb, as was the service and I cannot rate the whole experience highly enough. Should I return to Lake Garda again I will most certainly be paying them a visit for dinner. Though not a cheap meal, it was worth every penny. Having read a few of the negative reviews on here, I think they must have been eating somewhere else, as in our three dinner and one coffee visit, we saw nothing but good service and happy customers. On our final visit we were sent off with kisses from the staff and nothing but good memories.

Really delicious food and at a decent price but foremost, this restaurant is a place where you will feel taken care of. The staff is very attentive, happy and kind and you can tell by the ambiance that this restaurant is well managed. We had the mussles for starters which were superb. We sat at one of the outdoor tables by the water. The sunset over the mountains on the west side of garda lake completed a perfect night. After three weeks in Italy, this was the best place so far.

I ate at Umberto during the last week of August. My friends and I would to eat fish, and we looked for internet to find a good restaurant.
Well, my dear readers this is all but a good restaurant!!!
Castelletto is a small beautiful town, the location was nice. But the list of goodthings ends here.
The food is nothing special at all: I really doubt the most of the fish is fresh at all but for sure it tastes nothing. Just the starters were good (some of them if truth be told).
But the mains with the lobster were just a waste of money (btw not the REAL lobster, but what they call "astice", so not "aragosta").
Speaking of money I do know how we could spend so much, eating so little (and drinking only the "bianco della casa").

Desserts not classified at all.

Final suggestion: if you want to waste money, buy lottery tickets (maybe you are lucky and can win something).

We stopped by to have a meal at this restaurant because it looked nice. It didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The pasta was delicious and the price was cheap compared with Verona! very goo all round.

On Friday night I decided to go to dinner with 3 friends of mine on the Garda lake, in Castelletto.

This is what happened...

The location is beautiful and inviting. The staff, in the beginning, was helpful and polite BUT condescending and after a while we realised that their 'good manners' were just a way to try to sell us more expensive food.
Regarding the food: the fish was edible but for sure nothing special. Even the lobster, which they pretended to offer us, tasted like nothing.
Upon our stating that one of our group had food allergies (tomato), the staff assured us that they would make sure to accommodate us for the appetisers (which we shared). What this ended up meaning is that we were brought out our appetiser on divided plates (both of which had tomatoes) and then charged double, which was an astounding 36Euro!!!

For the main dish we ordered 2 portions of mixed grilled fish (which on the menu cost 25Euro each), SPECIFYING to the waiter that we were not hungry enough to eat one each, only to have him bring us FOUR plates of fish, one which we returned saying that it was too much.
Upon finishing our meal we received the bill and what it had written upon it was more than insulting.
The bill was 275Euro! WHY??
The wine we ordered was billed 10Euro higher than the listing price.
The appetisers we ordered were charged TWICE.
The main dishes were billed at 42Euro each when we had ordered two at 25Euro and then returned one of the 4 (which we never ate or even taken with us)

When we called the waiter over to explain he started to make excuses one of which was that they had added lobster to the main course (without our consent) and so the price was higher.
We then received a new bill that was a total of 20Euro less.

We called the owner over to talk about the deceitfulness of the waiter.
Upon being summoned, the owner flew out of the restaurant in a rage ready to insult and threaten without even knowing what the problem was.
And when we tried to calm him down and explain our point of view, he...

I think no more words are needed.
