“The Best Resturant in Bardolino”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

This is by far the best restaurant that we have visited in Bardolino. Friendly and authentic with food that is out of this world. Many previous reviewers mention that they discovered it at the end of their holiday and usually on their last night. Don’t make this mistake; make it your first visit , and as we did, you will probably make frequent visits throughout your holiday. We stayed at the Hotel Al Sole which is just across the road from the restaurant. If you are staying elsewhere, the 10 minute stroll from the centre of Bardolino will prove more than worthwhile.
The atmosphere makes you feel as though you are part of an Italian family. The restaurant is run efficiently by Cristina, Andrea and Priscilla with the kitchen staffed by the most fantastic chef and his assistant. The experience and knowledge of the staff is fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble so don’t be afraid to ask. One tip, if you decide to have a steak do not eat during the day because they are huge and the famous roasted Cockerel is equally filling. The Chef and Andrea are continually developing authentic recipies and we were amongst the first to try the refined recipe for cheese filled Tortellini with Porcini mushrooms and truffles in a truffle cream sauce. IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD, bursting with flavour - definitely one not to be missed, as was the calves’ liver dish.
The complimentary Glass of Prosecco and bowl of crostini on arrival and local biscuits and Limoncello at the end of the meal were evidence of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
For a taste of authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality, you really must try this restaurant!!
Average price for two including wine - around 40 - 45 euros

“Don't miss this restaurant!”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

This was our first visit to Italy and our very first meal was in Al Capitel, some 50m down the road from the Al Sole hotel where we were staying. We do not speak Italian, but the head waiter Andrea spoke very good English and was very helpful with the menu. He told us a lot about the food, also the history of the building and where to visit locally. We were welcomed with a free glass of wine. The meal was very good and, after we had requested the bill, we were given some local biscuits and lots of limoncello. We were only in Bardolino for one week, but it says a lot that this was the restaurant to which we returned for our last meal. In fact, when we asked about tagliatelle which was not on the menu, some was immediately made and cooked for us. We highly recommend Al Capitel. Don’t miss it if you come to Bardolino.

This has to be one of the most relaxt chill-out resturant. The people are so friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. I went with a friend and they helped arrangs a supprise birthday cake for her after out meal. Food beautiful. Would go back there every day if I could.

“Lovely food, friendly staff”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

Just returned from Bardolino and visited this restaurant based on previous reviews. It was very close to our hotel and we visited it twice during our weeks holiday. So different from all the restaurants in the town - the food was really very good indeed and we shall definitely visit again, if we are lucky enough to return. The chap who served us was exceptionally friendly and welcoming - all in all, it was a real treat to dine here.

“Great authentic local restaurant”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

This restaurant was recommended to us by the guys in MATE bar and we were so pleased they had. Whilst there are plenty of decent restaurants in Bardolino, they all seem to serve the same touristy food. This restaurant, to us, was more authentic with good authentic food, wonderful atmosphere, great service and value. It is the oldest restaurant in Bardolino and the actual building has some wonderful original featus and antiques. It is located just outside the centrer of Bardolino on the main road to Garda. All the staff are very friendly and the maitre d, Andrea takes the time to chat to the diners and talked us through the menu making recommendations etc. Whilst it may not sound too adventurous, their Minestrone soup was the best soup we have ever had and the cockerel, which was a whole small bird, had more taste than any chicken I have ever tasted before - it was explained that it was to do with they way it is marinaded etc. before cooking. There homemade Tiramasu was also superb. We ate there twice during our 7 day break and it will be the first restaurant we return to on our next visit.
