“Holiday at Lake Garda”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

A friend and I enjoyed a very wonderful holiday at the Parc Gritti Hotel in Bardolino . The staff were most helpful from members of the Reception team to all the other staff throughout the hotel. The hotel is situated a short distance from the town centre and boat departure point. The food was varied and plentiful but depending on when you went to dine the choice could have been limited. The room in which we stayed was somewhat tired and the bathroom whilst clean the shower was dated and faulty (Room 270) All these comments would not stop me from returning to Parc Gritti but I would request a refurbished room.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room

The Hotel Gritti is one of our favourite hotels, in one of our favourite places. We have stayed there four or five times within the last ten years, and have never been disappointed. We always have such a relaxing holiday. The rooms are cool and comfortable, with shady balconies. The food is fab! We always book breakfast and dinner, and enjoy the easy going buffet atmosphere. The afternoon tea is also a treat. We enjoy the opportunity of travelling about on the lake steamers, or simply relaxing by the pool. Bardolino is a lovely place for an evening stroll. We will be back!

Room Tip: We prefer those rooms facing inward into the courtyard.

This is a large hotel which is in a good location for walking into Bardolino which i must say is a lovely place to go on a evening, the beds were very comfy and rooms are clean, I think most rooms have a balcony but alot don't get the sun on an evening which was a disapointment for us.
We had booked half board and expected a proper sit down meal on an evening but the resturant was an help yourself buffet with people consantly up and down to get food and it was quite annoying, their is a wide choice of average food on an evening but if your looking for that waiter/waitress service from a 4 star hotel you won't get it or you have to pay extra to eat in another dining room as this is what we thought we were getting from half board, The staff are their but don't really put themselves across to make your stay welcome. I would certainly stay in bardolino again but not in this hotel.
Bedroom tax at this hotel is 2 Euros per person per night which is payable to the hotel at the end of your stay

We went to Hotel last year and you have to book Privilage Room for value. The Food was not as good this year as it is breakfast and dinner, however not as much variety but still good for price. The weather not so good but go to the trips, including Venice and The Lakes also go into Garda, Beautiful place to be.

This was our second vist to the Hotel Gritti and sadly will be our last as they say you should never go back to the same place. We visted this hotel 2 years ago and it was very good but unfortunatly it is now a shadow of it's former self.A pair of ducks have seem to have taking a booking as they were thier ever morning and evening this meant that there was algae in the pond, also our balcony(room 204) had stalagtights and stalagmites on the roof and floor and both were at least 2.5cm so had been there for some time.Whilst the location was still good the dining experance had been turn into what can be only described as feeling like a cattle market with overworked and sometime abbusive staff that desipte knowing kept thanking me in Germany and also be aware of the city tax which gets put on your bill at the end of your staybreakfast is clear up after yourseleves as most staff did not start untill 8.00pm despite the breakfast bar opening at 7.15

Room Tip: I could not say as all rooms seem to be the same

Dear Brian,

we’re sorry that you won’t come back to our hotel. As for the ducks, this is something we share with many other hotels on Lake Garda: wild ducks, as well as wild swans, live and move freely on the lakeshores, so it may happen that some sneak in every now and then. Anyhow, we thank you for sharing your experience. As for the rooms, we would like to remind you that some of them have been renovated.

We checked in without any problem.

The room was a Twin with a Balcony, nicely decorated. The room was a "for women" package and came with lots of nice toiletry touches in the bathroom. The Shower was a Double width Unit with Spa Nozzles and a Shower.
The room had plenty of storage, room safe, LCD TV and a large balcony with plastic table and chairs. If the trees had not been in full leaf we would have had an amazing Lake View. (Room 342). Very good quality bedding and Mattress Toppers, the beds were extremely comfortable.
(The hotel is also very quiet, or it was during our stay. A Pleasant Surprise)

The Indoor Pool was lovely; as was the SPA area, with Steam Room, Sauna, Hot Stone Loungers, Showers, Relaxation Area & Foot Baths. The Jacuzzi was not working.

The outdoor pool area is very nice, however I can imagine in hot weather is very busy. The Hotel is only feet from the Lake Edge and there is a beautiful short walk around the edge into the centre of Bardolino.

The hotel serves afternoon Tea & Coffee in the Terrace area which is free for guests and a very nice touch.

This is a nice hotel, but is starting to look a little tired around the edges. We also found the staff and service to be a little wanting... I bought a bottle of Champagne for my wife and I and we were not even offered nibbles as an accompaniment, I mentioned this at reception while also complaining about the Spa service (Next Paragraph) and within minutes, crisps and nibbles had appeared... Why was it necessary to complain? The barman looked completely disinterested.

My wife and I tried to book a Whole Day Spa package from their Spa menu at close on 200Euros each.. The Spa receptionist said she needed to check with another hotel before she would agree it and promised to notify reception with a message. We were out all the next day and when I went to reception over 24hrs later, nobody knew anything about it! Terrible Service!

Breakfast is Typical European Buffet and has a large selection, the breakfast room is very busy and did not appear to be air conditioned as was very uncomfortable.

Yet again.. It must be an Italy thing? The Hotel offers free WiFi, but it is only available between 16.30 & 20.30hrs??? This is ridiculous, it is a 3rd party supply and yet again needs username & password to log in, every single time you try to access it.. this is SO frustrating!!! When are hotels going to join the 21st Century?

A Beautiful Location... I Would visit again, if the price was right!

Room Tip: Get to afternoon Tea at 4 o'clock on the Dot! It's popular!!!!
