“Poor customer relations”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

We stayed here for the one night whilst conducting business locally. This was our first experience in a Marriott hotel, and it was, to say the least, a big disappointment. Our first impressions were good, and the place has a 'designer' feel, without trying too hard to impress. The room was quiet and quite spacious, and quiet.
The staff at reception were quite helpful when we arrived, but that all changed the following morning when we awoke that there was NO RUNNING WATER, either hot or cold. We immediately contacted reception to be told that engineers were working on the problem. We were not updated about the problem, and needing to move on to Rome that day after our business meeting, we had little choice but to freshen-up as well as we could.
Breakfast was self-serve, but it was necessary to ask the waiter for the non-self-serve stuff. We noticed that every person in the dining room was having the same problem in getting the waiter to respond to requests - he appeared to be ignoring the guests.
We had a long dialogue with reception on checking-out, but they offered no reduction in the charges for the lack of water in the bathroom, although they did apologise for the waiter's behaviour.
I took this matter up with Marriott's Customer services, but they would only refer me to the Hotel. the hotel's completely unsatisfactory response was 'In case you will decide in the future to honor us with your presence, we will be happy to make up for it'. On the basis of this appalling treatment I will NOT be returning. (Read on for our nightmare at another Marriot Hotel the following night)
We returned to Arezzo about four or five days later, and needless to stay we avoided the AC and had a lovely room with PLENTY of water at the BEst Western Galileo Palace near Arezzo

We used Arezzo as our home base while touring in Tuscany. We used Marriott points to stay at the AC Arezzo. The hotel is attractive, clean and comfortable, with a very helpful staff; however, it's out of the way and definitely a cab ride from the train station and the old city. Nice hotel, not conveniently located, though. If you rent a car, it's a good choice. The parking is free and getting around Arezzo is easy.

The room is small, the lobby is small, the restaurant looked dull, no walking distance attractions. You feel like on transit. I had a good sleep though!

The breakfast was very poor, with only one waiter serving all. The corridors, rooms and bathrooms were modern and elegant.

This hotel was stylish and comfortable with modern furnishings. The rooms were well equipped and on the small side (keeping with European standards). We had dinner in the restaurant and it was quite good (be prepared to relax during dinner, as it took several hours). Breakfast was included and was very adequate. The employees we interacted with did not speak much English, but that did not pose a problem for us. I can see how that might be interpreted as poor customer service, but I did not see it this way. The location seemed a bit remote even though it is located ten minutes from the city center, as it is located in a light commercial district that was closed on the weekend we were there. I would stay here again - Arezzo is a delightful village and the AC Hotel is clean, comfortable, and consistent!

Room Tip: The rooms appear to be quiet, private, and fairly equivalent.

They claim to have laundry facilities on site, but they don't. Restaurant was closed, bad location. The computer they claim as available, isn't. They charged by the minute. They were not able to comp me the laundry I had to send out due to the lack of facilities. The staff was friendly, but unable to fix anything.

My husband and I stayed here recently while visiting our daughter who was studying in Arezzo. We used Marriott points, and this is the main reason we chose to stay here. It's only a ten minute drive from the town center as well as the train station, and cab drivers in Arezzo were the most accommodating as well as friendliest we encountered during our stay in Italy. The staff at the AC are all warm and friendly, our room was spacious and very clean. I especially loved the large tub as a long hot soak was in order after a long day of touring! After the first morning, the restaurant staff had our "cafe Americano" to our table without having to ask! Would definitely stay here again.

I was just in Arezzo and stayed at this hotel for two days. I booked it based on the location in Italy and after reading some of the reviews here on Tripadvisor. We received absolutely horrible service. They have no training in how to say hello or even thank you to a guest. Upon arrival the women behind the counter barked at us "have your passports out and ready" It was like we were in a customs line. No one was friendly AT ALL. The lobby and restaurant do look very stylish and updated and the public areas look nice. The room is small an the bed and pillows are terrible. I had a hard time sleeping on them. The walls are thin and we had people yelling in the hallway for hours. A call to the front desk didn't do anything as I don't think they understood the issue. The restaurant was also bad. They must use a translator application for the menu and none of the descriptions in english make any sense. No one really speaks a lick of English so we couldn't even ask questions. The bread that was served to us was stale and it took 15 minutes to get some butter to go with it. On this trip we stayed in multiple cities through europe/Italy and this was by far the worst experience of the trip! Upon check out there was not even a simple, thank you for staying with us, or how was your stay? They really could care less. While touring Arezzo, we did see a really cute hotel called the Hotel Continentale right in the city center and would stay there is we go back to this destination. The city center of Arezzo is stunning and we would recommend going to this town and walking around for a day.
