Returned to Gritti after lovely holday in 2002, but how things had changed. Arrived at 8pm, to be told restaurant closed at 8.30 and no arrangements had been made for our meal other than what we could grab there and then. In fact the staff were already clearing tables ready for breakfast.
The room (105) was fine. Spotlessly clean and well serviced evey day. A credit to the domestic staff. The balcony area was a bit scruffy with old plastic garden chairs.
The food was poor. Cooked breakfast was left sitting in a serving container till the eggs resembled something made from rubber and the bacon was just cold.. Two mornings of that and it was toast and marmalade for the rest of the stay.
Things didn't improve at evening meals. After been open for about an hour, food began to run out. Meat was not replaced and we waited 10mins for some potatoes.
Pool and surrounding areas were clean and tidy, with lots of matching sun loungers. The restaurant had a long trouser policy for the men which was strictly enforced.
BVoth the hotel and Bardolino as a town seemed very geared to German tourist.
On the whole a nice holiday spoilt a little by the disappointing hotel. we wil not reyurn.More
