When I planned my honeymoon, I tried to mix a little bit of classic Italy, with its roman ruins and Renaissance splendor, a little bit of good foods and wines, and also a little bit of sun and sea! It was when, while looking for some beach areas in Italy, I came across Sardinia. It had all you looked for in a Mediterranean beach: clear turquoise tepid waters with magnificent, almost white, sand, fantastic beach scenarios, a peculiar granitic landscape and interesting gastronomy. It was decided that Sardinia would be a must during our trip. While looking for accommodation in here, one would find the prices very high, especially in Costa Smeralda. That was when I decided to look for fellow travelers opinions in Tripadvisor. Soon, I found out this little B&B, just 20min away from the beaches of Costa Smeralda that everybody was praising, especially due to the owner's hospitability and her breakfasts. So, I booked five nights in here, based solely in my fellow travelers advice.
I must say, without a doubt, that it did not corresponded exactly to what I was expecting. It was even BETTER! The B&B occupies an old restored farmhouse, with some recent well integrated bungalows. Even though it is located just a couple of miles away from the city of Arzachena, it is a very isolated place and, at night, the only thing you would hear was the crickets in the outside. The lights from city are barely noticeable, so if you like stargazing, this is an awesome spot. The rooms were simple but well decorated and very clean (we stayed in nº 1, one of the best in the house), and had a small refrigerator where we could put some food that we used to prepare sandwiches when going to the beach. The pool was inviting, especially after a day of beach and exploring the region. My wife loved the hammock by the pool.
The best part was the human warmth that you could feel in there, not only from the house host's, Caterina and Paolo, but also from other guests. The hostess Caterina was very kind and inviting. She even offered us a bottle of artisanal honey from her farm when we left. Has we had to leave very early to catch the ferry boat, she left a thermos with coffee for us along with some of her breakfast biscuits. This is a detail that, unfortunately some bigger hotels try to forget, even when you have already paid for your breakfast. Speaking of which, the breakfasts were simply marvelous. They were easily the best breakfasts that I have ever had in a hotel. All was prepared by Caterina, the quiches, the cakes, the pies, all the pastries and jams. Almost everything was prepared by her in the night before, ensuring that everything was as fresh and tasty as possible. 6 stars out of 5.
All in all, it is an excellent choice for those of you, who wish to visit Sardinia but do not want to empty your wallet. It is an excellent place for a relaxing and romantic vacation. And do not forget the breakfast. Even if it was only for it, I would gladly return to this magical place. Thank you very much!
