“I cannot recommend this place.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

A very strange and aglly building.
The apartment was spacious but tha a.c in the bedroom wasnt chilling and it eas a big problem because the window must not be opened if you want to sleep at night. The curtain in the bathroom was terrible. The bed in the salon was very uncomfortable.
The location is right next to the train station, so you get very little of the "scenic charm" of Arezzo. You also get the screeching of trains passing in the night. During the night we stay, the trains were NOT infrequent, and the noise was very significant all night. would advise people to see through Arezzo for the day, see the highlights, and stay the night outside of arrezo.

Dear d36,

I wear my best and sincere smile, but i have to disagree with you on 2 points of your reviews

The first one is the building, which is an extraordinary piece of contemporary architecture. And I strongly suggest people to see and stay here only for the privilege to sleep in such an amazing facility

The second is your opinion about "the view" and the town. Yes, Out of our windows you have not direct view on the town, but you have a free parking and you are 4 minute walking from city center. I see this as a value, not a problem.
Arezzo too is wonderful and worth spending more than a day on it, not just a few hours "promenade". I'm not listing all the "features" of the town, because they are countless...

The air conditioning issue could have been easily solved if you had told us during your stay. You should understand in a facility like this problems are not infrequent, but the very important thing is how we react to them. We could have the A/C fixed, or gave you another apartment.

Regarding the curtain, with the same exact friendly smile as before, I can tell you this is an opinion, do you agree.

Anyway I'm very sorry you had a bad stay here. In case you come back to Arezzo I hope you decide to give us another chance.

Yours sincerely
Simone Borselli

Once we had found Le Corniole Arezzo - Residence e Ristorante
Viale Michelangelo 142, 52100 Arezzo, Italy (off the one way circuit leading to the train station) we were OK. The hotel is very difficult to find and the reception even more difficult! However, once we had overcome these small niggles, and reconciled ourselves to the general ugliness of the building and become accustomed to the trains passing a few metres away from the hotel (and every few minutes) we quite liked the general quirkiness of the place, This modern hotel is not the prettiest building in Arezzo but it is very convenient to both the train station and the old city centre. There are plentiful cafes and bars in the immediate vicinity and all seemed to be reasonable priced. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and is on the work surface of the kitchen area/lounge dining area when you arrive. The bedroom was large and the bed very comfortable; the bathroom was very well equipped. The towels (changed daily) were displayed wonderfully with the hand towels being folded and present a la table napkins when the waiter is showing off - wonderful. The hotel staff were very good although the younger of the two preferred to speak Italian albeit with a Tuscan accent! The ?owner/manager spoke much better English but quite liked being spoken with in Italian. There is a lively restaurant right next door to the reception but, amazingly, we could not hear it from our rail side view room. It is only a few minutes walk from the hotel to the centre of old Arezzo so it is possible to take as much time as is required to view the sights and sounds of this wonderful old city but still have a bed handily placed nearby, If you are not too fussy and can sleep through anything then this is the place to go for - if you are a light sleeper, or easily disturbed, then do not use this hotel.

Room Tip: If you cannot sleep through train noise then do not choose this hotel.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such an in-depth review: it's so amazing I can't help smiling.
I agree with you the path to reach us by car is a little convoluted (so very much easier by feet), but the final price for the effort is the paradise you stayed on, I'm sure you agree.

I wonder how did you recognize the tuscan accent, but I left this for a conversation to come, since I expect you to come back and let us enjoy your presence again soon.

With my kindest regards
Simone Borselli

We stayed at this very modern appartment complex for one night we chose it principally because we wanted to be very close to Arezzo railway station. The appartments are well turned out and spacious. The staff were very helpful and allowed us to leave our car on site while we journied on to Rome for 2 nights.
This complex would particularly suit people touring by train as it is so close to the railway station and the town centre.
The only downside is that it is adjacent to the railway line and there was some train noise despite the exxtensive double glazing.
This is not a place you choose for wonderful views of Italian countryside but is very convenient indeed for Arezzo as a town visit.

Loved this hotel.. Only negative is the proximity to railway line and the noise of trains throughout the night BUT everything else was great. Staff could not have been more helpful and could not do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Very well presented and clean. Well equipped kitchen was a bonus. The location in regard to the town was great.. Easywalk to sightsee and eat. Would definitely recommend this hotel ( the trains even have a certain charm!!!!!)

Hi, The accomodation here was excellent. We expected one room. We had a bedroom, a full kitchen/ sitting room, large bathroom, and outside balcony. The owner/ receptionist spoke great English and was VERY helpful. The onsite restaurant was superbe.....very Italian, (we were the only Brits there). The food was exceptional, and very well priced. We stayed 2 nights, and ate 3 meals there.(1 lunch, and 2 dinners ). Waiter Roman was extremely helpful in explaining the menu, which was all in Italian. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to everyone. Also handy for the town, within walking distance. Only downside is, if relying on satnav, it is initially difficult to find, because the satnav does not recognise the complete address, and the oneway system complicates things.

The location is pretty convenient close to city centre walking distance also to train station. The apartment is quite large we were upgraded there were 2 bedrooms, large bathroom & kitchen. The beds were not comfy. The noise from trains passing did not bother us.There is a great restaurant attached to the hotel. The reception staff was great, helpful & friendly really nice person. It beats staying in a hotel room. The breakfast was sad.Could not really call it a breakfast. But then the positives out way the negatives by far.Would definitely stay here again! No english stations on TV

It seems as if every review of Le Corniole must begin and end with a reference to the adjacent railroad tracks. Yes, they are close. For an aerial view of the hotel's location, enter 43.458378, 11.879171 into the search bar of maps.google.com and zoom in. There they are, all right, and the hotel is on the outside of a curve in the tracks, at that. And the trains (predominantly passenger trains) are indeed frequent at all hours. Our room was on the track side of the hotel (see photo attached), and, yes, we did hear the frequent trains. But, honestly, we did not find the noise intrusive at all; your sensitivity may differ from ours.

It would be unfair to Le Corniole, though, to make the trains the only emphasis of any review. The rooms -- which are suites -- are huge and very well appointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and all with whom we dealt spoke perfect English. There is a free computer with Internet access in the lobby for the guests to use. It is a first rate operation in all respects, and we will book there again when we return to Arezzo.

And we will return to Arezzo. Often, Arezzo is regarded as a stop-over, not even overnight, to see the frescoes at San Francesco. If that is all you take from your visit to this gem of a Tuscan city, you have missed an opportunity. There is much more to see, some really good history, in Arezzo than just the frescoes at San Francesco. We had excellent meals at fine restaurants in Arezzo, and the people with whom we interacted were unfailingly friendly. Make it a destination, not a mere stop-over, and you will be rewarded.
