“On a Venice-Umbria itinerary this is well worth a detour”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

Driving from the Euganean Hills to Umbria we planned to stop for lunch at Gambero Rosso and we were lucky as they had just re-opened the day before after holidays. On a warm autumn day the town square was busy and although we were wearing very casual holiday attire we were warmly welcomed and given a central table. The decor here shows a very good eye for detail with traditional embroidery, plates that match the room colours and delightful touches such as small pumpkins as table decoration. The result is elegant and informal. On the wall near the reception there are framed photographs of well known TV, sports and political celebrities who have dined here but everyone is warmly received by Arduino. Giuliana his wife and the chef asks for your preferred water and chats to you, the son attends to wine selection and his wife takes the orders. The ladies have aprons and the gentlemen wear jeans and polos, but they are well groomed and attuned to client needs in a gentle relaxing way. Everything runs flawlessly and you feel special even though all the tables are booked. We decided on the degustation "del parco" for 35 Euro each and a bottle of Pignoletto (Bologna Hills) for 12 Euro. With regard to food, there is a strict regional focus and re-discovery of old family recipes. Our favourite dishes were: meatballs, pumpkin soup with shaved black truffle, veal casserole and dessert tasting plate. When we left Signora Giuliana acknowledged our visit and reminded us that they also have four rooms for guests in case we need to stop overnight. This is a place worth detouring for, and when we left we felt satisfied and serene.

“Great food, lovely people”
Reviewed August 8, 2011

We really enjoyed our meal in this lovely restaurant, a couple of weeks ago! We chose the menu, and with coffee afterwards we counted 7 courses. All of them were very good, not too big, so that you could actually look forward to yet another course without feeling stuffed. The staff were very friendly and enthusiastic about their product, and were able to explain things in broken English.

“Mediocre food with TINY portions and over priced for the taste of only butter”
Reviewed June 5, 2011

Very disappointed to visit this restaurant after the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We started with the degustation of four first courses for EUR25 per person. The food in Emilia Romagna is famous for its taste but this restaurant only relies on butter! The portions are VERY small - one of the four degustations was served in a cup and the amount of the pasta was less than half the cup! I can understand this if each degustation is rich in flavour and ingredients but here was NO taste except the butter and the ingredients are inexpensive (AGAIN we heard that the father collects the herbs in the field). The four degustations in total would not have even made one normal serving of pasta - at EUR25 for 1 plate of pasta this is excessive - we are not in Milan or Venice but in Bagno di Romagna! Yes the staff are polite but this does not adequately compensate. After the poor result for the first courses we decided to not waste further money on even dessert. Very dissapointed.
