“Well presented food in a comfortable setting”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

A comfortable resturant located in a cellar basement. The food was very nicely presented, though the portions were not especially generous after a serious day's skiing.

“Definitely not a value for money”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Being a company of four we decided to have the last vacation dinner in a nice place like Al filo. The atmosphere was pleasant, the service was very nice. We took two appitizers to share, the main course and desserts. To our huge and unpleasant surprise we found a hair in one of the appitizers (salmon mascarpone). We pointed it out to the waiter, who immediately took it to the kitchen asking millions of excuses. But the new plate was brought olready after the main course (which was a very tasty risotto) we obviosly were rather full and asked not to bring the appitizer anymore, but the waiter insisted (I guess wanted to correct the bad impression). We decided to try the desserts. Which didn't impress us at all. "Tastless" would be the right description to each one's dish. The bill included the appitizer we found a hair in and tryed to refuse from. The impression we received absolutelly didn't worth 100 euros paid.

“Yummy at last”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

After desperately searching for a restaurant in Bormio that serves their food in cozier atmosphere than ski slope cafes, we finally ended up in this cute little place. Food was good, the wine selection perfect and the service very pleasant. A good place to escape the depressing nights of Bormio.

Food: my wife and I took a soup of the day that happened to be barley soup. Good but nothing extraordinary. Venison tartar only looked good but the meat was awful, i was not able to chew it. Lamb was just ok, as well as trout.
Service: we came around 7-30, when only 3 tables were occupied. Nevetheless, we had to wait at least 15 minutes before waiter came and took the order. Secondly, when I said that tartar was not ok, waiter took it away almost untouched but didn't forget to include it in the bill. I also asked for a tea that waiter forgot to bring but didn't forget to add to the bill as well. Not to mention that noone can speak English good enough to understand what you really want. Except probably the girl from the kitchen, who translated what I just written here to the manager. PS. I would not recommend red house wine. As to atmosphere, the restaurant was full of Russians. I think that will allow the place not to care about its image for a good while.

“Brilliant food, great atmosphere.”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

We visited this restaurant on the advice of the hotel receptionist. We thought that it may be typical small town fare but were really surprised , firstly with the menu choices and then with the high quality of food presented. Every course was great, the wine list was excellent and the advice from the waitress was good.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful and honest with their advice on choices.
The restaurant is unusual in decor , kind of like being in a cave but the lighting means that the ambiance is intimate and conducive to a good meal. My husband does not really do deserts but asked for seconds of the rice dish he ordered.
We would recommend this restaurant for food quality , service and value for money.
Max the chef should really go to London and earn a fortune .......
