I think tripadvisor does not want me to review this hotel, l requested TripAdvisor to included this hotel last year but it wasn't , so 12 months on I typed a long review and TA would not let me log on to post it, undeterred 12 months after I stayed there....

The main advantage of this hotel is its location right on the slop and the views from the rooms are picture postcard views, but once the cable car stops at 5 O'clock you are stuck at the hotel unless you have a car or you pay for a taxi; a taxi cost €20 down to the town and €35 up to the hotel. Every Thursday the cable car runs late (to 10pm I seem to recall) but when we were there it stopped at the usual time and no one pre warned use. I think the owners of the hotel should put on a mini bus service for the guests. For non skiers there was no discount for the cable car to go into town.

Rooms: We got a nice room, recently refurbished and fairly spacious. It had two single beds and a bunk bed that had no guard rail for the upper bunk. There was no kettle and the TV got no English channels. WIFI was available at a cost. Other rooms in the hotel varied in size and 50% of the rooms were not modernized and were a bit dated and cramped. In my view it is worth paying the little bit extra and getting the modernized rooms. Very clean, cleaned daily apart for Sunday.

Food: Breakfast was nothing to rave about, choice of cheeses and ham, yoghurt, serials, just standard continental breakfast, coffee, orange. Evening meals were just huge portions of food, I have never been served so much food, not even by my Polish mother. The choice was of two set starters and two main meals. The starters were like enormous main meals, followed by even more massive quantities of food for the main meal, there was a salad bar too. Occasionally the food came cold but there was a microwave to heat it up.

Staff were nice apart for the owner who ignored use for 20 minutes as we stood in reception. The receptionists especially the night one were very friendly and helpful.

There was no entertainment on at night and the bar was expensive.

Our pick up was not until 5pm but we were asked to leave our rooms at 12 O'clock despite the hotel closing for the season.

Girasole is the Hotel at Bormio 2000, it sells itself as the perfect ski Hotel. We stayed here as part of our Easter school ski trip with young primary aged school children and their mums and dads. First off they have changed the name to just Girasole so it's harder to find here i guess. The bed rooms were disgusting, broken lights no bulbs, broken furniture , camp beds, not real beds, bunk beds with no guards, smoke alarms with carrier bags over them huge holes in the floor where it looks like they used the wrong concrete, bathrooms stank of bleach and damp, tea towels as towels, toilets that don't flush and we had 10 rooms on the second floor so this was not just one room. We complained to our tour operator and will seek compensation .Moreover the staff were rude, treated us like cattle the food was ok but repetitive.
We found someone else's passport in one room between the bed sheets we had the police come because a man was hanging around the toilets looking at our children , the list goes on and on!
Up side is the location which is amazing and also the barman that runs the in house music bar, he was generous kind and great fun and made our stay a whole lot better than it could have been.
For the record this hotel is designed for secondary school kids on mass NOT families with young kids. Bormio is a great resort well worth a visit fantastic ski area for kids but do an inspection visit first if you are thinking of staying here.
