“an italian, a original gem on the foothills of the Dolomites!”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

if you have seen it all: luxury-hotels. gourmet-temples, far away and all over Europe,
you still will be amazed to find a true original.
Belluno is the place, the old and beautiful town:
very little tourism, but most original and charming...
and Al Borgo is where you stay and eat:
father and two sons run the place and you find them at the reception, the 'front room', the bar of the restaurant and mansion, decorated with individual pieces of art inside out.
the modest menu with with seasonal and regional dishes of prices around euro 10.- is superb!
the guests and patrons are all Italian enjoying life and good food and appropriate company...
the menu is Italian only, but the two sons are most helpful to translate into your language.

- there are three rooms in a cottage a few steps away from the restaurant: interior design is
19th century, but all present day comforts (around euro 60.- for two people plus euro 10.-for breakfast).
the breakfast with homemade products and freshly baked croissants was outstanding.
- we have never found this sort of experience anywhere else, but want to share this.
the best experience is the genuine hospitality of father and his two sons: you feel somehow
welcome beyond being just a tourist, a passing through traveler.

“Good resturant in Belluno”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

The resturant is an old villa with beautiful landscape, located few minutes out of the city. Food is traditional from Dolomiti area, the menu changes according to the season, so you can enjoy fresh and unic dishes. Wines are also good and price is reasonable.

“traditional and good food”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Dinner with friends from Belluno and they brought us to this typical local restaurant. We had a very good dinner with nice food, nice wine and reasonable bill. Try local cutlets and their special risotto with mushrooms...really deliscious. The owner is a "somelier" so he suggested us good local wine that we liked a lot. We haven't be able to have a full course dinner (4 courses) as portion, at least for our habits where quite generous.

“In the heart of tradition”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

If you pass by Belluno - a tiny town at the bottom of the Dolomites - you cannot miss to enjoy a meal in this cosy restaurant. Settled in a XVIII century villa surrounded by a nice park offering a spectacular landscape. The food served is the one of the local tradition and particular attention is paid to the search of the ingredients. If you are fond of wine, take some time to go through the " wine bible" that you will be given once you order. The cellar is really well-stocked and Luca will guide you with some helpful hints in the food matching. Just have a try !

“Traditional cousine”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

This restaurant is run by a family and is located in a wonderful park just out of town. They serve tradicional dishes and good wines. Many wedding day took part here because has got a big and nice patio outside. This is not a posh place but kind of nice anyway so...go there dressed nicely! It can be a good place for a romantic dinner or for a business one.
There are even rooms to stay.
