A beautifully appointed house on the way up Mont Piselli, with owners on hand to welcome us and assist with the pizza oven! Such a peaceful setting with stunning views of the Tronto Valley and on a clear day the sea beyond. In ten days we sledged up the mountain as there was still snow at the top in March, the children swam in the sea, waded across a river to sulphur springs and admired the sculptures along the harbour wall at San Benedetto Del Tronto - you need a car to visit these wonderful places, but the local area is just beautiful and surprisingly varied with hill top fortresses and villages and the stunning Roman town of Ascoli Piceno below, with what has become my favourite cafe in the world, Cafe Melletti, a collonaded art deco cafe bar in the Piazza Del Popollo, not to mention a roman bridge, wash house and amphitheatre. We were welcome to wander the property's seven acres and to meet the donkeys which our children adored, as well as the cats and chickens. There is plenty of information to help you find these places, and the owners were always very helpful with pointers and maps.

Having to leave! Driving may be a downside for some, but absolutely worth it.
