“Rural Sardinia just next to Costa Smeralda!”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

When I planned my honeymoon, I tried to mix a little bit of classic Italy, with its roman ruins and Renaissance splendor, a little bit of good foods and wines, and also a little bit of sun and sea! It was when, while looking for some beach areas in Italy, I came across Sardinia. It had all you looked for in a Mediterranean beach: clear turquoise tepid waters with magnificent, almost white, sand, fantastic beach scenarios, a peculiar granitic landscape and interesting gastronomy. It was decided that Sardinia would be a must during our trip. While looking for accommodation in here, one would find the prices very high, especially in Costa Smeralda. That was when I decided to look for fellow travelers opinions in Tripadvisor. Soon, I found out this little B&B, just 20min away from the beaches of Costa Smeralda that everybody was praising, especially due to the owner's hospitability and her breakfasts. So, I booked five nights in here, based solely in my fellow travelers advice.

I must say, without a doubt, that it did not corresponded exactly to what I was expecting. It was even BETTER! The B&B occupies an old restored farmhouse, with some recent well integrated bungalows. Even though it is located just a couple of miles away from the city of Arzachena, it is a very isolated place and, at night, the only thing you would hear was the crickets in the outside. The lights from city are barely noticeable, so if you like stargazing, this is an awesome spot. The rooms were simple but well decorated and very clean (we stayed in nº 1, one of the best in the house), and had a small refrigerator where we could put some food that we used to prepare sandwiches when going to the beach. The pool was inviting, especially after a day of beach and exploring the region. My wife loved the hammock by the pool.

The best part was the human warmth that you could feel in there, not only from the house host's, Caterina and Paolo, but also from other guests. The hostess Caterina was very kind and inviting. She even offered us a bottle of artisanal honey from her farm when we left. Has we had to leave very early to catch the ferry boat, she left a thermos with coffee for us along with some of her breakfast biscuits. This is a detail that, unfortunately some bigger hotels try to forget, even when you have already paid for your breakfast. Speaking of which, the breakfasts were simply marvelous. They were easily the best breakfasts that I have ever had in a hotel. All was prepared by Caterina, the quiches, the cakes, the pies, all the pastries and jams. Almost everything was prepared by her in the night before, ensuring that everything was as fresh and tasty as possible. 6 stars out of 5.

All in all, it is an excellent choice for those of you, who wish to visit Sardinia but do not want to empty your wallet. It is an excellent place for a relaxing and romantic vacation. And do not forget the breakfast. Even if it was only for it, I would gladly return to this magical place. Thank you very much!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main house. It will add a better sense of old rural farm to your stay.

Lu Pastruccialeddu was a gem in the Sardinian countryside, close enough to Alghero and the coast so as not to be too cut off from civilisation, yet very secluded and quiet. Katerina the host does all the cooking and bakes incredible treats fresh every morning. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, clean and modern. Some of them open directly on to the pool which is clean and inviting. The staff are friendly, kind and helpful and I would recommend a stay here either as a couple of with your family. However rooms can be pricey - we paid €210 per night for a family of four sharing a superior ensuite room. You could save about €30 per night if you ask for a standard room. A really pleasant and relaxing stay.

Our family stayed here for 7 days mid July 2013. Very nice surroundings all kept clean and good looking. It was a pleasure to get up in the morning and feel the cool clean morning air outside. Then next go and have a wonderful breakfast with all different kinds of pies, omelets, cakes etc. served by an allways smilling Caterina and staff. We enjoyed the nice pool and the area around it very much. Only comment is that the internet was not reachable from our rooms. And it would have been nice with a small kitchen in the room since breakfast is the only meal served.

Room Tip: Room 1 and 2 are seperated from the other rooms with some distance to the pool. GOOD - No noice from...

This small b@b is EXCELLENT and is not to be missed. It is in a good location but the breakfast is just out of this world. Lots of home made bread , pies and jams. Could not find any fault and the close was so reasonable.
We took lots of food out for lunch and so hardly had to eat elsewhere. Excellent service from everyone. A most relaxing experience and certainly could have stayed longer - which is always a positive sign.

Room Tip: Book in advance as it is likely to be booked if you try on spec.

My husband and I spent only one night here, but we will never forget it. The setting is beautiful, timeless, and otherworldly. The buildings blend and nestle in the hills, highlighted by vivid flowers. Cats and donkeys add to the tranquility. The clean, comfortable rooms are decorated with authentic Sardinian fabrics. The breakfast would make any hostess envious. But best by far was the hospitality of Caterina and her family, and the care and attention they give to guests. First we requested information about a hike that interested us. When they could not find any in their library, they went to the Internet and printed out maps and trail descriptions for us. That was more than we expected, but the next morning they really came to our aid. My husband had inadvertently left the parking lights of our rental car on overnight. The resulting dead battery was a problem, being far from automotive assistance and our rental firm in Cagliari. We were told it would take a day for help to arrive. But Caterina and her husband made calls to relatives, went to their home to get equipment, and restarted the car in an hour. What would have been a very disappointing delay in our trip was resolved with smiles and their generous help. Sardinia is an amazing place in many ways, but it was the people and places like Lu Pastruccialeddu that touched our hearts. Highly Recommended.

We stayed here for 10 days mid June 2013 because of the positive reviews on this site. This was our first real holiday with our 11 month old baby. I can only say it has been a marvelous stay. The owners Catarina and their staff are very friendly and will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfasts are a feast with a big buffet with home made cakes, omelets, quiches and other delicious foods.
Every morning Catarina the owner and her co-worker Gabriella were practicing walking with our baby daughter and she loved it.
We stayed in the appartment that has a separate bedroom. The room is basic but quite large is well maintained and has some nice traditional sardinian touches. Without airco the room stayed surprisingly cool even with 30+ degrees outside. The rooms are spotless due to daily room service. The b&b is beautifully situated overlooking the limestone hills and we very much enjoyed the swimming pool and had lovely (take away meals from the trattoria) sitting under the trees in the big garden. From Arzachena you are very close (20 min)to the beaches of Costa Smeralda and other tourist attractions. We had a fabulous stay and would definitely recommend this place to couples and small families looking for a calm and comfortable base to explore north Sardinia.

We were referred to this B&B by a friend who is a hotel owner in Switzerland, and her recommendation was fabulous! This little B&B is a total find. It is tucked up in the hills above the town of Arzachena. We stayed in one of the family room apartments so we had plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 children. The breakfasts were AMAZING! The owner puts such thought and love into all of the cakes and tortes that she makes. The breakfasts were completely gluttonous! The property was so beautiful and the pool was in a spectacular setting. The drive to the beach takes about 20 minutes from this property and the restaurants in town are pretty amazing. When I come back to Sardinia, I can't imagine ever staying anywhere but here. B&B Lu Pastruccialeddu is a fabulous find.
