We stayed at Villa Cicchi on recommendation. The villa is nothing like a generic hotel but a grand house unspoiled by the tourist industry. The rooms are furnished with antique furniture, the linen beautiful. Each day the rooms were replenished with bottled water, fruit and biscotti. The villa is a labyrinth of interesting rooms which the owners are only too happy to take you on a tour. The food was sublime. The breakfast table was groaning with prosciutto(cured there) cheeses, fruit, preserves and many cakes freshly baked! A cooked breakfast was also available. We stayed three nights and after dining there the first night decided we would dine there every night! The 5 course dinners were amazing, true to the area. My favourite was a Parmesan tart, something like a muffin but when cut oozed a Parmesan cream ..... I was lucky enough the get the recipe! Elena and Manuella were exceptional hosts. Nothing was a bother, were a wealth of information and we were put at ease from the moment we arrived. We are planning to return this year with friends!
