We were really looking forward to this place but in truth were slightly disappointed. The form is that you pay €35 and receive a set dinner consisiting of a huge number of dishes. The antipasti was excellent, all of it delicious and a lovely range (cold meats, omelette, baked peppers/aubergine, cheese toasted courgettes, ricotta with local honey etc).
The primis were a bit of a disappointment to me. The gnocchi, in the gnocchi in tomato sauce, was lovely but the sauce lacked substance. The tomato sauce, in the tomato sauce and ravioli, was much better but the sweet lemon filling in the ravioli was just too much. It was too sweet.
The secondi should have been superb but in reality it was just pretty good. Suckling pig, a speciality of the area. It was a little dry and not seasoned sufficiently. My girlfriend disagreed with me until 2 nights later we had the same dish at another agriturismo (Sa Cressia Ezza) which was mind bogglingly good. Another level altogether.
The semifreddo desert was ok although a little uninteresting, and the wine was a bit on the rough side unfortunately. We didn't expect it to be excellent but actually after a glass or two we found we didn't want any more.
In terms of the venue itself, this was a disappointment. The views from the car park are wonderful and the building looks welcoming but once inside it's very dull and dingy with little or no windows/natural light. Small enhancements such as candles on the tables would have made a real difference.
The staff were great though and as an overall experience it was good.
I would recommend coming here but not over Sa Crescia Ezza agriturismo (found a mile south of Berchiddeddu on the SP79 just before you enter Sa Castanza). This was by far our best agriturismo experience and the cheapest at just €30.
